Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Sorry to post again, but are there any matches that actually last more than 2-5 minutes?
The game is hard as crap, but really fun, except the fact a round is over in as early as 2 minutes and longest I have had is like 5 minutes. What gives?Comment

Re: OS Steam and Computer Gaming Thread
Depends on the game mode, capture the intel tends to run long do to the swapping of respawns among teams when the intel or intel carrier are killed. I've seen games go the full max time limit.
You also have to think of the time limit of the game different. A match consists of many many rounds. So while each round might only last 5 min of combat, there is 6 or so of those rounds. So you looking at 30 mins or so for a match.
I'll get on this weekend and give you some help. Its a way more methodical pace, run around like a game and get murdered quick. Act how you really would in combat and live longer lolComment

RPG Codex released a pretty good list of top 70 PC RPGs. (with user reviews)
Better than any RPG lists I've seen on any of the mainstream sites. IGN, Gamespot, ect…

Really good list, just looking through that and seeing most of them being older games makes you think about how different "RPG's" are today. They really do love Obsidian on that website. Not quite sure how they didn't have FO3 but had New Vegas, I liked NV better to but they are so similar similar to the KOTOR1 & KOTOR2 scenario. Another thing that stuck out to me was that there was no JRPG's at all.RPG Codex released a pretty good list of top 70 PC RPGs. (with user reviews)

One last thing is I could not be happier that Skyrim wasn't on this list, its a great game and I have spent tons of hours playing it but to me the Elder Scrolls have ceased being true RPG's much like Bioware games have also stopped being RPG's.New York Yankees
Chicago Bears
Chicago Bulls

As far as no jrpgs, it was a pc list. There would prob be a few jrpgs in there (Chrono Trigger, FF 6/Tactics, SMT: Nocturne..) if it was a pc and console list.Really good list, just looking through that and seeing most of them being older games makes you think about how different "RPG's" are today. And about the NV/F3, KotoR 1/2 deal..
Yes the gameplay/engines were the same, so the games pretty much looked and played very similar..BUT... from a 'story elements' (writing/characters/dialogs/quests) perspective...very different.
Here's a good post about the voting..
"I think some people on other forums haven't really understood the nuances of the voting system. Like that discussion on RPGWatch on why Skyrim is not in the top 70 and how this supposedly shows 'nostalgia' bias. They forget that with 25 points to distribute people are voting for their top 10/20 games. Mediocre games like Skyrim might be in a number of gamers' top 70 lists but very few top 10 lists.
Something like Arcanum, which some people describe as a broken mess, has a loyal group of supporters who allocated points to it. Other groups favoured Wizardry, or the gold box games, or Witcher, Gothic. Something like Skyrim simply had no/few supporters who loved aspects of it enough to rate it very highly.
So while some moan about order and omissions, the reality is it's a very interesting list where every game has something which made it appeal strongly to someone. Which is great for the mini-reviews.
Those who focus too much on the ranking (or DArtagnan at the Watch with his Skyrim obsession) need to realise that this was not a curated top 70 list but the result of voting for a small number of games. No system of voting would ever please everyone and I think this is the best I've seen in terms of an overall selection."Comment

It's gotta be. Most people understand that they can build a better system at the same or lower cost if they just shop for parts.Comment
