That's fine but what works for you necessary isn't going to work for me or someone else in general. Yeah, I have had internet starting with Dreamcast of all things and then NetZero and for the last several years, Optimum Online for my laptop. I just don't have the need or desire to be online 24/7. If anything, I think people are too obsessed with it all but that's just me.

Times do change but you're not required to change with them if what's being changed doesn't suit you or meet your needs or requirements. Majority just follow everyone else and go with the flow as opposed to doing what they truly want to do. I'm not a leader but im definitely, absolutely and positively not a follower. I simply do everything my way because in the end, it's for me and my satisfaction, not anyone else's. And im sure that you and everyone else do exactly the same thing so why would you change just because someone else is doing something different than you?

I have never had a problem with this. I don't need every update the second it gets released and more times than not, if im going to update a game or the console, I'll actually wait a few days because there's always some bugs and glitches that need to be ironed out and I prefer to let others test it out for me. Plus, if it's for a game that im near done with, I won't even bother updating the game because there's no reason for me to do so.

To plug/unplug the Ethernet cable takes me two minutes max and with the fast internet connection I have, I rarely ever have to wait more than 30 minutes or so and even if it's longer, I usually run errands or do other stuff that I need to get done anyway. Basically, I kill two birds with one stone.

It's never been an inconvenience for me and I have been this way since Xbox 360/PlayStation 3. I'm not going to change what has worked for me but like Gamer and I have said a million times, to each their own.

But you could run errands without coming home to download stuff first. You would still be killing two birds with one stone, just in a more efficient way that doesn't rely on you remembering everything you have to do in a specific order.

I mean, I get that you're not an online gamer. That's fine. I know a few people that don't have their systems connected for various reasons (mostly technical), but man, unplugging your modem before you leave the house because of "reasons"? Do you have a smart phone? Do you just use cellular data all the time?

I've been at OS for a long time and this is, by far, the most utterly ridiculous debate I've ever seen. And I love it. It's just so LOL.

Daniel, are you afraid gremlins are going to sneak through the ethernet line and infiltrate your home? Are you wearing a tin foil hat right now if you go outside?

When I run errands, it's always on a day when im off from work or on the way home after work. If it's after work (like tomorrow since im too lazy to do it today on my day off), I don't bother with gaming majority of the time. I'll go online, watch Netflix and just relax.

If it's on a day im off and I know im going to be downloading a few things, I set it up, purchase what I want and start downloading. I turn off my TV and I go do what I have to do. More times than not, the downloads are finished several minutes before I get back and settle in.

I technically don't unplug my modem as it like my laptop is connected to a surge protector. When im finished for example, like when im going to sleep, I shutdown my laptop and just turn off the surge protector which turns off both at the same time.

I just don't see the point or the purpose for me leaving all my electronics on just because everyone else is doing the same thing? What is the PS4 going to download at 3am in the freaking morning? Nothing so why would I leave stuff powered on and connected when im sleeping? Sorry but that just makes no sense to me.

Cell phone wise, I have a Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime. Cost me $80 new from Best Buy about a year ago. $25 a month, unlimited calling and texting. No internet for one simple reason - I never need it or use it. To me, I think that people are too obsessed and dependent on all of this stuff. I'm clearly not. Hell, the only reason why I have a cell phone instead of a house phone is because it's actually $20 cheaper a month and I get unlimited texting and can make long distance calls without any extra charges plus outside of the $2 fee, no taxes or other bullcrap charges. Monetary wise, a cell phone makes more sense than a house phone for me plus the extra bonus of unlimited texting comes in handy.

But here's the funny part, when I run errands, I don't even take my cell phone with me the majority of the time simply because I don't need it and just want to get what I have to get done as quickly as humanly possible as patience is not a strong suit of mine at all. Plus, when I did take it with me and I would text, it would take me twice as long due to texting. Simply not worth it.

Majority of people have a reliance on being connected 24/7 and if those people lose that, they would probably go nuts or die or some crap. Not me. I would be perfectly fine simply because majority of it all isn't a necessity. It's a luxury and one that I can afford to have but one that isn't necessary. I know people that if they lost their cell phone for a day, they would be completely lost and dumbfounded. That's completely freaking hilarious to me but of course, in fairness, im old school, plain and simple. I'll use this stuff when I need to or when it benefits me but otherwise, trust me, im good.

Actually, the PS4 downloads it's daily patches around 4-5AM every day, so you would turn it on and have all the patches/updates already downloaded and installed.

I am finding tons of irony here with the connected 24/7 comments but always posting on OS.

It only seems like it now because I had a tooth pulled last Thursday and with the antibiotic and painkiller I have been taking, just not in the mood to play games. I have been online though from when I wake up until I go to sleep but mostly on Netflix just wasting time. If it wasn't for that, I would have been playing PS4 these last five days but oh well, no biggie.

Daily patches? Seriously? No thanks. I don't need to download daily patches just for stability and performance. LOL. Once a month if that is good enough for me. LOL.
