    Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Does anyone (Maybe Scott since you work at Best Buy) tell me an actual HDR10 4K tv that would be $999 or under. I would love to stay around $600-700 range but just curious if this is possible?

What I am wanting is a 49"-55" - I cannot go any bigger due to location but for that price range, I wouldn't expect to even get bigger.

This would be for my PS4 Pro.

    Thanks guys.

Hisense H8C 55" for $449-$549 is HDR10 and has gotten great ratings both at rtings.com and here on OS in the tv thread. No it's not as good as a Samsung KS8000 or such but for the price it's an extraordinary value and especially good for gaming as it has very low input lag.

The Hisense H8C is a budget 4k TV, with good picture quality that is uncommon for the price. It has little motion blur and supports a wide range of inputs. Unlik...

$549 at Best Buy and it's been on sale recently for $499 (check out the ratings there, they are very good as well, currently 4.6 out of 5)

Im going to suggest a tv for you that even rtings liked and does decent hdr

          hisense

          this 65' model

from what ive scoured over the internet of this TV.

Its a very solid play "starters"

would ONLY imagine that the 50 and smaller models are even better as the genral rule is the larger the screen the more better quality rendering you need.

          Rtings.com rated the 55 model i think...

Oh heck yeah! About time eh?

And also, I'd avoid the 50" Hisense, it uses a different panel provider than the 55" does. I think it discusses something about that in the rtings.com review.

The only sport I watch is the NFL. Didn't have any problems with blur at all. However, I did have to adjust my settings including decreasing sharpness and/or contrast. Honestly, I forgot which because outside of football, I barely if ever watch TV. Playing DVD's via my Samsung DVD player was also good. These two aspects are minimal for me but when I did watch football or play a DVD, outside of adjusting my settings, I had no problems whatsoever.

The Hisense H8C doesn't support a wide color gamut which is necessary to truly get the most out of HDR along with being 10 bit. Video Games is an 8.2 but HDR Gaming is only a 7.4. Granted, it may look better when actually playing but if you're going to spend any money on a 4KHDRTV, make sure that it has HDR, 10 bit and supports WCG. Otherwise, not much point.

A suggestion would be to go to Best Buy if possible and just check out the displays and try to get a better idea of what fits you.

That's because it's $500 compared to over $1,000 for all that. I wouldn't say there is no point in buying that.

They do have the 49" Sony with all that for my price range but I really want a 55".

I don't think there is enough interest in the game for a dedicated thread, but I just wanted to say that if anyone finds themselves with some extra trade in value or just wants to try something new, Nier: Automata came out today and it's a really fantastic varied action game (provides multiple types of action, transitions between different styles as you play) with some RPG elements as well.

Last time I checked it was sitting at a 90 on Metacritic.

I know it is super busy right now with huge AAA titles recently released, and more coming in the next few weeks, but just saying it's a great PS4 game, also has some nice image quality boosts if you have a Pro.

Not saying I think you all should just run and buy it immediately, just give it a look if you haven't yet. I think the demo is still available on PSN?

They do have the 49" Sony with all that for my price range but I really want a 55".
But the $500 wouldn't be giving you the full affect of HDR so in turn, it could be just a waste of money.

All the 4KTV's I checked, it came down to two - the Samsung KS8000 which I heavily favored because in the HD era, I have only owned Samsung TV's. A 23" 1080P Samsung monitor. A 32" 720P Samsung TV. A 32" Samsung 1080P TV and a 40" Samsung 1080P TV.

The other is the one I purchased - the Sony X800D. The reasons why I chose this one were -

                            1. The Connect One box that comes with the Samsung KS8000 and higher models. Maybe all the models have this. Not sure as I only researched the KS8000 and KS9000. I simply don't like the idea of the box because while rare, it can break or burn out. To replace it with a brand new costs $200. Not going to happen. I also don't like the idea of all the ports not being on the TV. Basically, it's convenient for me and if I turn out to be one of the unlucky ones, I may have to spend an additional $200 down the line. Simply, don't like it. The one positive about this is that Samsung may upgrade them in the future so instead of buying a new TV, you just buy a new box. Don't know if this will happen or not but if I had to guess, I would say probably not because the entire goal is to sell the new lineup of TV's every year, not a box. Remains to be seen though.

