Target does not charge me $50 a year to go into their stores and shop



I did not give Sony huge issue last time since we did not pay for online service



Now they are so regardless of the excuses this is happening to Sony right now and we might have 2 days of no access

Sony is not the only one it happened to recently. Take your 50 and go somewhere else. No one is holding you hostage. It's a ddos attack.

There's an obvious trend on this site and I don't understand. It's perfectly fine to bash Xbox for anything they do, but when anyone speaks against sony it's the worst thing to do and many here come to the defense of Sony and get upset for any comment made against sony. It's sad because we're paying for these services and they should be held to a higher standard no matter the brand. I own both consoles and enjoy them both, but we can't act like this fine and ok. Oh and Boltman, it'd be nice if you read my comments about my account on PSN being compromised without being biased. I clearly explained my situation which wasn't my fault and a select few instead of holding Sony accountable say it was my fault which was comical at best to me. If it happens with my account in Xbox live I'd be upset too. So no one is allowed to be upset with this situation? No one is allowed to express their frustration and concerns when it comes to sony?

I still can't sign into PSN. Was hoping to play some BF.

I don't think anyone has said you can't be upset or frustrated. I think it's more the sense of entitlement coming across in what you say. You seem to be under the impression that just because you pay $50 for something it should be guaranteed to work all the time. It doesn't matter how much you pay, it's a network service which is susceptible to glitches or errors. I pay $9.99 for the WWE Network but it doesn't always necessarily work at all times. It's technology and unfortunately with technology it's not always guaranteed to be working perfectly at all times. And along with that you have people out there who are very intelligent when it comes to computers, technology and especially hacking and when they have a negative agenda or motive in their head they can be capable of doing a lot of things. Banks, computer companies, billion dollar companies are all susceptible to hackers. It's unforunate especially as our society continues to become more and more dependable on technology but nothing is perfect.

And again, we're all frustrated and obviously not happy but there's this sense of entitlement that just because you pay $50 for the service they aren't allowed to have problems.

Finally able to get in and play some Battlefield 4. Hopefully more log on quick enough because right now there's 4 of us in a Conquest game lol. Don't think i've ever seen this few people in a game ever.

If you had a legitimate complaint (network is slow, inconsistent, etc), then yeah sure. But if you don't understand how it isn't a company's fault you got hacked because YOU provide the login credentials, that's when we'll object

I setup up my long strong password and a week later when I turn on the console it doesn't allow me to log on to PSN. I called Sony and they told me my account was compromised. Through PSN whoever compromised my account changed my loggin email and password and got access to my personal info and credit card info. I was told to call my bank and cancel my card and ask for a new one. At that same time a few other members on AVS forum were experiencing similar things. This was back in November last year. That's a security flaw no matter how YOU want to paint it. If you want to continue on the topic feel free to shoot me a PM.

A security flaw on who's end? The end-user whose password was apparently not encrypted strong enough to prevent a compromise? Or the company's whose "flaw" only resulted in a handful of its clients' accounts being compromised?

I'm thinking its more the end-user. If there had been a larger number of users affected (yourself and "a few other members" probably doesn't mean an intrusion) then you would probably be right to be pissed at Sony.

Its basically the same as if somebody got your email or Amazon passwords.

it has been said quite a few times. someone getting access to your account has nothing to do with the servers that hold the information, it is having to do with someone cracking your password. many ways to do it, possibly a phishing email?

And if they have access to your password, they can access your account. if they get your login info, they can log in and change the account information, same as you. email address. address. name. phone. whatever else might be on there. If you have cc information stored in the account, when they view the account they can view what cc info is available. i believe only last 4 digits are available when viewing your account, but my guess would be they told you to cancel the cc's tied to the account as a safety precaution.

So no, nobody hacked into sony, stole your info, then changed it. someone got access to your password. with a username and password, why would they be prevented from logging in?
