So I take back my early impressions of the Pro being quiet. NBA 2K17 disc while in HDR was loud and the fan was working hard. I might need to put it in a better place for ventilation.

Yea I was going to suggest better ventilation. I keep mine outside the AV cabinet so it can get the best ventilation and I barely ever hear mine.

Was it the first time you played it?

Before switching to digital, the first time I played RotTR I could hear the disc spinning/fans as though it was still installing, even though the game was supposedly fully installed. Part way through playing, the disc stopped spinning and it got much quieter.

With the digital version now, if I mute my system, I can hear the fans a bit playing RotTR on 4K, but it's not bad. And so far, I don't hear it at all for any other games.

I can only speak for my experience with the Pro, which has been flawless to this point, but almost every launch I can think of in recent memory has had similar, isolated incidents as that video. Who knows, maybe the Pro will have mass failures, I just do not think that is the case currently.

As much as I don't want to move it I might need to. It was running pretty hot and when I put my hand in the console area it was blowing a good amount of warm/hot air.

My Pro runs very quiet. Only time I hear anything is the beginning when the console is verifying the disc to be legitimate. After the disc check, quiet as a mouse. Console gets warm but nothing for me to be concerned about. This includes a few straight eight hour or so gaming sessions.

Pro is a bigger disappointment in terms of the games performance. It's just sad that the majority of games are running better on the base PS4 than the Pro.

Mine had been really quiet up until this week. Playing XCOM 2 and at times it runs really loud, but only for about 10-15 seconds, then it quiets back down.

So a couple pages back I mentioned how my replacement PS4 has been going strong for a long time. Well I spoke too soon apparently because it's no longer reading discs.

Anyone have any tips to fix this or am I screwed?

Yes I did but I don't want to get a pro will just wait for ps5 to be able to play 4k and HDR. I did order a 4k Blu-ray player though. The slim with being 250 and with the $25 off thing best buy was doing today it came out to like $240 after tax and I should be getting around 140-170 for the trade in. So really I am only paying 70-100 to get a newer system and a game not bad when you consider games cost 60 by them self's. Pro on the other hand after tax even with the 25 thing cost like 402 after tax. So then I would have had to pay 250-260ish to get a pro even after the trade in and that is with out even getting a game out of it. A few weeks back the pro was 340 for like a day and I kind of thought about it. If I could have paid 340 and with the 25 thing if they had it back then and with the trade in value then I could have got a pro for like 170-200 but that would have been best. Now if I could have gotten the pro for that much but with a 4k player in it then I would have most likely done that.

For a $100 you screwed up IMO...if I just bought a 4k TV I'd be buying the Pro for sure, not a regular PS4, to see those graphics and lighting....

Up until last night you could have bought a Pro for $320 plus tax at Meijers with the 20% deal. For another $80 or so and of course if $$ wasn't a issue.

Yea he just recently bought arguably the best HDR gaming TV right now and sells his OG and buys a slim. That's beyond a head scratcher lol. No way in hell I'd get a slim over a pro if I had that 4k HDR tv especially with how good some of the pro games look.
