    Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

For those interested in HDR on a monitor the LG 600 650 models which both are the same except the 650 can be raised or lowered

This is what RTINGS who reviews high end tvs and monitors says about the HDR on this monitor

This is a decent monitor for HDR gaming. It has a very low input lag and only a small blur trails the image. Unfortunately, the contrast ratio makes blacks look gray in darker environments where HDR gaming is meant to be played. The refresh rate is only 60Hz and this might disappoint some hardcore gamers, but on the other hand, it supports Freesync to eliminate tearing. Due to the lack of wide color gamut and low peak brightness, HDR gaming experience is not too great.

Yes not everyone is buying OLED tv but OLED is not the only one that does HDR, and if 350 is the budget you seek then you should be informed that you are not going to get HDR the way it is meant for 350 dollars.

The way you brag about HDR is like is as dope as it is on real HDR tv sets which is false and making people think they can just get a 350 monitor that rivals real HDR tv sets
First of all I been around these forums a long TIME my friend and for those who now me, your a PBU and there is a reason why you were once before.

Nobody is bragging about anything in these forums but you. Your all over OS forums acting as if all you own is the best and you mocked me once already for owing a TCL 607 TV and saying I have a crap TV. you boast about everything you own is better, and seem to think you know it all. What are you a child?? Your all over the OS forums throwing around the Xbox one X is the very best any time you can. Your antics around here are getting real old and tiresome. I have been around these forums since 2003 and never have had single problem with one single user in my time here, but you on the other DON'T know when to quite.

Rtings is a great site, but its just like movies, not everybody will agree on what they is said. And that is there opinion like we all have.

        Re: Gaming Monitor discussion

Sorry guys I wasn't looking to cause an argument.

I wouldn't expect a $350 monitor to perform at the same level of $1000-$2000 monitor. I wouldn't even notice the difference though unless they were side by side. I'd never be looking at the high end stuff though, as long as the input lag is low and the picture is decent that's all I care about, I'm not looking for the best of the best. I've had a $150 Dell monitor from Wal-Mart the last 4 or 5 years and it's been flawless until I broke it.

I just got my first 4k tv recently which is an LG so I guess the HDR is fake. 😛 Whether it is or isn't I don't know enough about 4k and HDR to know but I think it looks great. I did a little research on it and it has a decent response time of 11 to 12 MS in game mode which ain't bad for an entry level tv or any tv for that matter. So I'll probably just use it for the time being.

I agree with you on the HDR on this monitor not being great and it’s the first thing I noticed when I tried it out. HDR doesn’t allow any adjustments and owning an OLED and a high end LED tv It doesn’t even come close to the HDR on those sets, and the blacks aren’t that great. It’s the reason why I returned mine, but it’s a great SDR monitor and for the price it’s fantastic. The colors look good and everything is sharp.

It offers free sync which makes games buttery smooth especially for those with the Xbox x. Even though the nits are low it manages to give a good picture. The monitor has some limitations specifically with HDR, but I think for $350 this is a good gaming monitor.

Got my Xbox one x in the other day and just hooked it up to my lg uk850. Wow freesync makes a huge difference. Way better than my tv. Much smoother.

I’ll have to test it out but think it even feels and looks better than my gaming laptop connected with a 1080 gpu in it.

                    Best Buy has a 25" Alienware - 240hz - 1ms response - 1080p w/ G-sync for $220 off retail.

$379 with G-sync AND 240hz is a fantastic price. Anyone in the need for a competitive FPS monitor, this is the one to beat at this price.

You’re right. Glad the Xbox offers this feature. This is one thing I especially miss from this monitor. After experiencing it personally I was able to tell how great of a feature it is.

Picked up an AOC Agon AG271QG 1440p IPS Gsync Monitor for $480. Good lord, it makes my previous monitor look like ****. I never even noticed how washed out the colors were on the TN panel until I had them side by side.

Yeah man, I’m so spoiled. I can’t go any way but IPS and G sync for my pc setup. That’s a great price too.

Oh man, NVIDIA actually supporting adaptive sync. You can enable variable refresh rate on non gsync monitors now. Damn kinda wish I didn't just pay the gsync tax a few months ago. No complaints on the monitor itself however
