I know alot of it is on devs but if sony and MS want to go after the PC they can't be producing sub 1080p 30fps games.

Really odd and surprising that this is happing and I don't get why. I wonder with this and with people talking about how the stronger CPU is not used with a game that dose not get a patch could Sony maybe add a upgrade for the pro to make it so that the extra CPU power is used on all games?

Yeah. As much as I love smooth visuals in the games I have played on my 1080p PS4 Pro that offer frame rate or enhanced resolution I have gone with the frame rate option after testing them both out. ROTTR feels so great with the uncapped frame rate.

I think it is an issue that will be addressed. It's a brand new system and a brand new approach to console gaming, issues were gonna pop up. The hiccups should be ironed out IMO. I am sure there are software issues causing this along with hardware issues. This is a side of the PC world coming over to consoles that people wont like. Compatibilty optimizations/ I think it will get irond out eventually

The CPU is stronger but honestly I didn't realize how weak overall these Jaguar CPU cores are. They are really holding the PS4 and One back. I hope the Scorpio uses a better CPU

If you look at reviews around the internet for the show for example none of them really talk about the game having frame rate issues at all yet you see people complain about it. Where if you look at a game like the remasters of batman return to Arkham ever review talks about how it has frame rate issues ever one. If a game runs at 30 fps with out dropping it fells smooth. Its when it drops below 30 that you have problems and more complaining like with return to Arkham the game is said to go from 30 down to like 20-25 a lot and when frame rate drops below 30 it starts to look kind of slow motion and when frame rate chances a lot like then it starts to look herky jerky.
This is the biggest thing for me. It's not that I can't enjoy a 30 FPS Locked game - that's not the case at all. What gets to me is when a normally-running 60 FPS game hits frame dips and drops down to 30.

Fortunately with my PC games I have some degree of control over that - I can lock the framerate to 30 on my system itself if it can't achieve a solid 60 FPS. XCOM 2 and Civilization 6 are two games I absolutely don't mind doing this on, because they're strategy games and don't require me to make split-second reaction based decisions. For a 2D fighting game, First Person Shooter or, as mentioned, a racing game...things are a little different.

I can't do any of that on console - I'm subject to whatever optimization testing the devs have done before release, and I have to live with it.

Make sure your video settings on YouTube are either at 1080p/60 or 720p/60. Anything under that such as 480p or 360p are automatically run at 30 FPS.

If you get the correct settings, the difference between the two is night and day.

Just did that and they look the same to me night and day difference no way. The difference between a game running at 60 or 30 is like the difference between someone running 16 MPH and some one else running 16.1 MPH so small its hard to tell and is almost nothing.

Yeah, it's a bummer for us 2015 Vizio M Series owners.

I was going to run out this evening and purchase a 55" with HDR included, but I think I'm going to wait until probably next fall (around the Scorpio launch). I'd rather have a bigger and more affordable(65") tv in the basement for games and movies. In the meantime, I'll stay with my Vizio which by all accounts is awesome and the Pro shines with this tv.

I have always wondered if people who grew up mostly "PC gaming" are more sensitive to these kind of things than others. I remember benchmarking the first Jedi Knight game (amazing game, remember those games? They were AWESOME) on my old 3Dfx Voodoo card, or Voodoo2, whatever it was back then.

Frame rate, resolution, to me eyes it's huge aspects of enjoying a game.

I set it on 720 and honestly still didn't see a difference. I don't know maybe there is some other setting that I'm supposed to change to notice the difference. I just clicked on the little gear looking icon and changed it to 720p as that was the highest quality available.

                        Oh well....no biggie.

I'm sure they are, but I've never been a PC gamer and I'm super sensitive to it for sure. I can tell when a game is running at 60fps or 30fps or god forbid lower. People can knock COD all day if they choose to, I'm not a fan of any of them since Advanced Warfare myself but used to be a huge fan of the series. One of the things that is immediately apparent is the smooth silky gameplay. People that don't even know why it is that way talk and"how smooth COD is".

It's not by accident, the devs make it a central focus and it's paid off handsomely for them over the last decade or so.

While resolution is another reason why it would be good for me to upgrade to a 4k tv even if I don't have the pro because right now I have a 720p upscale 1080p tv from 2007. So even if I got a 4k tv and didn't have a pro I would still get a upgrade in graphics going from a 720p upscale tv to having a tv that can do full 1080p and then I would be a little more ready for ps5 when the time comes. So because I have a 720 upscale 1080p tv right now I am already not getting 100% out of the normal ps4. Also I want a bigger Tv then I have fight now 37 inch would like to get a bigger like 50-55 inch tv keeping a eye on the Samsung ks8000 tv right now and its price.

                              @CB and Smallville:

If you have the 60 FPS quality option in youtube, it'll look like this:

If those top two aren't showing up, make sure your browser is updated or just use Chrome - I know it works in there.

To others - apologies for taking this so far off track. But since improved frame rate is one of the Pro's selling points, I think it's important that everyone understands.
