    Re: Microsoft E3 2016 Discussion Thread (Press - 6/13)

MS just talked about bigger topics, if they can execute what they're trying to do their ecosystem will be a hell of a thing. Being able to play my library a decade from now on the newest console, potentially never hitting reset for a 'generation' and all that sort of thing is bigger than any game announcement or trailer.

Essentially the same way I bring my 550+ game Steam library with me from PC to PC.

Like seriously, if the Windows app thing works, and they make PC and Xbox similar, they'll have everyone buying their games (where the money's made anyways) and can still offer great hardware as well.

I wonder if it's possible for PC only games to work on Xbox One as this goes on? Wouldn't it just be native?

Yes Playstation came out with lots of really cool looking games but who knows when most of them will come out and I doubt I'll play most of them anyway. I'm glad Microsoft talked about the future and had other quality of life news/features in there, I didn't want it to just be games.

Just my opinion though. I'm really excited for the future and the options we'll have on Xbox.
I'm the opposite, I thought the Playstation (Sony) showing was much stronger as far as games but I was more excited about the Scorpio info more than anything else.

It does make me wait now in high anticipation to see what Neo is going offer. I guess by the Holiday season of this year we'll know more specifics into the two future consoles, but if Scorpio delivers what it's promising it's going to be tough to beat.

So in roughly a year and a half we'll be potentially buying these consoles, so exciting.

Exactly. I sold my Xbox One due to this yesterday. I have mainly went PC over the last year anyway and I had only bought like 2 games for my Xbox One since it was purchased, so I just figure I will use my new PC rig for any of their exclusives going forward and not have to pay for Live as well. Im glad they gave us a choice going either way and hope they continue this approach going forward.

That option is similar to their other efforts, Phil Spencer confirmed they aren't making a VR device of their own (they have Hololens, which so far is not tied to Xbox at all) and the VR capabilities of Scorpio will be up to the developers to define.

So we could see a number of headsets working on that console. Exciting stuff as a Vive owner, but I'm not expecting things like what we have coming to PC (ie Fallout 4 - the entire game, coming to VR) being available on consoles anytime soon. Even the PSVR stuff is all very limited, 1-2 missions in Battlefront, a 1 hour Batman story, etc.

Yeah I hear you, it's a great time to be a gamer with all these options and very powerful machines coming in the near future.

The games Sony showed are really not my type of games but man they did look really awesome.

              Very exciting indeed!

Current XBOX ONE is reduced to $279.99 now and the Elite Bundle is cut $100 from $449.99 to $349.99

That price on the Elite bundle is a problem...how the hell am I supposed to not buy it when they've basically made the Xbox $200?

I'd rather have the new S coming out and just grab an Elite Controller, I understand the price difference but that's me.

I'm really intrigued by microsofts display . But I don't own a 4ktv yet. I don't care for VR. And I don't even think my connection supports 4K streaming and downloading .

I just wanna see if the 4K gaming is the real deal.

I've already got the current one so I'd be trading in, mostly for the controller to use with my PC (I like the way it feels). But the S doesn't have any benefits to me personally (don't care about size, already have a Kinect, don't have a 4K TV, etc.). It's awesome just that there's so many options though, a system for everyone.

                          I give both conferences a 9/10.

Microsoft concentrated on uniting Xbox One and PC gamers via their exclusives, the Xbox One slim, Project Scorpio and games that are closer to being released which is also why a few games such as Crackdown were a no-show.

Sony concentrated on just games and their upcoming VR peripheral. I definitely preferred the exclusives shown during Sony's conference a lot more compared to Microsoft's but who knows when they're going to eventually get released.

I enjoyed both conferences for different reasons and think that both are doing excellent but have different plans future wise. It will be interesting to see if Sony delays Neo a year to match Scorpio.

Sony going to take a huge lose if they did that because devs already have kits and the console is done. Scorpio has been 2 years in the making from what Phil said. Having sony back out and wait a year to improve specs means they must scrap their dev kits that already are out in the wild and it will cost them.

This is the main reason Phil was confident when he said it will be the most powerful console ever made.

I think the Neo Specs are more then fine and will do great in sales and games will look amamzing

That's not true, moving specs forward (adding more cores, bumping up the clock speeds) won't render anything made on slower hardware incompatible. They will need to eventually replace those dev kits, but that's not exactly a big deal and something they will have to do anyway. Part of the rumors were that the specs weren't final and they were waffling between higher cost and more power or cheaper and slower. Until they actually start tooling to manufacture, and start buying/ordering parts, nothing is set in stone.

I honestly don't see the need for Sony to react to anything in regards to Scorpio. At the end of the day, their the dominate market leader and can release an upgraded PS4 that will show visible improvements 8-12 months before Scorpio hits the market. That's a very big deal.
