Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Sounds like I'm in the minority here, but if Scorpio (or NEO) are going to receive exclusive titles I'm done supporting consoles.
I'm not a PC gamer just for the fact that I don't want to upgrade my hardware every 3 to 4 years.
I'm just now thinking of getting an XB1 so if MS is going to release a new console a year from now, effectively making my console somewhat obsolete, I'll be really ticked off.
This whole thing has become asinine to me.
But maybe gaming has passed me by. Maybe the next gen of gamers like having to upgrade their hardware every 3 to 4 years.
Soon, console parts will be interchangeable so there'll be no difference between PC's and consoles.
Very disappointing to someone in my shoes.
Both Sony and MS have stated that no exclusives will happen for their new consoles but they never said for ever and I fully expect both companies to have exclusive games within 2 and at most 3 years. They wont at first to not anger the vanilla base but if the point is to have the best of what they offer in homes then they cannot keep Neo or Scorpio with no exclusives
Is the same fight we have had for a while saying that PS3 and XB360 were holding back PS4 and XB1 because many of the hit games were also made for last gen consoles taking up resources.
Same thing will apply in 2 years.
Console will never be like PC because changing hardware every 2-4 years is just hardware but you will always be in equal footing with the rest of the players unlike PC and you will always have optimized games unlike PC
PC can give you way better graphics and frames per second with other little graphical perks but they cant ever give you an even playing field with Johnny with the 500 keyboard and 300 mouse
That will never be the case on console...Why do you think online shooters are always alive in consoles and die quickly on PC unless is a BF game or an exclusive PC shooter.
Consoles make the bread for devs, not PCComment

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Neo and Scorpio will be getting exclusives starting day one. The exclusive part is that the games will LOOK, RUN and PLAY BETTER than on the base consoles. THAT's the exclusive part.
For argument sake, say Battlefield 1 runs on the base PS4 at 900P/30FPS but on Neo runs at 1080P/60FPS. That difference IS the exclusive aspect because you're obviously not getting that on the base console.
I have said this before and I'll say it again - base PS4/PS4 Neo is cross-gen within the same generation. Base Xbox One/Scorpio is the same thing but to an even higher extent because of the supposed specs of Scorpio.
With Neo/Scorpio, you'll get more foliage, enemies, etc. on screen running at the best resolution and frame rate but with the base consoles, some games will feel like the cross-gen games on Xbox 360/Xbox One and PS3/PS4.
Sad part is that the main aspect that I want will most likely stay the same. And that's all the damn pop-in when playing games. I would easily sacrifice resolution and FPS in order to minimize or fully eliminate all the damn pop-in because at times, it's beyond horrible.
The Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher III is gorgeous but jeez, the pop-in annoying and aggravating.Comment

It is no different then what we got the first 2 years with PS4 and XB1...The sme game came out on PS3 and XB360 with better performance on the PS4 and XB1...That does not make it exclusive...Looking better is not an exclusive...An exclusive is something only found on that platform...
You cannot expect that 3 years down the line that a game will come out for ps4 vanilla and neo...The rapidly increasing NEO or Scorpio fanbase will have pitch forks claiming the game could have been better if they did not bother worrying about optimizing for the lowest common denominator.
It will happen just like it happened this gen the first 2 years.
Just because it came out on two disc it does not mean is the same damm game but looking better on one console over the previous generation console.
PS4 and XB1 owners will get the same game for the next few years but if they think they will continue to get the same game as Neo and Scorpio 3-4 years later they are sadly in for a rude awakening.
I honestly feel that MS is doing the Scorpio thing to start to **** their customer based towards PC down the line....Comment

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
What bothers me about this whole mess is that people will essentially have to upgrade every 3 or 4 years.
I know people who haven't even upgraded to XB1 or PS4 yet.
So should they wait for NEO and Scorpio instead? And what happens when they do, and the XB Zodiac hits stores 3 years later?
I guess this is the end of me as a gamer. I have no interest in playing this silly game.
I liked buying a console and not worrying for at least 7 years.
The PS2 and Xbox 360 were dream consoles IMO because both lasted so long and had a terrific library of games to enjoy before having to make the jump.
Heck, I still play the 360 more than my PS4 now.Comment

Though you can still do that....keep a PS4 or Xbox One original and roll with that....both companies have said that all games will play on both. Plus, since you're obviously not interested in upgrades, and you like the 360, then the graphical improvements won't matter. What bothers me about this whole mess is that people will essentially have to upgrade every 3 or 4 years.

