Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Nice, I don't remember if I have a G27 or G29, but whichever I have, I enjoy. Even the G25 was a heck of a wheel. ATS is a very relaxing game that most people don't understand until they give it a try.
Also, taking some.extra holiday money and going from 16GB of RAM to 32GB. It isn't the sexiest upgrade, but one I'm excited for. It'll also be much faster. I'm excited to see how much more stable and faster this makes Cities Skylines with 20 gigs of mods, it should benefit ARMA 3 as well, and then I know a few other games I have and will probably play again someday like Watch Dogs 1 and 2 both benefit more from faster RAM than the average game.
I'll have 32GB of RAM, my 8600k that I'm running back at stock right now because nothing is pushing it close to full load now that we finished our Arma mission I hosted, and a 1070ti OC'd to basically be a slightly better than stock 1080. I'll need to upgrade the 1070ti eventually, but right now Red Dead 2 is really the only game I play that I'm not able to have at least 60 plus consistently at 1440p. Tarkov has some drops, but that's mostly due to it being early access and not fully optimized more than it is hardware related. Everything else I play like Rocket League is handled easily since I don't play a ton of demanding games.
While the nature of being a PC gamer is wanting to upgrade constantly, I'm still making myself hold off on upgrading my GPU. It is tempting to do it just for RDR2, but I'm going to see how many other newer games I get and how many actually push my GPU like RDR2. If I really don't see many at all, I really want to hold off and see how long I can make this 1070ti last.
Who knows how close we are to a new GTA being announced, but if one were to be relatively soon and it actually had a PC release date announced too, I'd love to wait and build a PC specifically to run it well. But knowing Rockstar we are still probably 3 or 4 years out on that.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I'm getting to that point again too. My 1080ti is still killing it for my needs and I recently bought a PSU that will last me ages. But my CPU is showing it's age and to upgrade that I need a new motherboard. Which in turn means I need new RAM lol. It's a never ending cycle.

Sane here .. pushing mine until she starts limping. Which no indication yet.
And yes ATS is so relaxing and fun. I only grabbed because of the sale they had and reviews were good...

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I love ATS. I just got the Utah one and it's cool because I've driven by a lot of the scenery going on road trips with the family. I don't have a wheel however. I know it would be way better with one. Maybe one day lol.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I need to hook my Oculus up and do ATS in VR. I tried it once and didn't spend much time in it because I was more focused on iRacing, but now that I'm not racing right now I need to give ATS some love in VR.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Grabbed mine simply due to 200 off at Best Buy..
It was a blast in VR. Easy to set up but needed a few edits to get DOF and FOV better.
Fine up until looking out left window.
When it jumps all the way out it triggers a bit of nausea lolJoshua:

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I only did 1 or 2 deliveries in VR when I first got the headset and I just remember my neck starting to ache as I was backing up and looking back out the window for what felt like forever, lol. I do remember thinking I needed to edit some stuff to get it looking a bit better than how it was stock, but it was neat feeling like I was in the cabin.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Anybody recommend a good gaming chair? Right now I have an old worn down office chair that is starting to put a toll on my back. Something $200 or less and I can game in for a hours at a time.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
I actually just started looking at chairs myself, and right around the same budget.
From what I can tell it's like any peripheral/accessory marketed as "gaming" - better off getting a regular office chair. The money goes further as far as quality goes.
I put this chair with these caster wheels in my cart as I keep searching.

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
As my 'natural padding' continues to go as I lose weight, I find myself a lot less tolerant of my cheapo Amazon mesh chair that has been satisfactory for so long. Probably buy a cushion first to try that, but likely end up spending some money on a nicer chair myself at some point soon.Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Found a Serta office chair on craigs list for only $150. In really good condition. Not sure about the mid back though. I kinda want a tall back because I'm 6'3.
Add this Serta iComfort i5000 Mid Back Managers Chair to your workspace to infuse it with comfort and style. The bonded leather upholstery of the adjustable desk chair delivers an elegant appearance as well as a soft feel while the EverFeel Triple Effects Foam provides plush cushioning to relieve pressure points for all day comfort. As you move through presentations e mails and phone calls you can feel supported thanks to the PostureSync Responsive Support System which offers lumbar support that adjusts to your recline angle and support needs. You can even effortlessly find the ideal position of this ergonomic office chair to tackle your to do list with the fingertip controls that let you adjust the seat height and tilt.Comment

I ended up going to Staples and sitting in about 50 chairs lol. Figured it was better to try some out rather than rely on reviews and order one blindly.Found a Serta office chair on craigs list for only $150. In really good condition. Anyway, I settled on this Sealy Posterpedic as it is a decent brand and was SUPER comfortable and checked all the boxes (minus adjustable arms). Plus it was $229 on the tag in-store so they took the $20 off at the register.
Of course it wasn't in stock at any store locally, it'll be here Friday. I'll give an update on it after it's setup if you're at all interested in my early opinion. Didn't want to skimp too much on an "important" piece. Considering the time I spend working and gaming at my desk.
