But yes, definitely a different market there in Japan that will inflate a couple of previous generations' numbers globally.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You mean xbox and gamecub and I understand that but I am just wondering if any systems can ever out sale ps2. The fact that ps4 most likely will sale 100+ and be the 3erd Sony system to sale 100+ is pretty darn impressive to though. Wii sold like 104 and I see ps4 at least passing that has wii could have gotten to like 120-130 but it fell off really fast and considering ps4 is not a gimmick system like wii was I don't see its sales falling off really fast like wii did.Comment

Yes, I meant Gamecube. Thank you.
Gosh, I was really off my game on my post.

PS4 has strong legs, and I think that the Pro units can be counted as well. They did well this generation, despite some things that really irk us. It just wasn't as impressive of a generation as PS2 or PS3 was, though. Like I said... diminished returns. I personally think the generation started a couple of years too early. If they started in maybe 2014 and came in with 4K fully in mind, it would have been an incredible leap.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

I doubt it. Now that console generations kind of float around in a different way and PC gaming is so upper-echelon for another community, I just don't see that happening again. We are nearing a point of diminished returns. Don't worry, we're not really there yet... but there are only so many things they can actually do now outside of improved visuals that will wow us by title types alone. We'll see where things go from here.

lol its all good about the gamecube thing. While I think this gen has not been that great so far but I think it is starting to pick up has TLG was amazing and we have Horizon next month and Spider-Man maybe this year. While console gaming is far from being dead heck last gen was the only gen where 3 systems sold 80m or more but I do understand there is more competition then there was back when ps2 came out. While the funny thing with 4k and all is that I have heard some people say that ps4 pro is what ps4 should have been back in 2013 but how many people even knew what 4k was in 2013 and how much would a pro type of system cost in 2013? Heck up in till 2014 I had never heard 4k before and up in till like late 2014 maybe early 2015 I had not seen a store that even had 4k TV's yet. But I don't know if this gen really should have started 2 years later or not. Just about ever gen has been 5-6 years and last gen was already 7 for Sony and 8 for Microsoft and that is already like 2 years longer then your normal gen and a lot of developers complained that last gen was to long to begin with. If last gen had went the normal 5-6 years we would have had new systems back in 2011 instead of 2013 and that would mean if you then go with another 5-6 years after that we would be getting new systems in 2016 or this year. In some ways we are has pro came out and Scorpio this year but they are not like full gen upgrades.Comment

Odogg, you don't have to do a direct transfer to keep all your settings. When I upgraded my hard drive awhile ago the standard PS4 backup system worked great. I backed up my settings and game save data to an external hard drive and it automatically included all my kids profiles and settings too. Very simple and quick and when I installed my new hard drive all my settings and game saves came over. It was just like my old PS4.
The one negative is that I didn't save all of the actual games files which were simply too large. I just reinstalled and downloaded them which did take awhile but I actually cleaned up things too. But if people are just concerned over settings and game saves use the standard backup feature. Don't worry about linking two systems as many are trading in one of them to get the other.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Pulled apart launch PS4 and cleaned the old thermal paste and applied new paste. Can't believe how much quieter the unit is running—most notably with games like The Show that used to cause the fans to go into hair dryer mode.
The original thermal paste was all dried out and barely on the processor. Looked like it was applied in a really haphazard way.Comment

Honestly I don't know why more folks don't just do it the Sony official way. Sure it can take hours to do, heck mine took 15, but just set it up and let it run over night. We as a society always want everything now but nothing will hurt to wait till you get up the next day, least not in my view..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I just watched a couple youtube videos to make sure all the same details were covered, and then kept one up while I did it. Overall took about 45 mins.
If you do it, just make sure you have all the tools you need before hand, and keep the different screws separate and organize them by location somehow. Going through the video to make sure I had all the screws correct was the most time-consuming part. Only had one screw left over.
Other than that, just taking your time is all that's needed. It's not all that complicated if you just follow the instructions.
It was actually shocking how crappily applied the thermal paste was. Most of it was just clumped in the recesses between edge of the processor and the motherboard.Last edited by bad_philanthropy; 01-05-2017, 03:07 PM.Comment
