    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

These idiots need to actually think before they do a flat conversion from GBP to USD, Sony sets prices based on the Euro, and even then the Euro isn't a straight conversion, they are historically set at the same number, not value. For instance the super slim was released at $299, 299€ ($390), and 29,900 yen ($306).

    £300 is 350€

If they can't launch worldwide this fall (which has already been hinted I believe) that could also lead to different pricing and even different SKUs the way they dropped BC for the PS3 EU launch if memory serves.

I rarely game much, just when I feel like it, so as long as the PS4 isn't 'always-on', then I'm all in.

Gamasutra: Inside the PlayStation 4 With Mark Cerny

What follows is a total breakdown of the hardware from a developer's perspective: the chips on the board, and what they're capable of.

Questions on the UI and OS were off the table. What was up for discussion is what the system is capable of, and the thinking that lead Cerny and his team to make the decisions they made about the components they chose and how they function together.

Enjoyed watching the video of the DS 4. I can see myself using the "share" button quite a bit when it comes to the Show.

Now, am anxiously awaiting for the preorders to officially start in the US

                    Supercharged PS4 launch games

The result of this familiarity, according to Cerny, is that the first PS4 titles out of the gate will rival all of Sony's past video game launches.
"The launch lineup for PlayStation 4 - though I unfortunately can't give the title count - is going to be stronger than any prior PlayStation hardware," said Cerny.
So far, we know from the PlayStation Meeting event that PS4 will see games like Killzone: Shadow Fall, Driveclub, Infamous: Second Son, Watch Dogs, and Cerny's own game, Knack.
Whether or not these specific games end up being PS4 launch titles remains to be seen.

Please someone tell me that all this EA exclusivity to the new xbox talk is a bunch of BS. I seriously doubt EA would just leave all that revenue from games like Battlefield on the table.

There is no way any of the sports games could be exclusive to one console in my opinion. The licensing deals wouldn't let that happen right?

I expect timed exclusivity and dlc is all, if that. Probably not as much for sports titles.

SCEA has a deal like that with MLB, which is why The Show is only on Playstation. But 2K got the multi-platform exclusive deal.

So if EA goes Xbox only, they could make a NFL licensed game for Xbox only, but I'm sure another company could purchase the NFL/NFLPA license to make a multi-platform NFL game. I think you're right in that the major pro leagues wouldn't want their licensed games to appear on only one console.

I find it ironic that Peter Moore was with Sega at the time the Dreamcast got left out of the EA Sports games back then and now we hear this. I would bet this will be more along the lines of early release for specific games for each console. They know from their early preview program people will pay to play a game early. Why not collect from the console manufacturers as well to have it release on their console earlier for a fee.

You have your licensing terms confused, 2K had a third party exclusive deal, Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo all have the license available to them. Other than common sense, there's nothing stopping Sony from making The Show for whatever platform they choose.

I know how the deal with the Show and 2K works.

But when you say you are sure another company could purchase a license for multi-platform games, (NFL) with Madden it wouldn't matter if they re-up with an exclusive deal with the NFL. Xbox would be the only system you could play Madden on. This is what scares the hell out of me. I could totally see this kind of stuff happening next gen. I have a feeling we are in for a bunch of bureaucratic BS, and gamers will be the ones who suffer.

I don't want to buy both systems. At least not for a couple years into the cycle. But I have to play The Show and Madden.
