That's funny because it really was. That controller probably helped me beat at least 25 NES games that I would have no shot at without it. Not only the turbo, but the floating D pad really gave more precision in jumps. I just bought an NES clone with 500 games and it has all three Ninja Gaiden games. When I get it I'll have to see how pathetic I am....

Good luck. I had fun but I was getting whooped. So whooped in fact that I wasn't even frustrated. I was laughing.

For the record, My attempt was the exact opposite of this guys! It made me feel 1000 times more pathetic than I already was, and I was already tipping the pathetic scale. Fun though

Mistakes were made man. N64 was truly a great system, even though the joystick on those controllers was about the worst thing imaginable.

I've been very fortunate that my parents never threw out any of my old systems growing up, and then I've continued that trend in my adult life.

Only game console casualties I've had are Sega CD (dead), PS1 (dead), Wii (traded for Wii U). Everything else is still around

That video is absolutely insane. Part of Ninja Gaiden is memorizing the patterns, but this guy just took it to the next level! I know when I play it I will get super frustrated. I haven't played it in 20 years, so I'm sure it will be really baddddd......

That Arcus guy talking through it was quality and entertaining...hard to explain, but it's all so memorized and he's so chill.

Meanwhile, I was crushing beers and dying every 12 seconds on average. Honestly, about 300 deaths in 2 hours.

Funny, I didn't get frustrated, I just laughed.........(and drank Bud Select drafts).

                Re: Retro Console/Game Collecting Thread

I still have some of my old systems (NES, Vic 20, N64, Xbox) but got rid of others (Coleco, Dreamcast). Looking back, I would have kept all of them, but at the time it was a combination of me not playing them and wanting the space (and some $$$) back.

Most of my gaming purchases this year will be spent on retro games and systems. Not much about this generation (X1, PS4, Switch) has held my interest.

Place is amazing! It’s Game Xchange

No red PS3 but picked up a few goodies. Was going to get a silver slim PS2 but it was scratched all to hell

I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a retro video game store. They are constantly running a buy 2 get 1 free sale on all games $7.95 or under.

                        I picked up:

                        Mafia for the PS2
World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars PS2
Resistance series (my copies got lost at some point) PS3
NBA Jam 2 on GameBoy advance
College Hoops 2k8 (gave my copy to my brother never got it back) PS3
                        ESPN NFL 2K5 PS2
                        Black PS2
                        Bottom of the Ninth PS1
                        World Series Baseball Genesis

                        All discs in EXCELLENT condition

Picked up TMNT II The Arcade Game for the NES over the weekend.

Whatever happened to the Beat Em' Up genre of games? This game, Double Dragon, Streets of Rage, etc., were so prevalent in the 80's-90's, and are a ton of fun. Just pick up a controller and get to business. I really miss games you could finish in a single sitting.

It's so refreshing to go back to the older games and just plug-in and play. No having to waiting for games to install or download patches/updates.

The Beat Em' up genre was great.

So many great ones, Golden Axe, River City Ransom, Final Fight, Renegade, just to name a few lol. My favorite was Turtles in Time.
