    Thoughts or opinions need help.

    I have a regular ps4.I have a enhanced hard drive 2 tb ssd's

Want to get a gaming monitor. Trying to keep it under 500$ is it worth the investment for a monitor rather than tv.. secondly is it pointless w/o ps4 pro

I want to upgrade to a 1440p and preferably 144hz, I just don’t know too much about the different panels.

I don’t care about the latest and greatest monitor that is way out of my range. No, I cannot save anymore for a better one. I have 2 young kids so I have no desire to spend more than the above budget and really just need something better than my $120 monitor I use now.

Please don’t tell me how I’ll be miserable with any monitor in this range, I’m sure there are tons of budget options that will far exceed what I have now. I’ve seen some in here bash others for not being able to afford top end monitors.

I would just like a monitor with colors that aren’t washed out.. performance wise - I don’t play much competitive besides BFV. Rest is offline single player.

Any other info that I could provide to help with recommendations, let me know.

Thanks guys, really appreciate any input you can provide.

This monitor is a great 4K monitor that normally sells for $450 but is on sale for $350 at Best Buy and other outlets. I owned it in the past. The HDR isn’t real HDR and doesn’t have a wide color gamut since it’s an 8 bit panel but a great 4K monitor with FreeSync which is beneficial for those with an Xbox one X or S.

The LG 27UK650-W is a very good 27 inch, 4k IPS monitor with a low input lag for gaming and great SDR peak brightness. It has very good color accuracy, wide view...

The Best Buy in upstate New York anyway don't even carry the LG 650 anymore and haven't since last spring. They only carry the LG 600 and that is currently $399 right now today at Best Buy.

        For TheBleedingRed1 here you go:

        Samsung LC27JG50QQNZA Series Curved 27" Gaming Monitor Dark Blue Grey - $309 1440p -144hz

        https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LC27J...AATVPDKIKX0DER

That is about the best you going to get for under $350 at 144hz.

My only issue with this monitor is I wish it had FreeSync. Besides that a good monitor.

I own this monitor and I'm very happy with it still and I bought it last summer. Fake HDR or not, the colors produced are still excellent. I have my PS4 Pro hooked up to it and my games looks great on this monitor. Playing the Show on it is a joy.

I said it was a great monitor lol. It's a great 4k SDR monitor, but I would never get it as an HDR monitor. No wide color gamut and 8bit panel means fake HDR. Yea the colors will still pop, but not true HDR. Colors popping doesn't mean it's good HDR. You can make any tv's color pop by over saturating the colors. Good quality HDR can be jaw dropping. Watch HDR on an OLED or a good quality 1000 nits or higher LED TV then go and try this monitor and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Again, this is a great monitor just waiting for a true 10 bit HDR set with a wide color gamut and I'll jump on that monitor. I also play in the dark a lot so I prefer an VA monitor over an IPS.

I just don’t get why if someone says it looks great to them, people have to say it’s “fake” HDR and diss the set. I don’t know, maybe I’m missing something.

If it looks good to someone, let them be happy with it.

Art, I’m not just referring to anything you posted, you Atleast have an explanation but I always see a couple that just bash others for not being able to get the biggest and baddest stuff.

No, what I was saying was that if this monitor even without HDR or fake still looks beautiful and for me I I'm not missing much. Dude I had my PS4 Pro hooked up to my TCL R617 set which has pretty good HDR and I hooked back up my Monitor 2 days later. I just like it better, and trust me I have seen many of the Best sets out here and plus the ones I already own, I like the picture on my monitor better.

I agree, also IMO, a lot of the crazy expensisve TV's out here are flat out overrated. I uses to be so Into getting the best TV's and what not, I don't care anymore, like you said, Im happy with what I play on and think it looks great.

I'm sorry, I'm not spending $4000 on any TV ever. I'm 40 years old, so trust me I have been in this TV/Gaming phase for a long time to know I myself ain't missing anything, and especially at $4000/$5000 for a TV

Upgrading my Xbox One to an X this week thanks to my tax return. Do you guys suggest I get a 4K TV or a good gaming monitor instead? If the latter, anything ultrawide with good refresh rates and response times thats at least 1440? I'd like to keep my TV or monitor under $600.

UPDATE: I've decided to go with this LG 27" monitor. 4K, HDR, 5ms response time. Max 60hz refresh rate, but its only for my Pro and X so thats fine.

FYI everybody favorite monitor, the LG 600 is currently on sale for $329.99 at Best Buy. I think that is the lowest I ever saw it for on sale. Normally it would drop to $349 or $359. This is $120 off. A new model must about to roll out pretty soon.

This is the best gaming monitor around for pc and consoles

The HDR on this tv is true and better then QLED and OLED for HDR gaming

Fantastic color reproduction and superb contrast with close to 400 dimming zones

                            No blooming and dark blacks

                            Super Bright

10 bit panel in 98hz or lower

It is expensive but gaming is on a whole new level on PS4 and XBOX One and PC

                            Nothing touches this monitor

I just got that a couple months ago. I will say it is AMAZING...The HDR I think is about as good as my OLED tv's and is super bright. 144hz in 4k with gsync works great with my 2080ti...the image quality is great on consoles...but there definitely is a little bit of blooming. Black screens with white text there most definitely is a glow around it. But due to having lighting zones there is no way around that without being OLED.

Well yea because its an LED but OLED cannot touch this monitor for HDR. OLED cannot reach 1000 nits which is the standard for HDR. This monitor is the best way to experience HDR in PS4 PRO and X
