Sometimes off, sometimes standby. -
Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The system is designed to sit in standby. If you have PS Plus you're doing yourself a disservice having it off as it won't automatically download updates, etc. It's also not necessarily great for an electronic device that's designed to be in standby to constantly be turned completely on and off.
The only time I turn it completely off is when going out of town.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Using the Vue free trial while I try to negotiate a renewal of my discounts with AT&T for U-Verse.
The zip code that Vue recognizes for me isn't correct. If I change it to the correct one, it won't work. If I leave it as Vue has it, it works fine. If I eventually switch to Vue, is that a problem to leave it? I'd probably change ISPs too, so my network would change.
Aside from that, I'm really liking Vue. I actually like the vertical guide. Picture has been good for me so far. I'm thinking about just cutting AT&T and moving over full time.
Edit: How well does Vue work with the Firestick? I'd probably do that for the TV in my bedroom ... well, it's either that or another PS4.Last edited by LowerWolf; 05-01-2016, 07:30 PM.Comment

The only issue I've had is slow menu navigation, and every once in a while I lose connection with my wi-fi. Not a huge deal as a reset of the connection fixes it, but a minor annoyance.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Not sure how long this deal will last but anyone looking for the PlayStation 4 digital download version of Alien Isolation: The Collection, it's available via Amazon for $14.79.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Completely off-topic but this gen and more importantly PS4 needs another Midnight Club game.
Probably my favorite racing series because of the music, cars, scene, etc. associated with it. Rockstar, make it happen!

I don't do well with jump scares but I heard this game is great"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

As for Vue on a Fire Stick, it is not terrible, but it is noticeably more sluggish than the PS4 app. The PS3 and FireStick apps run comparably, from my experience.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have Fios and Intended to cut half the cord, Just wanted the local channels(with on demand) and HBO. So to my delight, when I got my cable boxes, they were both fully loaded with every channel. Every channel and I pay for just the basic ones. I will literally die with these boxes, Never going to upgrade.
As far as the PS4.5, I will have to look at what Xbox does. I will get at least one upgraded system for the 4k, don't see the need for two.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
The detected zip was a couple of hours south of me. I contacted tech support just to be safe. The guy had me log out, and he said he could fix it but I'd have to unsubscribe and resubscribe and I'd lose the trial. Since it was working fine, I told him I'd keep the trial and deal with it later. I logged back in and it's the right zip now.
My main TV has the PS4, so the Firestick would just be for the secondary TV. I think I could live with some sluggishness on it.
Really really tempted to cancel U-Verse and go Vue. I don't mind the vertical guide at all, and it makes you realize that channel numbers are antiquated now.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
This is the first time that I've been excited about the free games of the month in a long time. Been looking at Tropico for a while, but was just waiting to snag it for cheap. That Table Top racing game looks interesting too. Hopefully that one is a lot of fun as well.Comment
