Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
4K means nothing to me but I understand why people want it.
I do stand by my prediction that NEO is next fall. The Slim is this fall.

I think you are right. Would like to see NEO and Scorpio drop around the same time.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
WOW!!! PlayStation Meeting on September 7th just became a lot more interesting. The slim looks ugly to me though. Easily prefer the current base PS4 as it's small enough and looks better in my opinion.
Definitely wondering if Neo still gets released this year. And now with the slim model looking to be realistic, the next question becomes release dates and price tags.
Base $200, Slim $300 and Neo $400???
Sad part is that as of today, I was leaning towards swapping my base PS4 for Neo but now if it gets delayed until 2017 due to the Slim, everything changes. Even when I decide to change my mind, something else happens that pisses me off. UGH.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I don't understand why this continues to baffle you so much. Let's say this is simply a slim that offers 4K. They'll now have a new model of their console that continues to be significantly smaller that what MS offers, while still having the higher spec internals plus 4K. They can then push Neo to next fall, out-spec (again) or at least be on par with Scorpio and MS for (what Mestevo has rightly called) the next generation of consoles.
Outside of the Neo/Scorpio news, this is also almost exactly what has happened the past couple of generations. Console release, slim release, new console release. .Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I do not think it is ugly at all. It is sleek and in line with Apple TV/Mac Mini styling with still the Sony/PS4 recognizable DNA.
Will I get rid of my OG for it, no, but the mass appeal will find it's look just fitting in modern electronics/TV-plug in devices in the home.
There is no mention of UHD/4K on the box... so Neo will be coming. Sony is not going sit on their hands, when they want to push 4K, and allow MSFT to have a year of that.

I know the slim obviously costs less to manufacture but at the same time, what about the current base PS4? How many of these do they still have in their inventory? Will there be a price cut? You can say that the slim would cost less to manufacture but when you have warehouses full of the base PS4, wouldn't that just be flushing money down toilet?
As for Neo, one guy posted on neogaf that Neo has gone into mass production and is coming out this year. Also, Sony is flying out press members to the PlayStation Meeting. No way in hell Sony is doing all this just to announce and show a PS4 slim.
Another factor is that October 1st deadline in which all games released October 1st and beyond are required to have a base PS4 mode and a Neo mode. If this date stays intact and no rumors go around that it's been pushed back between now and September 7th, then I would think that Neo gets released by early November 100% because if Neo gets delayed to 2017, then there's no point in having a required Neo mode for games that would be months or possibly a year old by the time Neo gets released.
Here's something we all can agree on - September 7th can't get here fast enough!!!Comment

"Too much at the same time..."
Walks into the store, sees all the Apple/MSFT/LG/Samsung/etc., products.
Walks out whistling quietly.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
There is a rumor posted on Reddit saying the Slim will be released on September 14. Even if the Neo comes out this year, not adding 4K to the Slim (if it in fact doesn't have it) is a mistake in my opinion. Most of doing that is software changes, the only hardware change they would have to do is add the 4K copy protection compliant HDMI ports.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Not necessarily, it depends on the drive they use. There's not a special 4K blu-ray drive, it just has to be able to read BDXL discs. Everything else drive-wise is software based.Comment
