    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

For me it's about the non ability to get whatever $ you can towards a new game ,which can still be a nice amount with the trade deals that come around, even a year later. Eliminates the Ebay/Craiglist route also.
I like seeing the games also...
Until there's a real advantage for ME to all digital there's no way I'm going that route for all games.

THIS. It never records the "first" time, so I just make a dummy attempt to start the clock.

Unless you're a "collector "I just see no point in keeping a game you will never play again when you can get cash (credit I know but its still liquid) in your hands and available to offset the cost of a new game.

If I had the time and money to buy, keep and most importantly PLAY every game I guess I'd buy them all full price and hold on to them. However since real life puts all those things at a premium, it just makes the most logical and economical sense to trade in and get something back instead of it collecting dust.

I never even thought about trying this. Thank you!

I have 3 tote full of games from Intellivision through XBOX360..
I only really keep those games that have been great experiences or in the case of the Intellivision and NES.. just sentimental reasons.

            Everything else I trade/sell

My parents sold my NES in a yard sale in 1996 when I was 13 and they figured I was done playing video games…. Lol how they were wrong, and how I wish I still had that collection.

Sentimental value and classics are 1 thing. But when you can essentially "rent" a game like Madden for 6 month's for $40 bucks, getting $20ish back for it in February when the season's over is a no-brainer to me. Especially when I know I'm getting the next version that August.

Madden may not be the best analogy I realize bc some ppl love their football year round. In general the, when you know you beat a game you dont plan on going back to/ get bored of it/ run out of time to play/ will be getting the next version in the near futures I just don't know why one wouldnt trade in. Gamestop saves me a ton of money.

Guacamelee is great. Simple, but I had to pry myself away from it last night.

I'll never buy digital just in the fact that unless there is serious replay value(something like Skyrim, etc) I'm going to trade it in to get other games. No point in buying something like The Show digital for me because as soon as the season is over and I have NHL 15 I won't touch it

The exception being things like FF7-9 I have on my PS3

This is not directly a PS4 post, but I didn't want to start a new thread (it's a risky business)...

Do you guys remember when the last (previous) gen was released how "Next Geneartion this" and "Next Generation that" was flying all over and appeared on the back of boxes etc.. Doesn't seem like it's used like that anymore.

Would you consider something like that on the back of the box - being silly these days? Are we now too...'mature' for that? What have changed? Thoughts?

Advertising buzzwords just changed, that's it.

We went from "next-gen technology" to the "power of the cloud" and the like.

Yeah, with RPG's I basically never sell them, and usually regret it at some point when I do. Because when I really enjoy one, I might pick it up and play through it again years later. I re-bought Tales of Graces digitally several weeks ago after trading it in around a year ago (at Xillia's release), because I just wanted to play it again.

I'm even playing through Star Ocean 3 again right now - which I've held onto since the PS2 days - now that I figured how to get it properly emulated (it's my own disc AND my own dumped BIOS, so it's about as legal as you can get, I think).

Even for sports games it's hard for me to justify trading them in because they're worth very little by the time I don't actually play them anymore. I tend to play them year-round and not just in-season.

So was just thinking about this earlier but we're fixing to hit a real upswing in games we all want to play finally hitting...

From about the end of this month with the TLoU and onwards it's going to be almost non stop. My wallet is gonna be hurting but damn I can't wait. This fall and winter is going to be a blast gaming wise!

I really hope that they fix the PS4 recording at some point. There's been so many times where I wanted to share something only to find out that it didn't save anything. Unless you manually set it record, it seems like it's pretty random. Just had an amazing fight in EA UFC that I can't watch again.

Was there a patch that broke this? I feel like at launch it was flawless

Recording does work but it's a pain to understand how it works. Once you know, it's easy.

Basically, if you start a new recording point at any time, you immediately delete the last 15 minutes of recorded footage.

Absolutely be sure you know how you have the share button set. When you want to save the past 15 minutes, go to the share settings and you'll see a prompt to save the video file.

Do anything different like take a screen shot or press start recording point and you're done. It will disappear.