                            2. The stand. I believe that it's two chrome legs that can be adjusted but looking at pictures of it, I just don't like it. It looks like it can topple over at any time. And im sure that it doesn't but for me, I was like meh. Like above, just don't like it.

                            3. The price. Basically double the X800D including a new TV stand that I would have had to buy as the smallest screen size is 49". This also was a factor due to the stand. The Sony X800D has a solid frame in the middle of the TV which I love and fits perfectly on my TV stand. Simply didn't want to spend double on my first ever 4K HDR TV.

                            4. HDR is in it's infancy. Reading up on HDR, there's eventually going to be some new aspect of it called meta data or some crap like that which enhances the colors and makes them look even more realistic and better. None of the current TV's support this as far as I know simply because it doesn't exist yet but it will in time.

                            5. The Samsung KS8000 is Edge lit. Same as the Sony X800D. Reading up on it, seems like full array is the best of the bunch in this regard but also costs more money.

                            6. The Samsung KS8000 has 1000nits where as the Sony X800D has 350nits and yeah, that's just short of triple the amount but Sony has always had good display panels and some say that the panels they use are actually from Samsung. LOL. Forza Horizon 3 wowed me and Horizon Zero Dawn has impressed me even more to where I can say that PS4 Pro was worth the investment thus far and it's only three months in. I can safely assume that the KS8000 picture quality is even better but for me personally, not double the price better especially when I'll most likely upgrade come PS5/Xbox 4.

                            7. While they all may be good, I have never owned nor care to own an LG, Vizio, etc. TV. have pretty much always been a Samsung guy with Sony here and there along with a Toshiba and Panasonic thrown in back in the day. Also, looking at the comparisons on rtings.com, those other brands simply don't justify the cost unless you go all out for an OLED which considering the price is just borderline insane even if you're a millionaire.

Obviously, it's up to you. I see the Samsung KS8000/KS9000 as being 1A/1B with the Sony X800D being second best based on price, value, reputation, my confidence in them and of course, the specs of the TV itself. I didn't want to spend almost my entire tax refund on just a TV so I opted for the cheaper TV, a PS4 Pro and an Xbox One Slim.

The picture is beautiful plain and simple. I have no complaints whatsoever in regards to gaming on the X800D.

If you're going to spend up to $1000 and don't have any plans or intentions on upgrading for at least five years or so, I personally would suggest adding another $300 and just buy the 55" Samsung KS8000. To me, the Hisense (and yes, I know that they purchased the Sharp model TVs) model is just thanks but no thanks. Of course, this is just my own personal opinion.

The TV had to have HDR (not all 4K TV's do), 10 bit gradient and wide color gamut as I care more about HDR than 4K resolution. After that, it was about response time and input lag. The peak brightness was a concern but for my needs which is pretty much just gaming, the X800D has an 8.1 HDR gaming rating while the KS8000 has an 8.5 HDR gaming rating. Gaming in general is the same at an 8.4 rating.

The difference was minimal so I went with the second best option in my opinion. For you, it all depends on what your situation is, how much you're looking to spend and what brand/specs are right for you.

Not saying I think you all should just run and buy it immediately, just give it a look if you haven't yet. I think the demo is still available on PSN?
Enjoyed the demo but with Horizon, Wildlands and a backlog, I decided to pass on buying. However, GameFly shipped it out to me yesterday. Second month in a row where I have an empty slot and only one game in my Q and had it shipped out to me. Next month will be Yooka Laylee. See if it works three months in a row.

Doesn't TV talk have it's own thread in the Entertainment subforum?
