    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

I feel like the USB cord would simply pull out from the port rather than knock the console off the shelf. Either way if you've got a lot of commotion around you while you're gaming I don't think it will matter if the controller is wired or not seeing as how much a distraction all that traffic would be.

****, we survived up through the PS2/Xbox generations with wired controllers. I don't see why it would be such a big deal other than simply being different.

I feel as though I'm the only person not getting the PS4 Pro.

I plug my Elite into my Xbox with the wire all the time because it's like 10 feet and I can just post up in bed without having to worry about the battery life, you're going to get the USB ripped out of the console or controller way before that thing comes off the dresser if someone trips over it.

Yeah you would think, but in practice....

And while we did survive, if we can do better why not

I am going to buy it because I prefer triple cheeseburgers to double, it has more oomph and I plan to buy VR.

I really don't want to get the plain black though, I'd like a special edition.

That is like saying you see no different from using the internet on a flip phone from 10 years ago to a smart phone touch screen today.

It is about ease of use and unless you play in a pc desk in a corner many gamers that are on consoles are on a couch in a living room setting and having a cord threaded to the console from your sitting position is not only a huge eye soar it is annoying as at times the cord if long enough can tangle with the back triggers.

Wireless is so convenient and it is not easy to go back to how old school days were just to justify getting a 3rd party branded controller because Sony does not want to make their own wirelessly.

The great thing about the Pro is it does give people options. So I'm all for it. However I also am a bit wary as I don't want consoles to become like PC gaming where you are constantly feeling a need to upgrade. I would hope that it doesn't go that route or they will lose a lot of peoples interest.

agreed, try going back to standard definition TV after using HDTV for a few years and see how that works out for you...it's awful

But these two comparisons aren't even close to being equivalent. We're talking about a controller with a cord. There's nothing functionally different outside of it having a cord. Both of those are extreme examples of things being so functionally different that it's not even close to being the same thing.

I originally preordered the Pro but cancelled my Amazon order. I will wait to see how much better games look and most importantly, how The Show looks on the Pro.

I like my toys but this, at the moment for me, is not a high priority.

As for people complaining about the idea of a mid gen refresh...I don't get it. You're going to be playing the same games regardless of which system you own. I'm very excited that this is becoming a thing as I had a 1080p tv really early into the 360/PS3 generation of consoles, yet very few games ran natively in 1080p. It was all upscaled. I would have absolutely dropped the money to run games last gen in 1080p natively if given the option.

I will definitely get a PS4 Pro and an Xbox Scorpio. Just a matter of when, not if. Really excited to see where this goes from here. Would either dare release another refresh instead of a full fledged new gen of consoles? Or are console generations a thing of the past in general, like has been hinted at by guys like Phil Spencer?

What? Unless we're comparing a wired NES controller to a wireless DS4 I don't see how this comparison applies.

Being wired is not a technological step back. In fact, most e-sport and fight-pad controllers are wired because they offer a better response time compared to wireless.

It is about ease of use and unless you play in a pc desk in a corner many gamers that are on consoles are on a couch in a living room setting and having a cord threaded to the console from your sitting position is not only a huge eye soar it is annoying as at times the cord if long enough can tangle with the back triggers.
I agree its a convenience and cleaner looking with the biggest obstacle being cord length. Still, there have been plenty of times where I've been reclining in my chair playing while my DS3 is being charged via a USB cable. I'm not sure why the cable would get in the way of the triggers, though.

Wireless is so convenient and it is not easy to go back to how old school days were just to justify getting a 3rd party branded controller because Sony does not want to make their own wirelessly.
I'm not saying we need to pull a LOST and "go back," but its really not a big deal to have a controller be wired. As discussed already there are plenty of wireless options available.

And I've already devoted too much time to this, but I don't see the "big deal" about a wired controller. Even in 2016.

its not about tech specs...Is about the ease of use and convenience.

you can browse the website on a flip phone just like you can on a smart phone...but the ease of a smart phone is much easier and better for customers

a wired controller works the same way as wireless and might offer better latency but at the expense of ease of use...Having cords tethered to the console in a living room is not ease of use

Would you want to have have a cord strap to your tv remote to change channels or volumes? It would work the same way but would that be appealing to you?
