There are issues of market penetration and console generation length when it comes to talking about passing the PS2.

But yeah, both consoles are doing well, the PS4 exceptionally so.

Yeah it is going to be hard to do that but who knows. I do think it has a great changes of at least passing ps1 though and being the 3erd Sony system to do 100 million +.

If they can get the price down on the OG when Neo hits, and into the Neo cycle so the price drops can be almost PS2 like... it will have a decent chance.

But I think they are content for now, not rushing to drop the price vs. a larger margin, since current sales are still trending well.

Depends, both the Xbox One and PS4 could see a premature end as more powerful hardware is released and the traditional console cycles are redefined.

Nice. They really need to improve the app because it sucks on Xbox.

if that was to happen it would not be a crowning achievement as pS2 never got the chance to produce a mid gen upgrade to entice more sales after it started to not sell as much as the first few years

To me vanilla ps4 vs ps2 is the battle and that is no contest.

I would count NEO combined with the base PS4 because the base PS4 would decline in sales due to the NEO so it's still connected. When Scorpio gets released, im going to count that combined with the base Xbox One.

They are both playing their current gen's software. Same disc, same gen, same sales total.

PS2 had the slim to get a bump in sales, it also had more price cuts. Price cuts/slim model/upgrade, I don't see the difference.

I would count NEO combined with the base PS4 because the base PS4 would decline in sales due to the NEO so it's still connected. When Scorpio gets released, im going to count that combined with the base Xbox One.

Also from what I have heard NEO is only going to be a 2 times more powerful than ps4. Scorpio on the other hand is going to be 4 times has powerful has xboxone. So really from the sound of things sounds like Scorpio is almost like a new gen where NEO may be a much smaller upgrade.

So I was just thinking about something when it comes to the ps2 and ps3 sales. Ps2 out sold xbox like 6-1 and if you combined xbox and gamecube like 3.33 to 1 that is nuts! Even though ps4 is sailing great it is only out sailing xboxone like 2-1 lol.

You can count it but is like saying you got into a fight with a guy and his brother jumped in and they whooped you...Is it a fair fight because they are related to one another?

PS2 did not have the chance to release an update to their model which would have sold tons more if we go by that logic based on how popular PS was in those days.

Scorpio is not even in the same planet as XB1 vanilla.. That is a whole new generation regardless of what MS tells you. If you go by that then the console generation is over because MS plans to have all hardware tied to UWP

Scorpio will be a new console and those sales should not be added to base xb1. Because is a totally new machine

Neo not as drastic but is still a big upgrade not only in performance but it has additional hardware not found in vanilla ps4.
