Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Install sizes are the same. I bought The Witcher 3 digitally and it's the same as when I owned it a year ago on disc.
And yeah, I am a disc loving GCU member. It's all the fools who go digital and then have to spend extra money on a bigger hard drive (internal, external, whatever, doesn't matter which) and spend extra money on games that more times than not turn into a waste of money since those games are probably never completed or barely even played.
I have The Witcher 3 and TLOUR digitally (couldn't pass on those cheap sales especially for two of my all time best games) and I still have plenty of hard drive space. Plus, I have AC Unity which is about 60GB with the patches and DLC.
I own nine PSN/Indie games and they stay installed. Everything included, I still have over 200GB of free space on PS4. Even if I end up having Gears of War 4, Ryse, Ori and ReCore all installed from off the disc, im sure that I'll still have over 200GB of free space.
Disc FTW!!! LOL.

I never said install sizes are different. I said install speed. On disc it downloads much much faster over store. This is specially true on PS4Install sizes are the same. I bought The Witcher 3 digitally and it's the same as when I owned it a year ago on disc.

If I had a collection of discs, I would not be that bothered by space as I can always download an old game within a few minutes over spending an hour on digital.Comment

Sorry. I misread that. You're right, installs are faster off the disc but at the same time, im really hoping the Slim is faster than the current Xbox One that I own because it still takes about 20-30 minutes to install a game off the disc and no, im not connected to the internet because I learned with Ryse that trying to install a game off the disc and being online at the same time is beyond slow and horrible.I never said install sizes are different. True. Being able to delete games and reinstall them off the disc is obviously easier and quicker than digitally. One negative remains though, once you delete a game, it also deletes the patches and DLC. So like AC Unity installs very fast off the disc on PS4 but jeez, downloading the 8GB patch and the DLC that I own for it still takes time.
Again, im just hoping that the Slim installs games faster off the disc. And another reason why I'll always choose disc over digital is because im not a collector anymore. Once the game is finished 100%, it's traded in. With digital, I obviously can't do that.
Either way, will be trading in my Xbox One either later this week or next week towards the 500GB Slim. The Slim and Deus Ex on the 23rd. Can't complain.

Are you getting a Neo now as well Daniel? You crushed Sony for several posts for releasing a higher spec'd product this early into the console cycle, but now you seem all about MS doing the same.Comment

I thought his criticism was releasing the Neo only to have it outclassed in a year, but I really only read the first paragraph and skim the rest [emoji14]

The slim is not a promotion to the vanilla XB as it will perform the same way except you got a slimmer console and no power brick.
The Slim is more for those who want 4K media

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
PS4 is my primary multi-platform console and for the exclusives, indies and psn games. Xbox One is just for exclusives that I want to play. I'm going to wait for Digital Foundry to do their comparisons and review of Neo before I make a final decision on it but as of right now, it's 5% chance that I buy it. All depends on those videos and if the upgraded specs make it worth buying. If it's a minor bump like the Xbox One Slim is for some games (Project Cars being the best example) then I definitely won't give Neo a second thought in regards to passing on it.
The Xbox One Slim is different for various reasons. First, Microsoft is getting killed and unlike Sony, they need to try to rejuvenate their brand and ecosystem. Second, the power supply is internal which I love. Third, the console itself looks sweet (even though I prefer it to be black instead of white). Fourth, the controller has a better grip to it. Fifth, after I trade in the base Xbox One that I have for $150 and sell the two Halo games, the Slim will only cost me $100 or so. Sixth, the Slim will have a better trade in value for it once Scorpio releases so if I did want to buy a Scorpio, I know that it will cost me less overall compared to keeping the base Xbox One and skipping the Slim. Seventh, if I don't buy a Scorpio but do sell the Slim eventually, I know that I'll get back the $100 that I'll be spending on it now. And eighth, investment wise, it just makes sense to swap out the base for the Slim as long term, im not losing anything.
I also look at the Xbox One Slim as the PS2 slim(s), the Xbox 360 slim(s) and the PS3 slim(s) which coincidently, I also bought. The main difference is that at their core, they were the same as the base console. Neo and especially Scorpio is looking to change that and if that happens, that's where my concern and dislike for it comes into play.
My main criticism of Neo is I just truly don't see the point. PS4 is killing Xbox One and with PSVR due out in two months, why not just focus on that the base PS4 as well as games and that's it? To me, Neo could overshadow PSVR and I don't truly understand why Sony would do that.
It basically comes down to this - PS4 is at about 45m and Xbox One is at about 23m in sales. One is dominating and can just cruise until next generation but are choosing to take an unnecessary risk where as the one that's losing needs to do something to rejuvenate and revitalize their brand and ecosystem. In short, my own personal opinion is that for Microsoft, it all makes sense especially when you add in the W10 connection, exclusives being on PC and Scorpio supporting OR and Vive. For Sony, it's an unnecessary risk and gamble.
Pretty much this too. The Xbox One Slim is the same as all the previous consoles that released slim models. And you hit the nail on the head with the Xbox One/Scorpio and Xbox/Xbox 360 comparison. When Microsoft is trailing behind and in this case, badly, they tend to want to move things up.The slim is not a promotion to the vanilla XB as it will perform the same way except you got a slimmer console and no power brick.

