Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Redzone for $40 doesn't seem too bad. You do have to upgrade your Vue package to the Core or Elite. The promotion they are running that automatically upgrades your package from Slim to Elite free for 3 months doesn't count as an upgrade. You would then be downgraded and have to pay extra for a higher package plus the Redzone channel. You do get the NFLN with the Elite promotion.Comment

Well i dont play sports video games as much as i used to becuase i have gotten into none sports games a lot more then i used to and i dont have the time i used to. So i have cut back on sports games and gotten more into playing none sports games but i love love watching and playing sports though. Well to me Wii u has like 2 must have games and some other good games to but i understand what you are saying about its price. When ps4 came out it was only 50 more even with how much stronger it was and in all these years wii u hasnt really went down in price that much. It wasnt just price that hurt the wii u but price compared to its power and compared to its lack of power compared to the xboxone and ps4. If wii u was much more powerful then its 350 day 1 price wouldnt have been so bad.

The amount of tracks like tripped with all the DLC lol. Its like a new game. Infamous i still need to beat. Also have batman arkham knight and i wasnt dissapointed in it really unlike a lot of people i love it and think it is the best in the franchise and like a top 3 game of all time. Well i was thinking maybe playing the 2013 Tomb Raider becuase it is cheap and then if i like it by the time i get passed it the newer one may be really cheap to.

Well i am with you on not really thinking the whole NEO thing is a good idea but if i can get it kind of cheap after a trade in like you said then i maybe would. I really want a 4k TV they look amazing and i think the jump to 4k is bigger then going from SD to 720 or from going 720 to 1080p and even on smaller TV's. The whole 4k TV needs to be really big to see the difference is a bunch of BS. I dont know how any one can only need a 500 GB hard drive that is so small now days with ever thing having to be installed on the hard drive but i dont get rid of games and go back and play old games from time to time and with the 500 GB i am already down to around 44 GB. After TLG in october i may already be out of hard drive space or if not it will not be long after that. 2 TB is the biggest hard drive you can put into a ps4 right? I think 2 TB would be enough. 1 Tb i know wouldnt be enough forever either and 1.5 maybe.
500GB hard drive is more than enough for me because im not a digital gamer and I don't keep/collect games anymore. Right now, I have around 200GB or so of free space. I have nine PSN/Indie games and they take up very little space. I do have two digital games though. The Witcher III and both expansions. Total is around 60GB. The Witcher III is by far the highest rated game for me ever at an 9.8/10 so because of that and the expansions, I made a very rare exception and purchased it digitally a few months ago when it was on sale. I am kind of pissed though because I could have waited for the complete edition on disc that comes out Tuesday but at the same time, I wouldn't have had the three months to play through it like I did in June, July and August. Oh well, it's arguably my best game of all time so I can't complain.
The second digital game is The Last of Us Remastered. This is simple really. Tied for being the second highest rated game for me ever and it was only $8.00. Seriously, how could I (or anyone for that matter) pass that deal up? That's around 50GB or so if I remember correctly.
Other games I have installed are AC Unity, Doom and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Don't remember them offhand but let's say 50GB for each. That's 260GB between these three and the two digital games. The actual free space is 408GB. Even if I put the nine PSN/Indie games at 18GB total (which im sure it's much lower), that still leaves me 130GB in free space.
By the time I add to it, Doom and Deus Ex will be finished and gone. Now, if I were to still have these games come October with Mafia III, ROTTR and Battlefield 1, then I'll most likely have a problem but to be blunt, that's just not going to happen. LOL.Comment

