 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

But Apple is not their handset nor is Windows desktops/laptops/tablets. Am I missing something?

The only thing you're missing is we're fortunate streaming wasn't tied to Sony's failed / sold off PC business. The restriction on Android is their decision to remain exclusive on their hardware. Google's ecosystem isn't like Apple's walled garden.Comment

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Lol..... I'm still going to go with the idea that Sony will allow change too in regards of cross play and other remotely connected devices as they move towards next generation. We both know, that would be the smart move.

There are many reports of showing how to connect your DS4 controller which can be used for either iOS or Android or any device that allows remote play in detailing certain steps.Comment

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Yeah, that's not a new process unfortunately.

When you don't need to create secondary PS accounts just for controller support and they allow the app to be installed on non-Sony Android hardware I'll start to believe they're changing their stripes about this stuff. It's pretty low hanging fruit (they've been streaming to the paltform for almost half a decade). There's nothing special about the handsets, it just says Sony on it.

As I've said before, we know little about Sony's strategy as we've watch everyone else execute theirs.Comment

Download the app from the App Store. You can’t use a controller though so it kind of kills the feature for me personally. The overlay buttons don’t really cut it for console games.Comment

Nah. You have to be connected to the same network as the console. It’s a cool feature but because you can’t do what you’re asking here and you can’t use a controller I’ll never use it. If I could play games on my iPad and use a dual shock then they would be onto something.Comment

I thought as long as you had a wifi connection to your phone and your PS4 was connected to the internet (either wifi or LAN) then you could play it on your phone from anywhere, as long as theirs wifi. That is how it is set up on the PS Vita and the Sony Xperia phones I believe.Nah. You have to be connected to the same network as the console. Unfortunately you can't as he said. You need to be on the same network. There is however a work around you can use for the DS4 controller though.I thought as long as you had a wifi connection to your phone and your PS4 was connected to the internet (either wifi or LAN) then you could play it on your phone from anywhere, as long as theirs wifi. When I start up the app it appears to search for a PS4 on my network. Maybe you are right though. I tried it last night and it couldnt even find my PS4. I installed the update and everything. It was late though so I may be missing something obvious or it might just take a while to find it.Comment

 Re: PlayStation 4 Discussion

Well that stinks for Apple users. I know with the Vita you can play away from home as long as you have a wifi connection. I believe its the same way with the Sony Xperia phones (part of the reason I am looking at buying one of their new ones). See the link to the Vita guide on how it can be connected through another network. Maybe with the same set up it can be done with the ios devices. https://manuals.playstation.net/docu...ainternet.htmlUnfortunately you can't as he said. You need to be on the same network. There is however a work around you can use for the DS4 controller though.Comment
