Anything will be better than Sony's show last year. A big spectacle with nothing too interesting. I like Nintendo's route of having their own controlled "Direct" where they can show you new games.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
SpoilerI'm 100% all in with Days Gone which will be the best open world zombie game of all time and pretty easily I might add. I'm expecting an 85+ MC/OC score and 10M+ lifetime sales. Game is going to be great. Personally, im expecting an easy 9.0/10 or higher. Super hyped. Visually, looks great. Gameplay and animations have improved with each trailer. The story and characters is going to be damn good as is the case with almost every Sony exclusive and im looking forward to the as of now, unannounced DLC. Days Gone has been my number one most anticipated title since it's reveal at E3 2016. Been wanting an amazing open world zombie game with a huge focus on story, narrative and characters for a long time. Plus, it has a Sons of Anarchy feel to it and has Mad Max type survival elements with the motorcycle and whatnot.
Ghost of Tsushima is another highly anticipated title on my future log games list. I just completed Nioh a few days ago because I wanted to play a samurai type hack and slash game since im not expecting Ghost of Tsushima for at least another year. Game looked great at last year's E3 and just thinking that the game would be two years away from that gameplay reveal has me so hyped simply because it already looked and played great and will only be better when it releases.
The Last of Us Part 2 is also 100% for me but unlike Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima, it's not as high on my list because it's a sequel and I know what to expect from it. Will still be an excellent game though. Death Stranding is 50/50 as like most, my thought process is - WTF is it??? LMAO. The rest of the games are of no interest to me but MediEvil looks pretty good for a remake of an old PSone game and Dreams is going to simply amaze a lot of people just because of what can be created in the game. It's insane to be honest.
It's been a stacked early 2019 and the first half of 2019 is looking a lot better for me personally than my previous best first half of 2017. In 2017, I had RE 7 (8.0/10), Yakuza Zero (8.5/10), Nioh (which I just beat a few days ago, 8.5/10), For Honor (8.5/10), Horizon Zero Dawn (9.5/10 and my 2017 goty), Nier Automata (8.5/10), Ghost Recon Wildlands (9.0/10), Injustice 2 (7.5/10) and Nex Machina (8.5/10).
Thus far for 2019, I had NSMBUD (8.0/10) for Switch and REmake2 (9.0/10). However, im expecting at least a 9.0/10 for Far Cry New Dawn, Metro Exodus, Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2, Sekiro, Days Gone and Rage 2. If this actually happens, it will surpass 2017 for me with the lone exception being I don't know if any of these games will be my goty where as in 2017, only AC Origins came close to surpassing Horizon for me but it came up a half point short.
Backlog wise, once I finish Detroit, I only have RDR 2 which is my summer game because well, the summer is always dead at least until mid-August. Once I finish RDR 2, I'll only have 5 games left in my last gen backlog which im also hoping to clear out by year's end.
It's an amazing time to be a gamer. So many games that im looking forward to. It's insane. LOL.
SpoilerTo be perfectly honest, Sony's E3 2018 showcase was a 9.0/10 for me personally. Yeah, the presentation and setup sucked as did the intermission but once that ended, the quality of the exclusives and the games shown simply made the negatives non-existent for me.
For me, I judge the Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo showcases based on three things - 1) first party exclusives that im interested in, appeal to me and that im buying 100%, 2) console exclusives from third parties that im buying 100% and 3) multi-platform games that get shown that im going to buy 100%. The main difference is that #3 applies to both major consoles so the impact of it doesn't mean much to me. It's the first two that I care about the most.
For Sony, I had three exclusives which are/were 100% buys - Spider Man, Ghost of Tsushima and TLOUP2. One exclusive which is 50/50 - Death Stranding. One third party console exclusive which is 50/50 in Nioh 2 and two multi-platform games which were REmake2 and Control and are/were 100% buys.
Also, the intermission while crappy was actually a positive for me as it showed Destiny 2 content and COD: BO4. Two games I could care less about so getting them the hell out of the way early on was great especially when after the intermission, they showed Ghost of Tsushima.
So presentation wise, it sucked but I don't watch every showcase for the presentation which if I did, EA would probably win every year but I watch the showcases for the games, not all the other garbage of which is no interest to me simply because it's not where my money and time is going to.
In fairness, Microsoft's showcase was also a 9.0/10 and by far, their best this gen and in a long *** time overall. They showed 50 games but 20 were in a short Indie montage which I freaking hate because they never show each game long enough to see what the hell it actually is and you still have to research it after the show on youtube. 17 of the remaining 30 games were multi-platform with 8 of them being of interest to me. 9 if you count Nier Automata.
The other remaining 13 games were exclusives or DLC content for their exclusives like SOT and Cuphead. Out of those 13, the only guarantee for me was Gears 5. Gears Tactics would be a guarantee but hasn't been confirmed for Xbox One yet. SMH. Halo Infinite is 50/50 as is Tunic. So while the quantity was definitely there and the multi-platform quality was there, the exclusive quality was lacking for me personally. They did surpass Nintendo though which to be fair, isn't really hard to do since I really only care about their 2D plat-formers.
Overall though, last year's E3 was superb for me overall. For Microsoft, it's all about next gen for me and them. Spencer has only been "the man" since the end of 2017 or as I put it, January 1st, 2018. So he's only been fully in charge for just over a year in my eyes. He has a ways to go and he should get there but it takes time. Their outlook is definitely positive and optimistic. My only concern is that due to Game Pass, Spencer will go more in a quantity direction to fill it as opposed to a quality direction. Obviously, have to wait and see but I know what their plan and direction is and for me personally, it's not all that appealing.
Still though, the Xbox brand is in a far better place now and going into next gen since probably 2010 or 2011. I have confidence in Spencer but it's just that their plan and direction isn't really for me personally even though I hope he proves me wrong as I always own every console in every generation and the more games (especially exclusives) I get, the better.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
E3 2019 will be the 25th E3, and it will be the first time in the convention’s history that Sony will not appear at the show. The very first E3 was held in May 1995; Sony made a splash during the event by announcing the U.S. launch date and price for the original PlayStation.
Next year, the company will not hold its traditional Monday evening press briefing, nor will it have a booth on the show floor at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Asked if Sony will move its E3 presence offsite, like Electronic Arts has done in the past three years with EA Play, a PlayStation representative said no — it’s passing up the opportunity entirely.
“We will not be programming around E3,” the spokesperson told Polygon.