I know Colin loves Housemarque (as do I) but I disagree in regards to him thinking that Resogun and Dead Nation are better than Alienation. Alienation takes what was good in Dead Nation, adds so much more and just makes the game better. I love all the re-rolling of stats and constantly trying to get better weapons. Resogun is an excellent space shooter but im just not into them at all anymore. Sine Mora (xbox 360) was the only space shooter that I have played since the days of SNES.
Back to the slim, im still predicting $300. At $350, PS4 was outselling Xbox One and granted, $250 would completely blow it away but being even at $300 will still give them a slight advantage. Of course, without 4K/HDR, Sony probably would be better off making the slim $250. Less than two weeks to go until we all find out. No matter what, I want Neo sooner rather than later.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I have my launch OG, and no stick peeling at all. So it is all relative. And I just read a comment on the link I just posted from the Dualshocker post where a person said his UC4 controller lasts much longer. I see these comments on GAF, and I see them on PSN forums as well.
It lasts almost twice as long as the OG one. Lower draw refined components could have a lot to do with it (and are not exclusive to just be in the console box itself) if the battery size is the same.
What I said has nothing to do with Xbox and their slim.
It is how Sony's business model has always been with a slim. Smaller form factor, cost cutting, cheaper for the mainstream. There is no need to add 4K to it (adding to the cost), since they will have a 4K option. 1080p sets are considered 'entry level' now by Sony as well as other big makers, thus the PS4 Slim follows suit.
Colin from Kinda Funny is banking hard on $249 for the Slim. Now that would be something. $249 PS4, $399 Neo/4K... they would see insane market growth in that ecosystem.
The 1TB console has also always been the option for Europe for quite some time, long before the slim. But hopefully it makes it's way here like the options they had with the PS3 slim revisions (for those who want that). I would still would rather put a speedier 7500rpm drive in at the same cost to me, but everyone has different wants/needs.
I think you are lucky then not having the stick peeling thing. I got a ps4 day one and my sticks have had the peeling for a long time. I got one another ps4 controller blue. I don't remember how long ago I got it but I have not had the peeling stick thing on that and I don't notice any difference with the controller out side of that. I didn't know about the 1 TB hard drive thing in Europe. Well I understand what you are saying about ps4 slim. I am just saying that I think most people where shocked when they found out xboxone slim was going to have any kind of 4k and I am kind of surprised that Sony would let Microsoft have that advantage. If the NEO ends up not coming out in till next year that would give Microsoft even more time to have the 4k advantage. Now if the 250 slim and 350 Slim thing is true that would be nuts and would be great for Sony and really bad for Microsoft.
Weather wise, I love the summer and hate the winter. I watch NFL but that's pretty much it. NBA and MLB died a long time ago to me. Haven't played sports in over 15 years. Wii U still costing $300 almost four years later is insane. The console should be at least half price by now but Nintendo hates losing money on hardware. For me, Super Mario 3D World and DKC TF are the two main games and of course, Zelda next year. Price hurt Wii U but it being another gimmick hurt it, no third party support, etc. It's just so inferior to Microsoft and Sony that it's just sad. Oh well.
Drive Club is said to be an excellent racing game. Infamous is good but I couldn't get into it. I'll respectfully disagree about Batman: AK. It was a disappointment to me. Solid 8/10 but Asylum and City blow it away. Yeah, you can start with TR but if you only want to play one of them, I would just go straight to ROTTR.
I don't care about 4K at all and there's already 8K TV's so I figure what's really the point when it will be obsolete sooner rather than later.

Sports are my number 1 hobby with video games being second. Yeah it is crazy that Wii u still cost what it cost. Heck ps4 slim may be cheaper when it comes out then wii u is right now and ps4 is so much stronger. Drive club is a great game and I normally don't play racing games but it has some of the best graphics of any games this gen and so many tracks and the weather is great to. The game is really hard and can be frustration but is still a lot of fun. Yes I know a lot of people where disappointed in AK but I don't think the batmobile was used as much as people act like even thought it should have been used less and the game with DLC has more challenge maps then any of the other Arkham games. It also has the best story in the franchise and because of challenge maps and races it has more things to do in the game. My biggest problem is that the game has almost no boss fights in the game. Asylum while great to is almost hard to even play after AK, AC and Origins because of how much more limited the combat is and because of how much smaller the game is.
Saying that 4k is going to be obsolete and pointless later on because of 8k is silly because tech is always changing so that would be like saying all tech is obsolete because it is going to change going forward any way. At some point though the human eye is not going to be able to tell the difference though so maybe that will be 8k. Maybe any thing after 8k will be when you cant even tell the difference then it will be pointless. Well games all have to be on the hard drive now to play them no matter if they are digital or not and like I said I like to go back and play old games from time to time. To me I don't know how people can trade in games or systems. That is something I really hate about this gen is that ever game has to be put onto the hard drive now. It takes up way more space now because of that.Comment

