    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I had the OG and upgraded to the Pro when it came out. The best way I can put it is that my girlfriend talked about how it looked better. She cares nothing about TVs or gaming so for her to say something was surprising.

Graphic difference is nice but the deciding factor for me is the performance difference. Less hiccups and improved load times for the win.

Frame rate with The Show was enough for me to love the Pro..

I should note I have a 4k HDR capable set and already have one slim but my son has taken that system over lol.

Simply, for me, the difference was significant and worth every penny to up to the Pro on my 4k set. Any game I played looked and performed better.

Well....not getting the Glacier White PS4 Pro. I REALLY like the Glacier White, but after thinking it over, an investment of over $1,000(System + 4K/HDR TV) to play the same games I can already play just didn't make much sense to me, especially when I can use that money to increase my retro gaming library (really wanting a red PS3). And with the Louisville Arcade Expo coming up in about 6 weeks, I'd like to save up money for that.

So hopefully the Glacier White PS4 Pro isn't a limited edition type thing, and I can get one somewhere down the road.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

I hear ya, CB. I'd love to upgrade to a Pro and 4K TV, but that's really not in the budget right now, and if I did have that money, it'd likely go towards our summer vacation.

I need to update my Retro Gaming thread now that I think of it.

I'm in the same boat as you fellas... I dont have a 4k TV yet... And my OG PS4 is working perfectly fine so I dont see the need to upgrade right now.

I have a 4K set and don’t feel like upgrading. It’s almost double the price of a normal console which is always on sale. This is the second year of the Pro. Really hoping they cut the price or EB Games has a good Trade in offer.

I'm getting ready to buy a PS4 Pro over the next few weeks. I've only owned Xbox and have the XOX now. Whats the problem with charging controllers on the system? How does it work? is it like XOX you charge while playing?

You might be using the USB port for something else or you might be using the USB cable for something else. Or if you have many controllers, you can get up to four charged with two in the docking station and two in the PS4.

Again, for the PS3 I had a different docking station that also charged my Bluetooth headset and had an extra USB out. I liked the look more and it overall just had more function (I think it was cheaper too). It was more necessary for the PS3 as well because PS3 controllers wouldn't charge if it was just in standby mode, whereas they will on the PS4.

                      Here's what it looked like:

Anyone know if you can exchange an unused digital code for another game on PSN? I got a code for UFC 3: Champions Edition (never played this series) for Christmas from my sister, but I'll probably be playing the new MLB The Show way more when it comes out a month and half later.

Yeah spending money on a new TV just so you can play the same games but make them look a little bit better I am not sure if that is really worth the money or not. I have a 4k TV that I got a little over a year ago the Samsung ks8000 55 inch TV but just a slim ps4. But to me it was worth getting that TV because I went from having a 37 inch Sony 2007 720p upscale 1080p tv to having this TV. I wanted a new bigger better newer TV any way and that is what I got and now I will be ready for ps5 when a lot more games will be 4k and ever thing looks better on this TV. To me it was not worth getting a pro when I already have a slim would rather just wait for ps5 to do 4k when the games will be new.

That is very fair, and probably a lot more sane than what many of us are doing buying a Pro this late in the cycle.

I just don't like this mid gen upgrade thing. If pro had cost the same but had a 4k player in it then I would have most likely got one has it would have cost like the same to upgrade has it like cost me to get a standard 4k player or at least close to it. Sony really messed up not having a 4k bluray player in the pro. I think ps5 will come out in 2020. Ps4 sales are still doing great and still a lot of big games to come. 2018 you got GOW, Spider-Man, days gone then in 2019 I think you will see death stranding, TLOU2 ,ghost of tsushima and then I think you will see ps5 in 2020 with a Horizon sequel being a day 1 game on ps5.

I don't disagree. This would have been an easy decision for me if it had a UHD player.

I just impulsively purchased one simply "because," but playing The Show with that framerate had me salivating a new one. I forget why I eventually held onto both this one and my original one. My original hardly gets any play time as is. I brought it over to a friend's house to play a Blu-ray a couple of weeks ago, and it's been sitting on my bedroom floor unplugged since.
