Don't know if anyone remembers this post of mine...



I was about to try my PS TV I never opened last month, so I was going to unplug my YLOD'ed PS3 I haven't touched in months. As a last-ditch effort I wanted to see if I could remove my disc that was in there... and it turned on, and ejected.

Has anybody ever heard of a PS3 un-YLOD'ing itself? Granted, I don't know if this thing has legs on it still or if this is a one-time thing (I still have it running, playing music). But should I be concerned? Did it fix itself? What the hell happened here?

Then again, I still don't know what caused it to YLOD the first time, except for the power outage doing its thing.

Hopefully it's back for good! The PS3 is a superior Blu-ray player to the PS4 as is.

Still gotta try out PS TV now haha. Don't know if I want to risk turning off this thing anymore.

Yea I had my very first 40GB PS3 I had bought do this I think up to like 10 times before it finally died. Sucked cause at first I thought I got lucky. So more then likely death is very close with it.

So I downloaded and installed the 2.01 update last week.. put my console in rest mode yesterday and it wouldn't boot back up.

I did have a game in the console.. do I still need to remove the game to put it in rest mode with the update?

I got the new update and have a disc in and it works normal..boots up when placed in rest mode.

Yea since the update I haven't had the issue anymore either.

Just booted up from rest mode for the first time since the issues happened and it worked fine.

Same here rest mode has been working fine for me since the update fix. I don't know if mine had the issue before as I waited for the fix since alot of people were experiencing the issue so I stayed away.

Nice, just got my credit too. Sony came through as promised. I have about $40 in my account now, still debating whether to pay $20 for COD lol.

I say get COD, it really has that "fun" and "one more game" feel. I'm having fun with a group and solo.

I've been having some trouble since the update also. Last night I put it into rest mode to charge the controller while we went to dinner, came back and it wouldnt power up and had the orange light. Held down the power button for a while and it came on and did some stuff and ran fine. Later NBA2k15 crashed so i went to the dash to close the application and it was takng forever and seemed as though it wouldnt close it. Eventually I tried to power off the system, the screen came up saying to to unplug while powering down and I walked away, came back a long while later to the same screen.

Makes me nervous to continue using it if this is going to keep happening.

In case anyone is on the fence about buying a headset or is looking to pick one up soon, I want to reiterate what many have said here.

I just picked up the Sony Gold Wireless (white) and can't tell you how pleased I am. The quality of sound you get adds a new dynamic to every game. On top of that the comfort level of these things are just top notch. You don't even realize they're there. Extremely happy with the purchase and just wanted to pass it along. Good day.

Word to the wise, you're not supposed to leave discs in consoles after you power them down.
