Why can't they wait three years? The base PS4 could have easily gone five years in of itself without an upgrade so with an upgrade, why do you think that Sony can't wait three years to release PS5?

I bought a Pro too but would I buy a Pro2 next year? Hell no. Once is more than enough. Spending what is basically $1200 on the same console is not exactly a good investment for any consumer.

I agree 100% that Pro was mainly for PSVR. If anything, Sony should have canned Pro and held PSVR for PS5. At least, that's what I would have done because well OR and Vive aren't exactly setting the world on fire and Sony is well more known than both of those companies when it comes to gaming.

Oh well. I see Pro as a one time thing unless it sells like hotcakes this holiday season and PSVR as a one and done because when the company that made the damn thing isn't supporting it, why would any other company?

Bottom line, even if you don't have to have the new hardware or care, it's going to affect you in regards to not getting your moneys worth out of your current system. I'm all for upgrades, heck I have always upgraded myself, I just bought a Pro last winter and plan to get the Scorpio too. But I'm a bit concerned about way too frequent upgrades and it seems that may be where we are heading.

As an aside, it sort of has the overall feeling, to me anyways, as the time period when Atari crashed and burned, albeit for different reasons of course. If they alienate consumers by throwing constant new hardware out there it could be the same end result.

      Agreed man

Because they will have the weakest console on the market by far for 3 years. It will be a gap bigger than we have ever seen before. I'm not sure they will be willing to deal with that. I agree with most of what you say. I won't buy "pro2". I don't think they should do it but I will be surprised if they don't release something that is a little closer to Scorpio specs. The problem here is them releasing the pro in the first place. It's puts them in an awful spot. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Weakest console doesn't mean anything and in general, neither does power. If it did, we would all be PC gamers. LOL. It's all about the games and thus far, while there has been a few good games on Xbox One, Sony's exclusives completely blow them away in regards to what im personally looking for - single player focused games. Lack of power and specs isn't going to change that.

I agree in regards to releasing the Pro to begin with as it wasn't and isn't needed especially when you see Uncharted 4 running and being played on the base PS4.

The main thing is that while I do think Scorpio will outsell Pro head to head, it's for different reasons. The base Xbox One and even the Slim are so underpowered compared to the base PS4 and especially the Pro, those who play on Xbox One, mainly third party games, those people are probably more to the point of being sick and tired of getting the inferior/lesser ports/versions.

At least that's what I think the majority of those who buy Scorpio and don't own or want to own a PS4 are thinking. They want their games to run and look better because they didn't get that for the first four years.

But in no way, shape or form do I think that Scorpio will all of a sudden make Xbox One sell more or lower the 2-1 sales difference. I also think that it has to do with the exclusives on Xbox One also being on PC. Those who don't own a gaming PC or don't play on a gaming PC want the extra visual stuff but on a console so they will buy Scorpio. Also, for those who do play on PC, I think that a good amount would buy Scorpio just so they can avoid dealing with the Windows store and all the problems that majority say it has in regards to running and playing the Xbox One exclusives.

I believe that Pro was a forced move due to PSVR and to do it a second time two years later while your console is literally crushing everything in it's path would literally make even less sense than Pro was. Not only that but both Sony and Microsoft need to be careful with oversaturating the market with hardware. It was one of the main aspects that led to Sega dying and getting out of the hardware business. This also literally killed Atari back in the day. It doesn't work and people are intelligent enough to see through it as nothing more than cash grabs.

With all of that said, I will be buying Scorpio because well, I have a Pro, 4K HDR TV so what the hell, why not? Between Pro and Scorpio, the upgrade makes a lot more sense for Microsoft due to Xbox One having the lesser/inferior ports the majority of the time and even their own exclusives not being able to run at 1080P. In this regard, it makes sense. However, I still think that Microsoft would have been better off waiting another year and just going all out with Xbox 4 and get away from the "One" name.

Have to wait and see what happens and I agree, it will be interesting.

I'm more of an MS guy, but sorry, i don't see Scorpio outselling the pro head to head at all. Funny thing as I mention in quote of few of my posts, this short cycle updated consoles are bad for business IMO, cause yes is hard core gamers will buy, but it's the casual gamer you want to buy, and with all these System SKU's the casual gamer won't know anything and will buy the cheaper old one . It's silly IMO

Scorpio will likely cost even more and have less compelling exclusives so I don't believe there is any real reason to think it will do any better.

One thing that hurt the pro was not including a 4k blu-ray player.

When the PS4 came out it barely had any good exclusives either. What helped the PS4 a lot was the entire power/resolution thing. Many Xbox gamers I knew left for the PS4 based on that alone. Not to mention that every media outlet kept mentioning the power gap all the time as well.

There will be no such thing as a "scorpio exclusive".

I know, I didn't say Scorpio exclusive. Xbox One exclusives just aren't there comparable to the PS4s lineup.
