Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I always turn off my PS4 simply because I don't see the point in keeping it on stand by, rest mode or whatever. I'm not using it so why leave it on? That's like saying, well, I won't be home the entire day and neither will anyone else but what the hell, im going to leave all my lights on just for the hell of it. LOL.
Another reason why I will never ever use stand by / rest mode is simple - my PS4 isn't connected to my modem and thus, im not online so regardless, it's not going to download a damn thing for me. When I need to go online with PS4, I take the Ethernet cable that's already plugged in, untie it and bring over ten feet to where my modem is, connect it, turn it on and after a few minutes, I turn on my PS4. If I need to download anything like I did last night, it will do it. Downloading and installing update 2.0 took 5 minutes combined. Not a big deal whatsoever.
But to each his / her own.
Hell I have not turned off my gaming PC since like 2008 hahaha. Still works perfect and when I get home there is no need to turn it on, wait for everything to load up, and waste 5+ min just waiting when I didn't need to. I could of moved the mouse, did what I needed to do in the time it took to boot up.
PS4 rest feature is same thing. It is downloading my updates, charging my controllers while I'm away, charging my Pulse headset while I'm away, and saves me time when I'm ready to use it. Speaking of convenience, my fiber internet is really good right 100 down 60 up, so using wireless seems counter intuitive because I won't get those speeds. My PC is hardlined only but my PS3 and PS4 are both on wireless, just for the sake I don't need to run any wires like you are doing. The speeds are plenty fast enough even on wireless to get the job done of playing online. Its the convenience that wireless supplies that I choose it.
You are correct, to each their own. Just funny to meComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
For people with the suspend issue, this fix is working for quite a few people.

I'll also check to see if I put my USB supply to always on.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
My setup would drive you crazy? Wow. I spent a combined 30 minutes last night connecting my PS4 to my modem, downloading, installing, going through the settings and whatnot and checking out the PS store which was at least 2/3rd the time as I was looking for playable demos but sadly, nothing there that I wanted to try.
Sorry to see all you guys having problems in and out of rest mode, I haven't seen any issues at all. Hopefully that fix works for you.Last edited by Gerg04; 10-30-2014, 11:40 AM.Comment

This worked for me as well. But the disc being in shouldnt be an issue at all. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Fridge has food in it. Why would I want my food that cost money to go to waste? I'm going to keep my PS4 on ALL DAY just to download and install updates that take 5 minutes to do?
I just don't see the point in leaving my PS4 (or any electric device for that matter) on when im not using it. Fridge is the lone exception because I don't want my food to go bad.
We don't have to have our PS4 in standby set to get updates, that's a choice, but it's convenient that it can so we can sit down and play right when we want. We could manually check for updates and install each time we wanted to play and spend some time downloading and installing updates but technology has improved our lives to not have such inconveniences if we choose.
Both devices provide benefits while we are away from home. They aren't light bulbs.Last edited by Mabster; 10-30-2014, 12:00 PM.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I ran into a nice 2.0 bug last night while trying to play destiny I haven't seen described here yet. Starting the game and it would tell me I didn't have permission to access the online multiplayer part of the game. Sounded like that psn + authentication error people were getting at some point. People in my fire team(through party chat not in game) assured me that they got that once or twice randomly and to just restart the application and it would fix itself. A dozen restarts later and still a no go.
On ONE of the restarts I got a different error message telling me I specifically didn't have permission to access online chat. That sounded like parental controls so I went to the settings. I was at 9 out of 12, the default level that everybody else was still set at. Set it to "allow" instead and it fixed my problems with Destiny.
This morning it occurred to me that maybe that was also the root of why I wasn't able to upload to YT yet. I was wrong there. It's still asking me to link accounts and asks for my credentials everytime I try. Then still fails upload once I link everything again.
TL;DR: 2.0 messed up ALL kinds of stuff!Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Looks like Sony is going a great job of fumbling away a lot of the momentum it had from the start of this console generation.
I'm a fan of Sony, but they really need to step it up during the upcoming holiday season and into 2015. PS Now flop, Driveclub fiasco, PSN downtime, and firmware update glitches have really put a damper on things.Ryan Spencer

Sony needs to pull that **** from the store. The developers should not be getting money when their product is still broken.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks

And this is why large updates like this are a terrible idea. They should release smaller updates more frequently. Doesn't have to be monthly or anything like that, but one large annual update is too much. When you modify a lot of things, there's a greater chance something in there is broken.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
At least you didn't pre order it and get the season pass like I did. But it's no sweat for me because I enjoy the offline modes more than the online modes to be honest.
But for the record it works well right now. I have been connected for the past three days.

Message from Shuhei Yoshida - President of World Wide Studios
Hi everyone,
I wanted to provide you with the latest update on DRIVECLUB. Unfortunately, the road to launch has been a little rocky, and we are truly sorry that so many of you have not been able to enjoy everything that we had hoped DRIVECLUB would deliver.
We have been listening to your feedback and realize that patience understandably is running out. Evo is working around the clock to close the gap, and we have deployed additional engineering resources to help resolve the remaining issues as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the time frames required to roll out the fully connected experience will be longer than anticipated and we do not have an exact time frame for when they will be resolved. We will continue to update you on progress and you can find the latest info on the DRIVECLUB Facebook page.
We are also very conscious that we have disappointed so many of you who were looking forward to playing the promised PS Plus Edition. Our first priority is to provide you with the best possible experience while playing DRIVECLUB. With the high volume of new players and additional server load the PS Plus Edition is anticipated to bring, we are currently not confident that we can guarantee the best online experience. Until we can ensure that everyone can enjoy the full social connected online experience, we will be postponing the release of the PS Plus Edition until further notice.
On behalf of WWS we are enormously grateful for your patience and we thank you for the continued support and encouragement. Again, we sincerely apologize for the delay. We are committed to giving you the best racing experience on PS4 – it’s taking a little longer than we hoped.
Thanks,
ShuComment