In regards to just the Slim itself, I know that it uses HDMI 2.0. Is it compatible with HDMI 1.3? Thanks.Comment

How is it a risky gamble? It's not like NEO is going to count as negative units driving the PS4 back down toward the One in numbers, all these companies are doing is offering their customers an optional upgrade for an improved gaming experience. No risk, no gamble, just a great optional product. Everyone wins"Successful people do not celebrate in the adversity or misfortune of others."

Risk and gamble because it's potentially oversaturating their market. PS4 base, Neo, PSVR (and a rumored Slim) would just be too much. Reminds me of Sega with three different Genesis consoles along with 32X and Sega CD. Just too much at the same time. How is it a risky gamble? I also think that Neo could overshadow PSVR if it launches around the same time and forces Sony to promote too much at one time. Plus, promoting the base PS4 and Neo at the same time could just end up confusing consumers.
Definitely want to see how Sony is going to market and promote it but even more interesting is how they will describe it when they finally show it off. They have to be careful not to alienate those who already own a base PS4. Another factor is that Sony is still keeping the base PS4 on the market where as Microsoft is phasing out the base Xbox One in favor of the Slim. That factors in as well.
If the September 7th date turns out to be real, we'll all know the exact details in a few weeks.Comment

Nah I don't see how it's over saturating if they all will support the same games. If I get a ps neo I can still interact and play with my friends who have the OG ps4 .#1 Laker fan

If NEO comes out looking much nicer then PS4 vanilla and costing 450 the PS4 customers will be upset because just 3 years after speding 400 on ps4 they are playing on an inferior platform at about the same cost they spent. Is easier to swallow that when is 8 year time frame but 3?
I personally cannot care about it because if NEO specs are much better and performs better then vanilla, I will be buying one
Scorpio is well ahead of what xb1 and xb1s can do so that is a no brainer and also 4 years later not 3Comment

I don't know. I think you're cutting customers short.
We've dealt with "Buy something now and in 3 months something better is out for same price" for a while. TV's for one.
Who knows maybe most take consoles in a different light. All I know is, 3 months or 3 years. Better = Probable buy.Last edited by Skyboxer; 08-10-2016, 08:54 PM.Joshua:

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but if Scorpio (or NEO) are going to receive exclusive titles I'm done supporting consoles.
I'm not a PC gamer just for the fact that I don't want to upgrade my hardware every 3 to 4 years.
I'm just now thinking of getting an XB1 so if MS is going to release a new console a year from now, effectively making my console somewhat obsolete, I'll be really ticked off.
This whole thing has become asinine to me.
But maybe gaming has passed me by. Maybe the next gen of gamers like having to upgrade their hardware every 3 to 4 years.
Soon, console parts will be interchangeable so there'll be no difference between PC's and consoles.
Very disappointing to someone in my shoes.Comment
