Not to mention you need to baby an OLED with gaming with static logos

OLED is going to die in the next couple of years or be insignificant when Micro LED comes out and by the numbers more people buy LED over OLED because of Brightness and Burn in concern

Until you do not see how HDR looks in the ASUS monitor you cannot know what awesome HDR is

So in order for me to see awesome HDR I need that ASUS monitor you have. So my KS8000 does 1000 plus bits of brightness. I know what good HDR is. Again, for me I’ll take the perfect blacks and 800 nits of brightness over 1000 nits of brightness and not perfect blacks with blooming.

As far as why LED sell more is because of the price. That’s the main reason. Of course many are scared of burn in too, but OLEDs just recently went down on price. For ever OLEDs were $4000 or more for a 75 inch. You can get a BS LED for $300 and even less.

Samsung Q9FN at 65 is more expensive than 65 OLED and it sells more than the OLED version

The KS8000 is great in brightness but lacks the contrast levels due to being EDGE LIT but is still a great hdr tv

No issue with your preference being OLED, I have a C8 and I will not game on it because of ABL and that is me, you like it and that is fine

Critical viewing in dark rooms is where you can moan about blooming but HDR is about high contrast, High Peak brightness and color accuracy

OLED has 2 of 3 needed for it to be superb

RTINGS selected Samsung Q9FN as the best HDR gaming set...NOT OLED

The difference is that Asus reaches at minimum 1000 nits and can reach close o 1200 nits in HDR and 50k in contrast.

The LG monitor maxes at 400 for HDR and contrast is about a few notches over 1000 in contrast only which is terrible

8bit + FRC and 10 bit panels get to the same color gradient but in different ways as 10 bit does it natively and 8 bit + FRC does it by quickly flipping the pixels and that to the human eye will look just like 10 bit native

But is the superb brightness and contrast that makes the ASUS stand out

Your TCL 6 series is also 8 bit + FRC and it has awesome HDR

Thanks, I was figuring that it was the nits that was much higher in your monitor. 1200 nits that is pretty amazing.

I have my one X hooked up to my TLC is does look really good, it’s just I play my PlayStation more and it’s on my monitor .

Yea the lg monitor is fantastic more for xbox as it has free sync but the hdr is just not good for enthusiasts who appreciate HDR

You cannot even modify the settings in HDR on that LG monitor

The TCL you bought is a great budget tv and is my recommended hdr gaming tv if you not looking to spend a lot...It is that good for gaming in hdr

Agreed, and yes I wish I can mess with the Settings on The LG Monitor when it's in HDR, but as you said I can't. Still enjoy it for what it is, all that matters in the end for myself. If that monitor you have came down in Price I'd consider, but just a bit too much for my liking.

I just got the Dell S2716DG and life at 1440 144hz around 100-80 FPS has been amazing .....Destiny 2 looks like a whole different game the the Division 2 is amazing as well But the most surprising looking game so far is DMC5 I have all the games for both PS4 pro and PC its just unbelievable the difference. I ended up getting it for 349.99 2 weeks ago they wouldnt macth the amazon special they had going cause it was 3rd party but the matched a Microcenter which I have no idea where one is. I play better pvp on Destiny now its just that good 1400 ,144hz get around 110 FPS with all setting on high or highest. Only game that I dont get over 100FPS on is Anthem on highest settings... My video card is a gtx 1070 ti 8gb

Getting back into PC gaming and want to get a true gaming monitor. I currently have a LG 27 inch 4K monitor that I use my consoles on. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Are you gaming competitively? Personally I like ultra wide gaming for story games because you see more and more immersive. when I play competitively I use my asus 27” 165hz 1440p monitor which is fantastic.

I'm in the same boat Flight,

My current 4K LG (we may even have the same one) is only 60HZ and 5ms response. I only have a 1070ti card in my PC so 4K isn't my target with it, but I want a higher refresh rate so I'm not bottle necking myself. It's still a nice monitor, but I'll have to upgrade eventually either way.

Amazon just ran a nice LG ultragear 144HZ 1080p monitor on sale for Prime Day, but I resisted the urge to buy it. It just seems like 1440p and 144HZ is the sweet spot right now because a lot of the top end monitors can do more than what most PCs can.

I think this is my upgrade when I catch a better sale or a new model comes out:

                    https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-PG279QZ-...gateway&sr=8-2

165HZ, G-Sync, etc. The funny thing about technology is I paid almost $500 for the LG monitor I have now and It's not nearly as nice as what you can buy for the same price now. That's just how it works unfortunately.

No I’m just the average couch potato. I had a buddy build me one about 2 years ago but I felt it wasn’t what I wanted but more of what he liked using my cash lol. Ended up taking everything back and stuck to console.

more pricey than most monitors, but I have had it for about 4 months. I can't say anything bad about it. Best for PC with gsync, but gives good HDR and 4k with the X.

                        https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you don't have an nVidia card I believe there is a similar one with freesync.

Won't the next gen of consoles (PS5 & Xbox) be able to take advantage of g sync or free sync or whatever in the monitors?

Both will have freesync. Xbox one currently has freesync but it doesnt matter at all since 99% of games are locked to 30 or 60 fps anyways. I doubt that will change too much in the next gen.

I recently picked up the Dell Alienware 1900R AW3418DW, a 34.1" ultrawide 1440p 100Hz (120Hz w/ overclocking) monitor. It's pretty good. Never really been a fan of LCD technology though so it's tough to go back. Doesn't have the greatest blacks or contrast ratio, but it will serve a lot of my needs for my PS4 and for PC usage when I build one in a couple weeks. No 4K or HDR, but I'm good with that.
