I believe that yes the PS3 PS+ games have spioiled us a lot. Just not the amount of games yet for PS4 to compete with what we got/get with the PS3+.

I agree with Sky. The lack of games is a huge factor with lack of quality titles offered via PS Plus

I haven't picked up my PS4 for anything other than WWE Network and BF Beta in months. Granted with the new baby, downtime is limited, but just huge lack of titles I am interested in. Looks like this fall will pick up for me with Madden, NHL, and WWE to name a few.

I think the PS4 selection is equal parts lack of games to give away other than making it rain indies and the beginning of resetting gamers' expectations of the service. The quality seen on the PS3 PS+ offerings is an aberration due to the conclusion of that console cycle rather than the high standard to judge the PS4 offerings against.

There are better games they could have offered, Transistor, Entwined, Valiant Hearts, Child of Light, Octodad, Sound Shapes (although not new, would have had more mass appeal)

I don't know, it just feels like more and more it's like someone said "pick out the least interesting games in the catalog to make PS+ freebies".

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if KZ was the free game. I heard that the online community is essentially dead and most of the DLC's are free. Not to mention it had its price dropped to $20 recently. That usually means something. And it wouldn't be too bad of an idea marketing-wise either.. If people really enjoy the game, changes are they'll contemplate purchasing the DLC, and buy future KZ titles.

I would love it if it came free because I've ALWAYS wanted to play it, but I've never taken the jump on it. I loved 2 and 3.

Strider is probably my favorite freebie that they've given us so far. Haven't really bothered with too many of the other ones outside of Contrast and a little bit of Outlast.

I'm surprised Knack hasn't been offered yet to be honest.

I guess I'm "lucky" by switching back to Sony after X360 and Live's paywall scheme. My expectations were pretty grounded so spending $30 for PS Plus and getting 2 free games a month (no matter what they are) is still fantastic to me. Still, I wouldn't call the collection crap considering its the first year of PS4 and the system didn't start 2 years ago. Outlast, Don't Starve, Trine 2, and Resogun are all easily worth the price of a year subscription to me.

I feel you. I was on the 360 for years and got nothing but the ability to play multiplayer and watch Netflix. These free games from Sony are just icing on the cake for me.

Lunch time = braving Wal-Mart and trading in Watch Dogs for TLOU. Get home. Work out while the patch downloads. Play the game until bedtime in a sweaty mess.

I've been pretty let down by the PS4 PS+ games as well, just a lot of duds in there:

Contrast OK game, really short. Forgettable
Resogun Not my thing
Don't Starve Not a horrible game, lost interest fairly quickly because of slow pace and starting from scratch
Outlast Not bad, sat it aside until I finally bought a headset, should probably give it another go
Dead Nation: Apocalypse Edition meh. Was already free on PS3, was mediocre then
Mercenary Kings Huge let down, art style was great, gameplay was OK, set up of game was horrid
Stick It to the Man! Never got around to playing it, should though.
PixelJunk Shooter: Ultimate (cross-buy) Meh, not a big fan of these
Trine 2: Complete Story Another PS3 freebie rehash
Doki-Doki Universe (cross-buy) Never could pin down WTF this was supposed to be, haven't played it
Strider Thought this was very mediocre
TowerFall: Ascension Pretty simplistic, too simplistic for my taste. Really only good for local co-op, which is like .0000001% of my gaming time


All the PS4 free games and my take. Maybe the life of PS3 PS+ games have just spoiled me, but to say the PS4 free games have been a let down would be an understatement.

You forgot WAR OF THUNDER....

At first I thought that given 2 more years of PS4, we could see great free games being a Plus subscriber. But I will not keep my hopes high because of the PS NOW where we will rent games with those absurd prices.

PS4 MP3 Support Coming This Holiday; No Discounts for PS Now Games You Already Own -- Report

Back in April, we reported on a rumor that the PlayStation 4 was getting MP3 support. Nothing official came from Sony, but many people thought it likely that the console would get some sort of external music compatibility at some point. Recently, we got more evidence that such an update is in the works.

According to reddit user IWorkForSony, who has been verified by r/PS4 subreddit moderators as a Sony employee, Sony is currently developing an update for the PS4 that will bring MP3 and video player support by the holiday season. The user also said that DLNA media server support will come some time in 2015.
