The setting I’m using is called HDR Effect and the lighting just pops.

Just a update. I fiddled around with the setting more today and I found a setting called HDR Vivid and all I can say is WOW. Tries The Show and Madden 18 and I’m blown away. I guess the HDR EFFECT mode is for when a game does not have HDR.
The monitor is definitely worth its weight and gold.

Only difference I can tell is between the vivid and effect. HDR Effect look like the saturation level was increased pretty high. Out of all of them, I personally like the look of the HDR cinema. But I am sure they all look different in person compared to a phone camera.Comment

Hdr effect is only available for non hdr content, so that's likely why it looks a little saturated.
For hdr content, there is vivid, standard, game, and cinema. Personally I thought standard had the best colors, but the response time isnt set to "fast" like it is for the other three and you can notice a bit of input lag.Comment

I’ll be going back in today for a price adjustment. $100 off is a helluva deal for this monitor. It’s $130 cheaper than last years model and this one has HDR.

So, the LG monitor you guys are discussing above is 4k, can it run at 2k? I'd be using it on PC and can't push 4k graphics yet. Can I drop the resolution down to 1440p without screwing the picture up?
Edit: just realized this is 60hz
So I came to this thread to ask a question. I bought a 27" HP Omen 1440p 144hz G-sync monitor a few weeks ago. So far so good, but the colors are "meh" at best. Add in the fact that I need to load my color preset EVERY time I sit down is kind of annoying, and still only looks slightly better than "meh", color-wise.
Now I'm wondering if I give up the refresh rate for for an IPS panel. I don't really play competitively but I do play my fair share of FPS games. At 1440p I'm only hitting 100 fps anyway, not close to 144. But then there's G-sync... ugh these decisions kill me, and I thought I'd had it figured out.
I'm on PC, and got a good deal on the Omen ($350) and I like it. I'm just wondering if I'm missing out on a better picture on other games where I don't need the super fast refresh rate..
