I have a question about the whole music and video media player being added to the ps4 with the 2.0 update. Maybe I am dumb and don't keep up on this stuff as much as I used to but how is the ps4 going to know the difference between a flash drive and external hard drive? They both connect via usb, do they send different signals to the system or whatnot? I mean both are made to hold data and as long as the files on the flash drive/5 drive are compatible how will the system know? Is it capped at a space thing as in it won't pick it up if it's over a certain size? I just wonder because I have a 64GB flash drive and a 2TB external hard drive. So how will the ps4 be able to tell the 2 apart?

PS4 doesn't officially support external hdds, so the distinction doesn't matter.

I remember seeing something about a patch out last week but it still needed a ton of improvements before the plus version was released.

PS4 doesn't officially support external hdds, so the distinction doesn't matter.

What Burns is saying, an external HDD is solid state memory while a usb drive is flash. So yes there's a fundamental difference the console can easily recognize.

Yeah it's a disc. If you don't have an X1 then there are two main reasons to get one, the racing games (Forza) and the TV multimedia aspects. Others than those two I'd recommend a second PS4.

And that right there is why (for now) I don't have an X1.
Could care less about the Media stuff and not a big racing fan.

I want to play Halo but I need more games than that to get the system.
Certainly not paying 399.00 even when/if I decide to get one.

Any word on what time 2.0 drops tomorrow? Seems like it would be a bad idea to wait until the weekly store publish. Was thinking it might show up in the early morning hours.

They didn't say, I wouldn't think it would be during the day either, but it wouldn't be the first time Sony did something at a goofy time.

I might just stop using my elgato if the youtube uploading app will be decent. Takes so much time uploading 1080p videos.

Wish they would update the app for iphone 6 users. Resolution isn't quite right, thought it would have been with this latest update.

It won't be 1080p because the PS4 doesn't record in 1080p, it records in 720p. So only thing the Youtube app does is prevent you from transferring the video to a USB flash drive to your PC and upload to Youtube from there. That is the only difference. Still will be the same quality though, 720p.

The way youtube compresses videos there isn't a huge difference between 720p and 1080p anyway. It's not worth the extra time for the upload for me.
