This really works to speed up downloads on the ps4! I'm getting NBA 2K17 now and the default setup it said my DL would take 8 hours... I changed to the Google DNS servers and it changed to 43 minutes...

This despite the fact my old default speed was reported by my PS4 as 48m and now says 7m lol...

For those of you who aren’t sure how to make these DNS changes manually, here are the steps you have to take in order to do so for both the PlayStation 4 (PlayStation 3 is identical) and the PlayStation Vita:

PLAYSTATION 4
1. Press the PlayStation Button

2. Select the Settings menu

3. Select Network

4. Select Set Up Internet Connection

5. Select either Wifi or LAN Cable, whichever is your preferred setup

6. Select Custom

7. Select Manual

8. Now, depending on your set up, and whether or not you have a firm grasp of handling a CUSTOM set-up as opposed to the EASY option, you may want to select the default choice for each option leading up to the DNS Settings tab (Those being IP Address, Subnet Mask. Default Gateway, etc). Once you get to the DNS Settings, enter in the Primary and Secondary DNS server address of one of the two DNS Servers below (do not mix-and-match).

Google's DNS Address - Primary: 8.8.8.8 Secondary: 8.8.4.4

OpenDNS Address - Primary: 208.67.222.222 Secondary: 208.67.220.220

9. Once you've entered your preferred DNS Server, proceed through to the end of the set-up process and confirm the changes by running the suggested Internet Connection Test. Then try downloading something that was taking a long time to download prior to the changes to see if there's any difference.

What normally would've taken anywhere from 7-8 hours to complete, now downloads in less than 10 minutes.

And if you want potentially faster speeds, download "namebench" program on your computer and run it. It will tell you the fastest DNS servers for your connection and will probably work better than google and openDNS numbers!

Are you guys finding 1TB adequate or do you think you'll eventually up it to 2TB?

I am still with my 500 GB hard drive that came with the ps4 back when I got it in 2013 but I am down to around 26 GB now so I know I am going to need a bigger hard drive soon. Considering I only have like 11 games and am already down to 26 GB out of 500 I think 1 TB is not enough and 1.5 would maybe be enough and 2 TB is really what is needed. Considering I don't get rid of old games or any thing and have TLG to get in December, Horizon in feb and Spider-Man when it comes out and after having gotten Tomb Raider 2013 I am going to have to get Rise of the Tomb raider at some point to because I am loving Tomb Raider 2013 after having not played any Tomb Raider's out side of a little of the ps1 one. So that is already 4 more games I know of and I am sure there are going to be more at some point in time to. I may get the batman Arkham remasters when they get cheaper if they get good scores. Considering we are only about 3 years into this gen and are likely still around 3 years from ps5 I am sure there are other games we don't know about yet that I may want to get. With a 1 TB hard drive you may only be able to around 25 games on the system and really that is not that many. On ps3 I think I have like 35 games on the system. So yeah 2 TB then I should be good forever. I don't want to spend money on a 1TB to only have to upgrade to a bigger one later and end up spending more money but not just getting a 2 TB hard drive from the start and also have to go threw the process of redownloading and installing ever thing again more times then I need to.

There's an issue with 4.0. There's no way to manage dlc like you could before. Also no way to get exclusive dlc back that doesn't go on sale. You have to use the ps store online and go through your history to redownload. Hopefully fixed soon.

Worked for me, at least with MLBTS 1.08 update. Turned on my console this afternoon, and I got a notification that it was installed at 5-something this morning. NBA2K17 Prelude 1.01 and Madden 1.XX (may have been during beta) come to mind too. It worked during the Beta too, for numerous games.

Speaking of the Beta, my console even installed the official 4.0 without me having to go and manually uninstall it. It can be debated whether that is good or bad tho, lol.

Damn I wonder why mine changed. Yesterday my PS4 started updating madden when I turned it on and today it did MLB the show. I'll try restarting my console and hopefully that helps.

Wifi being faster is definitely a plus. Does it have better range too? The regular PS4 is terrible with wifi.
