    Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

I'm new to the 4k thing having just purchased my first 4k TV. I'm thinking about upgrading to PS4 Pro but I like gaming on a monitor.

Any recommendations for a 4k monitor that supports HDR without breaking the bank or just go with a standard 4k monitor?

For a 4K HDR monitor, you're gonna spend between $500-$2000

Ok yeah that's what I've been seeing, little more than I'd like to spend. While moving stuff around in the man cave the other day I manged to knock my cheapo 1080p monitor off my desk. Think I'll just get another get another one of those for now.

If you went with a 4K TV with HDR, get this Sony. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sony-43...?skuId=5748210

That monitor is strictly 4K though, it doesn't have HDR.

It does have HDR but not a good HDR and neither does that Sony tv referred to you. It is better to save money and get the LG monitor as the SDR is superior and has below 10ms of input lag and Free Sync for the X

You will not find excellent HDR on tv unless you are willing to spend a lot

Good thing I haven’t seen good hdr because what I’ve seen in my Sony tv and LG monitor have been beautiful. Though they don’t match up to what I see on my 5k iMac, that’s definitely the best picture I’ve seen.

Go to best buy demo room and watch what real hdr is suppose to look like

MY LG 650 Monitor does HDR Just fine for me, anything I throw at it looks great to me. bottom line is, doesn't matter what anyone says, if it looks good to you that' all that matters. Even if my monitor only did 4K , having super low input lag is one thing that matters to me.

nobody is debating the low input lag and being a great 4k sdr set. This is about HDR and if it looks great to you then that is FANTASTIC. It is still not real HDR and reviews of the monitor will tell you that.

Is not fair to tell someone a 350 monitor will give you great hdr that the person would think is what HDR is supposed to be like.

Like I said if it looks good to the person who bought that's all that matters. HDR, fake HDR, or however you perceive it, it still looks great to me. Not everyone out here spending money on OLED's.

It's also not Fair for you to be telling people its not worth buying one because of your personal opinion. I can give mine like everyone in this thread who bought one, if you don't own the monitor your opinion really means nothing.

This is what I own, so its safe to say that LG can list this and lie about

It may not reach the nits peek level as some HDR top of the line TV's but it still HDR.

And if we are sticking to monitors, what monitor does have “ good” hdr? Not many, the only one I can think of is the new Asus 144hz that cost 2 grand.

Double deuce, you’re gonna be more than satisfied with the LG monitors coming from a 1080p trust me and you won’t break the bank. If you have an X even better because it has free sync and the games are smoother. A lot of testimonials here where most of us like the series of monitor.

You once again prove that reading is not what you aim for....I have the monitor and I game on it every day. I also own an OLED TV so I know what HDR is suppose to be.

I never once said or told anyone not to buy the monitor. I bought one and I high recommend it. But I will not highly recommend it if you want HDR. That would be dumb and silly of me knowing full well that is is not real hdr and is not the experience a person who wants HDR should get.

Yes not everyone is buying OLED tv but OLED is not the only one that does HDR, and if 350 is the budget you seek then you should be informed that you are not going to get HDR the way it is meant for 350 dollars.

The way you brag about HDR is like is as dope as it is on real HDR tv sets which is false and making people think they can just get a 350 monitor that rivals real HDR tv sets

I have the LG 600 w/HDR. Personally I can’t tell if it’s real HDR or not but what I can tell you is it provides a beautiful picture and it states that I’m in HDR mode when playing and that’s good enough for me. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a nice HDR monitor at a great price.