SpoilerThe Batmobile was OVERUSED in my opinion. No boss battles. Total and complete waste of all the villains. Horrible ending and cheap way out. "This is how the Batman died". Then, to get the real ending, you have to find all those riddler trophies and then you fight him. UGH. So horrible. Way too many tank battles. The best thing about the Batmobile was some of the innovation like pulling up the roof of a building to use as a ramp early in the game. But after a while, the innovation became meaningless because it was just too much. The entire game revolved around the Batmobile and that was a horrible decision in my opinion. The side quests were average at best and just like every other open world game. Seven or eight different types with ten or whatever amount of each. Story was a disappointment to me. I'm not even a Batman fan at all and yet, I was still disappointed. Good game but nowhere near the others. Asylum was great because it didn't have any filler. Just a straight forward story with a good combat system. Batman AK and MGSV were my two disappointments of 2015 because both were padded with crappy filler that everyone complains about in Ubisoft games but yet, those two get a pass which makes no sense to me. I must admit that im happy the Batman Arkham games are done, at least from Rocksteady anyway because it's obvious that outside of the PSVR game, they need to move on to something else.
Tech wise, everything becomes obsolete. It's not a question of if but when it happens. I don't have any interest in either 4K or 8K so it doesn't matter to me but the resolution is by far my least of problems with games.
I agree that hardware should always be kept but for me, its like once I move on, the old stuff has to go. Don't get me wrong, I get the urge to play PS3/Xbox 360 but not to the point where I have to go out and buy it again. I bought an Xbox One and PS4 so I can play games for these consoles, not play games from the past. It's also why im not a fan of backwards compatibility. Everyone wants it but no one uses it. If you want to play games from past generations, go buy those consoles and there you go. That's how I look at it.
As for selling games, I sometimes get the urge to play Mad Max again (better than that other game that came out on the same day in my opinion) as well as AC IV: Black Flag but I always choose not to simply because I don't want to play through a game that I already played and completed because obviously, I know everything that happens in the game. Now, if they ever go on sale digitally for $10 or less, then how can I pass on that?
Other than that, I realize that going game to game is bad for me because I tend to get into a bad habit of not finishing any of the games that im currently playing. Going game by game one at a time makes it a lot easier to finish them and move on to the next game. Also, I trade in games and put that credit towards my next game.
After last gen, I started thinking like every publisher in the industry but in the opposite way. Every publisher wants every gamer to spend as much money as possible for as little as possible. I'm the opposite. I want to spend as little money as possible for as much as possible.
That's definitely one of my main reasons why I stopped collecting games. Then of course, add in DLC, season passes, micro-transactions and all of this other bull crap and it's like, nope, buy, play, complete, trade in and move on. Outside of The Witcher III and Bloodborne, every DLC, season and expansion pass is a total and complete joke.
Here's an example. I played and completed The Division solo in about 120 hours 100%. For me, easily a 9/10. The gameplay, cover system, shooting mechanics and gunplay are just all top notch. I thought about buying the season pass but it's literally a joke. None of it is worth the money. And the last DLC for the season pass was just delayed to early 2017 which is another reason why I hate all of that stuff.....I don't want to wait months or a year to get all that extra stuff especially if im enjoying the game.
Division came out March 8th. Outside of the week it took me to play and finish Quantum Break on Xbox One, I basically had two months to play the game before Uncharted 4 came out. Now, if that Underground expansion came out in March or April, the chances of me buying that season pass would have increased because while playing the game, I simply wanted more and more of it but sadly, once I finished the game, there was nothing left for me. And im not an online multi-player gamer nor am I spending $50 (soon to be $60) on PS+ just to do so.
AC IV: Black Flag for PS3 was only one of two games that I ever purchased a season / expansion pass for. The other being The Witcher III. Excluding The Witcher III which quite simply and quite honestly, craps on every single DLC, season pass and expansion pass this gen AND last gen. Only one that comes close is Bloodborne's The Old Hunters DLC.
Add in the waiting of that content and it's just one more reason why I stopped collecting games. Only game's season pass that I have any interest in is Mafia III because im hyped for it and hoping that it will be my 2016 game of the year. Also, the season pass is only $20 which is fine by me but only if there's solid enough content.
Basically, for me personally, there's just no reason to keep games anymore and worse case scenario, if I really want to replay a game bad enough, I'll just buy it a second time.Comment

For those of you that have PS Vue....
What are your thoughts on it? I'm thinking of getting rid of my cable and getting Vue...only thing stopping is me is that I can't get MLB Network (which is a main channel of mine) and NBATV/NFLN.
SpoilerYou'd think that a company would allow consumers to pick what channels they want to pay for...I'd pay for like 10-15 channels at $30/month if I can pick any channel I want - I win and I would think the company would get a decent profit being they get more $$ per channel (sort of speak) than "normal".
A couple of my concerns is if there is constant buffering (I use TWC and have a 200/mbps speed) and what type of limitations surround cloud DVR service.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

PS Vue added the NFL network today. I like it. The PS4 app is really nice. With your internet speed you shouldn't have a problem and the DVR saves shows for 28 days.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks

The only thing that was making me sad was the lack of Redzone with the coming season and, what do you know, Sony solved that problem too with a steal of a deal.
I tell everyone I can to consider switching, the service is that good IMO. At least, if you're in a large city where the packages are better.Comment