In 4 years when there's Scorpio/Neo exclusives then it'll have been that 7 year cycle anyways.
I dunno, it's all our choice. I don't know if I'll upgrade to Scorpio next year, and if I did it'd probably be only one Xbox, leave the bedroom one just a normal one.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Upgrade to Scorpio for me will probably depend on the amount of support for Play Anywhere.
I've already got EA Access on PC, and based on my current play habits the reality is I'm Madden on PC in some form away from just being done w/ consoles.Comment

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
It's exclusive because for the first time ever, the differences will be seen within the same generation. When you go from gen to gen, you expect the new gen to surpass the previous gen and for cross-gen games to be better on new gen hardware than previous gen hardware. Now, it's going to be where you're expecting games to be better on "newer" current gen hardware than it was on the now "old" current gen hardware. To me, that's the exclusive aspect and in time, I do believe that there will in fact be games that only are playable on Neo/Scorpio because the base consoles won't be able to run them properly. It is no different then what we got the first 2 years with PS4 and XB1...The sme game came out on PS3 and XB360 with better performance on the PS4 and XB1...That does not make it exclusive...Looking better is not an exclusive...An exclusive is something only found on that platform...

Scorpio is a good move for Microsoft in my opinion. It makes sense for them. Xbox One is being outsold 2-1 and even the Slim model is still inferior to the current PS4 spec wise so releasing a high spec console like Scorpio makes sense as Xbox One has always been seen as inferior spec wise.
Microsoft is first and foremost, a computer software company so im not surprised that they're merging Xbox One with Windows 10. If anything, im surprised that they didn't do this sooner. Exclusives will still be on Xbox One and them being on PC means nothing to me. It's the same as say No Man's Sky.
I'm a console gamer so as long as their exclusives still get released on Xbox One, im good. Scorpio is also for 4K and VR support which is smart. Releasing Scorpio over a year from now gives Microsoft time to see if the 4K TV install base increases as well as the VR aspect without putting any money into developing a VR headset themselves which is smart.
Scorpio is basically a test to see if 4K/VR is the future of gaming and if it is, they will already be headed in the right direction. If not, they can still go ahead with Xbox 4.
Only thing I disagree with is Scorpio being related to Xbox One. I understand why they're doing it but I still think that they should have just went straight to Xbox 4.
Only time will tell how it all plays out.Comment

Plus there's always the rumored stream PC to Xbox One (opposite of what they have now)....
Then I'd just keep both boxes as streaming boxes, kinect with tv, and look into upgrading my PC instead.
I don't game enough (to be honest) to warrant a huge push to Scorpio...plus I can deal with not as perfect graphics....I'd benefit more from a new tv before going to Scorpio anywaysNintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I have to have the new shiny things, but traded in the PS4 and not getting Neo, perhaps times are changing. Sony will need to adopt a some of the things MS is doing well with (streaming to PC a big one) for me to consider a PS5, but I'm not getting back into their ecosystem prior to that.Comment

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
I've realized it's too expensive to keep up with 2 ecosystems (with PS+ or Gold, etc) and as I have kids I don't have tons of time. Maybe as my son and future daughters get older I'll end up with more time (at night, or they want to play, etc) but that's a while away. Small kids eat up time lolI have to have the new shiny things, but traded in the PS4 and not getting Neo, perhaps times are changing. Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017
Yeah, PS+ has been pretty poor if you only are paying for it for the games, I don't mind paying for both but cancelled that in January and it's been used basically as a Netflix/Amazon box by my toddlers, so traded it in several months later and got the 2nd Xbox.
Now I just need to find a clean way to stream from either one, so when the living room is in use I can boot up the other remotely. Since that one is logging into my wife's account by default I'm not sure I can do that without getting up off my @#% and changing profiles - but then that'd log out the living room while they're streaming, which I'm sure is less than ideal.
I'm sure I can figure something out, maybe make an account for the kids to stream from in the living room or something. Need to do some testing.Comment

What I did before was use the smart glass app on my phone to turn the one I wanted to stream from and then connect through smart glass. That would sign my profile in (barring it didn't need a pass code) and then I went to the win10 xbox app and could stream.Yeah, PS+ has been pretty poor if you only are paying for it for the games, I don't mind paying for both but cancelled that in January and it's been used basically as a Netflix/Amazon box by my toddlers, so traded it in several months later and got the 2nd Xbox.
