Anyone pick up their slim yet? Curious how it is and any feedback on the updated controller.

Got home about an hour ago. First thing I did out of the box is swap out the HD for my 1TB SSD. Was quick and painless. For those that watched that leaked console unboxing the chick in that video kind of pulls the hard drive cover sleeve off, you don't have to do that, you can just slide it on and off (what is how it is designed to be used) very easily.

The HD "case" that you screw the HD onto and insert into the PS4 appears to have been "flipped" for the Slim. Like, upside down, if that makes sense. Which means that SSD's won't fit in naturally. I wish I had a good camera so I could upload a video or pics of what I am talking about. It isn't that big of a deal, but you have to kind of set up the SSD so it is like a centimeter or two off the bottom so you can screw it into the case securely. So basically the SSD ends up being secured by the four screws and is suspended onto the case without actually touching the bottom, if that makes sense.

I like the grey finish of the buttons and the d-pad on the new controller, nice contrast to the black controller.

4.00 update is awesome by the way. After I installed the system firmware onto the new HD I played around with settings a little bit (got everything back to normal) and was impressed with the updated OS. Love the quick menu.

I have the system in rest mode now downloading about 4 games I want to get back into playing regularly.

Are there any real cons to putting the controller into "USB mode" for communication? Will the input lag be noticeably different either way (bluetooth vs USB)

Reunited and it feels so goooooood

      edit

The slim came with a different brand HD than my OG came with. This one was a toshiba. I tried to look it up to see if its full specs (I assume it is the standard 5400 RPM drive as before, but I just like checking that stuff) and couldn't find anything

Does the new controller feel any different than the original?

The current ones always feel like they're coming apart at the handle to me, so I'm hoping the new ones feel more sturdy there.

The "Honeymoon/THIS IS AWESOME/New Console Smell" aspect might prevent me from offering an objective opinion on this.

The honest answer from me, right now, is I haven't actually gamed yet, just messed around on the menus. The sticks seem to be exactly the same so I popped some controlfreaks on them right away. Honestly I can't really say there is any noticeable difference, sturdiness wise.

Also, the "new light bar" appears to just be a sliver that they made translucent on the touch pad. Like I don't think its actually a light bar, I think it just is a "window" to the regular lightbar source behind the touch pad. I could be wrong about this.

There's an issue with 4.0. There's no way to manage dlc like you could before. Also no way to get exclusive dlc back that doesn't go on sale. You have to use the ps store online and go through your history to redownload. Hopefully fixed soon.

Random question, I always have deep color output set to automatic. There is no harm either way with that setting, right

Getting a PS4 Slim as I type this. Traded in Xbox One + additional controller plus OG PS4. Gonna cost me about 44 bucks out of pocket when said and done.

Curious, I don't want this to come off the wrong way, but what about the Slim made you want it that badly?

I don't know, but that sounds like a terrible deal. Two systems plus three controllers and $44 for a somewhat smaller system that plays the same games but has better wifi?

The way I have my setup doesn't allow me to go wired. I have good internet speeds, so getting 5g internet is huge for me and I can already tell the difference in download speeds. I rarely used my Xbox One since I got my PS4 for obvious reasons and will not lose sleep over giving it up.

It was a well 44 bucks spent for me. Thanks for the opinions.