Smallville, let's say they did release PS5 this fall. Would a game like TLOU2 in your eyes still be a PS4-only release (perhaps to be remade later for PS5), or do you think that development would have long since shifted over to a PS5 release with a PS4 port on top of it (or not at all)?Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

They're not doing anything around E3.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Yes I have already seen that dont really mean any thing though. Sony could still do like there own show/meeting like any other month this year and there is also PlayStation experience 2019 un less they skip it again this year and with some of Sony's comments that they made about e3 I could see Sony maybe kind of going to the more Nintendo direct style of updates. I am not saying they are going to do like a direct style for ps5 but most likely Sony will either do some kind of meeting at some point this year or like a direct style even if the direct style is just to show a few new ps4 games or something. To really think Sony is going to go a year + with no like events/meeting is just nuts.
Ideally you'd just have a ps5 patch similar to pro patches now and a unified PlayStation branding.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
You're arguing points you're just inventing as you type. Nobody said they weren't having any events this year.
Remains to be seen I guess. No stated plans for forward compatibility, for all we know a ps5 version could be a different sku but still able to play the PS4 version via BC.

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
I am not just making stuff up my point is that with Sony not doing e3 this year they are doing things kind of differently and we dont really known when they are going to do like events and they could always do like there own event to show off ps5. BC some people think it will be able to play all PlayStation system games that is ps1-ps4 I think people are hoping for to much when it comes to that but it might be able to play ps4 games and if it can than maybe something like say TLOU2 will be like 1080p on ps4, 1440p on pro and 4k on ps5 or something.
What would really be huge is if PlayStation 5 played PlayStation 4 games the same as when PlayStation 2 played PlayStation 1 games. Just insert the disc and you're good to play. This would impress me. Begging/paying/hoping for third party publishers to allow their game to be backwards compatible, not so much.
For me personally, none of this is going to alter my decision to buy PlayStation 5 at launch. The only thing that would alter my decision would be if the launch lineup doesn't include at least one exclusive that I want to play and/or if the PlayStation 5 is underpowered and retails for $400. If this happens, I'll stick with PlayStation 4 until PlayStation 5 Pro gets released. Of course, I don't believe this will happen. I'm fully expecting a $500 current and up to date home console for PlayStation 5.
As for TLOUP2 (and in general), I would expect all the exclusives to be available day one via disc or digital download and then just download a patch that increases the resolution, graphic/visual effects and frame rate.
As for events in 2019, im sticking with my prediction once it was known that there was no PSX in 2018 and no E3 in 2019 which is, TGS show only. No Gamescom or Paris Games Week. No PSX either simply because if they have a PlayStation 5 reveal in February 2020, I don't believe they would have a PSX event in 2019 especially when Sony could just combine the two with the PS5 reveal event.
Of course, this is just my own personal guess/prediction. E3 is very expensive as is all the other shows and with the remaining PS4 releases being known, better off saving all that money and putting towards PlayStation 5, PSN and PS5 exclusives which they've already started doing.
As for now, im a few days out from Far Cry New Dawn and Metro Exodus followed by DMC 5, The Division 2 and Sekiro in March followed by DAYS GONE in April and Rage 2 in May so im definitely not in a rush for next gen to arrive.Comment

I'm fully expecting PlayStation 5 to be backwards compatible with PlayStation 4 games but here's what would really impress me. Forget the setup of what Xbox One has in which the third party publishers have to give permission for their game to go on the list of backwards compatibility.

Yeah I am not sure if I would get ps5 on launch day or not being BC might not be a make or break for it but would push me more towards getting it. Launch games are very important and I think Sony is set up nicely to where I think Horizon zero dawn 2 will be a launch game and that would be enough for me and yes I want it to be 500 not 400 so it can be a little bit more powerful and future prof. I am kind of hoping it is 500 and even sold at a little bit of a lose say 550-600 to make so that way it can be even more future prof. Consoles cant just stay like 400 forever when like ever thing else is going up in price. I kind of wonder if ps5 games will go up to 70 considering from like ps3 to ps4 gen games stayed at 60 where from like ps2 to ps3 games went from 50 to 60 and I think from like ps1 to ps2 games went from like 40 to 50.
Well I am not sure if they would only do TGS has TGS seems to be getting more and more small eatch year and I dont think they are going to skip PlayStation experience two years in a row and think we could get ps5 info at PlayStation experience but we will see. I still have a lot of games in my backlog but I think I will always have a backlog of games though but I am ready for next gen bring on 4k and spiderman sequel and Horizon 2! Also with some of the games left for ps4 like TLOU2, ghost of tsushima, death stranding and Sony not doing e3 and those games not having release dates its going to be interesting to see how Sony gives us release dates and new info and trailers and such if they only do like TGS.Comment

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
So when is the PS5 coming out?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion
Why is everyone so excited about a new console anyways?
Spending hundreds of dollars for marginal improvements seems to be everyone's thing now when we should be expecting more from what we have. I have a ridiculous backlog of PS4 games I may never even get to and I feel like the console still has a lot of life left.
I haven't even been reading most of the posts because it's serious TLDR content.
