Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Lol. Isn't that the same question just phrased differently?
The major advantages of the S are its size and 4K capabilities. That said, there are some videos out there showing that games do see more steady framerates across the board thanks to the modest boost in horsepower.
IMO, unless you're just dying for a smaller system, no, it's not worth the upgrade without a 4K set to play on.Comment

Thx. I wasn't buying into the 4k stuff at first . I wanted the slim, but in reality it may be worth just to wait until next year to get the Scorpio and also a 4k set. 4k sets have dropped a lot and I'm sure by next when I get Scorpio a 4k set will be even cheaper. Anyway I think I'll hold off .Lol. Isn't that the same question just phrased differently?

if you have no 4K tv with HDR then is not worth it. But not for the 4K streaming or UHD playerThx. I wasn't buying into the 4k stuff at first . The console has shown slight improvements in some games but remember that this is in games that are already released before the SLIM..We have not seen a new game release on the Slim yet and I bet it will improve slightly more...Nothing earth shattering but improvement.
Also HDR gaming for 3 games coming before scorpio makes it worth it if and only if you have a 4K HDR tv
Gears 4 is going to be epic on HDR
Same for FH 3
Scalebound
Also outputting in 4K on slim makes the tv not have to do the job which in theory improves input lag..
But if you have no 4K then is no useComment

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
I don't have a 4K TV either but I still traded in the base Xbox One for the Slim. Investment wise, it's a good decision as if/when the time comes I sell it, I'll at the very worst break even where as if I would have stayed with the base Xbox One, in time, it would be worth nothing.
The small size and having the power brink being internal is huge for me in regards to space and hassle. Besides, the console looks sweet, has an improved texture gripped controller and will give a slight increase in frames per second for some games.
For $150, it's a good move at least for me. I'll sell off Halo 5 and Halo MCC so that will cut down the cost. Then, I'll get 15000 points at GameStop and combined with the points I received from trading in the base Xbox One, I'll get at least an extra $25 towards games at GameStop so the out of pocket cost will be under $100 and long term, I know for sure that I'll at the very least get back the difference so investment wise, it's a far better decision for me to swap out the base Xbox One for the Slim because at the very least, I'll break even which im perfectly fine with.
Looking forward to picking it up on Tuesday.

I see where your coming from, I feel the same way, but IDK just thinking about it, I love the small form factor and minus power brick, but neither f those issues right now effecting anything with me. I have the space and the power brick sits right behind my TV off the floor, so I never had issues with that.I don't have a 4K TV either but I still traded in the base Xbox One for the Slim. I really do want the Slim and sure had plans on getting it, but in the end if my TV doesn't support 4K features whats the point then, just to say I have something new, I'm kinda over those days of needing the newest system. And I'm sure next year the trade value of the Slim will be $150 too which in the end kinda makes no sense. I can just keep the old model I have now and just buy Scorpio without trading.N.Y Mets

Same thing for me in regards to the base Xbox One in regards to space and hassle with the power brick being behind my TV stand but just not having to deal with it is a huge positive. I have always hated when a console has a power brick. It's just one of my pet peeves. I gotcha. Investment wise, it's a smart move for me especially when I know that at the very least, I'll break even when the time comes to move on. Also, im not really spending $150. It will be under $100 once I sell off the two games and use the points on games that I would be buying anyway at GameStop.
For me, main reason is that it's just a good investment money wise. Everything else is just added bonuses.Comment

Looks like GS is offering $200 for PS4/X1 if you get the new X1S. Might to pull the trigger now since I have a 4K curved Samsung.Last edited by DirtyJerz32; 08-21-2016, 03:11 AM.Moderator

It's $200 for trading in a PS4 but $150 for trading in an Xbox One.Comment

Technically yes but I got a little over 200 for mine. It's $150 for just the system, they took my controller, Kinect, and peripherals separate.

Oh, okay. You had extras to trade in. I thought you were getting $200 just for the base console itself.Comment
