I haven't upgraded still playing my 360 and PS3. I thought Uncharted 4 would make me bite but I didn't. At this point since my favorite sports game PES is still being made for the PS3 I have no great desire to get the PS4. Still don't have a 4K TV either. AT this point do you think it just makes more sense to wait for the next gen?

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yeah it is a awhile away.
PS1 came out 1995(94 in Japan), PS2 came out March 2000, PS3 came out November 2006, November 2013. So that is about an average of 6-7 years between release.
But I don't see honestly a rush to come out with the PS5/next gen. It is not like last couple gens where towards the end, the potential was maxed out where not much they could do. But I feel like there is a lot more they can do with current systems.
So I think we are still at least 4-7 years away. We usually start hearing info a few years out. Plus with Pro(and Xbox 1 X) pretty much updated with current technology(4k). There is no rush until really technology expands much more.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I think that PlayStation 5 hits Fall 2019 or Fall 2020 at the latest. Seven years after PS4 launched. The PS4 Pro is basically a stopgap until PS5. Same with Scorpio. Only difference is that Microsoft wants to keep their consoles interconnected which I personally think is a mistake where as Sony will bring out a new console and if I had to guess, it won't be nor should it be backwards compatible with PS4.
Backwards Compatibility if anything is highly overrated. When you look at gaming history, backwards compatibility didn't exist until PlayStation 2 and no one ever complained about their SNES not playing NES games or Dreamcast not playing Sega CD games.
When everything advances, the last thing you want to do is hold back your own product by old, outdated and obsolete hardware. It simply doesn't work.
PS4 Pro/Scorpio were basically rushed in order to get ahead of 4K craze which won't even hit it's peak for at least another two years or so.
I also believe that PS5 is 2019/2020 simply because the majority of first party exclusives that have just released or will be released within the next two or three years will be the end of their exclusives as one these exclusives all release, the first party studios will move on and start working on PlayStation 5 games as Sony doesn't want to have the huge gap that they had in the first two years of PlayStation 4.
If there's no games that GreenLightning wants to buy and play now on PS4, better off waiting until PS5 or when PS4 is near the end of it's life cycle in order to buy one mad cheap and get a bunch of cheap but awesome games all at the same time.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Ok ,I'm sitting here with $450.00 cash in my pocket and after spending a couple hours doing web research on the PS4 Pro my head is spinning. Yesterday I sold some Drum gear I wasn't using just so I could go get a Pro but after reading several different opinions I'm confused. So the question is to Pro or not to Pro.
All the articles I read had a lot to say about HDR, well my TV is a 4K Ultra but does not support HDR, so I'm thinking will the Pro even look or perform any better then my current PS4? Will the $400.00 price tag be worth it for me.
My Daughter recently bought a Pro and she only has a 1080p TV and she loves it. Says the games run smoother and look better.
So what do Pro owners think? Is it worth it? Game stop opens in 2 hours.....Comment

Been through this before. PS3 is HD and I have seen the machine up and running at my son's place. Not the graphical leap like the 2 to the 3. Games have gotten prettier and easier as time goes by.Comment

Sony is smart not to offer BC. Adds to the cost of the hardware and if you want to play your older games just keep the older consoles. I know some people have space problems in their entertainment units so keeping a number of consoles hooked up is impractical but for me it doesn't matter. I have a few areas for panels to be hooked up.Comment

The pro looks/runs better than reg on my 4k non hdr. Frame rates with The Show were worth it for me lol.Joshua:

It's definitely worth it, I own both consoles and the pro is all I play these days. I love it. I dont think I'm getting and X either or maybe not so soon cause the Pro is just what I like and will continue too cause of the games
