Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017

As has been said by many others I would much rather have 1080p with ULTRA EVERYTHING settings wise than 4k with medium settings/corners cut. I see what Uber is saying, and I think he is right, especially with the Pro. I am sure the Scorpio will have much better "4k capability" than pro, though, whatever that is worth.

The Scorpio to NMS comparison is pretty valid if you look at the base principle of expectations vs reality. A lot of people don't realize what the "price" of 4k gaming will be in the near future as far as settings being dropped/corners cut for most games.

Don't be surprised if they price it the same as the PS4 pro.

Definitely possible considering it comes out a year later. Though I guess when/if that happens they just lower the price of the Pro. That being said, and don't be afraid to hold this against me down the road when we find out, bit I will be SHOCKED if the Scorpio costs 400 bucks at launch. Less than 500 would surprise me, honestly. More RAM and SATA3 hard drive speeds would be a MUST IMO

Re: Xbox One S Arrives in Early August, Project Scorpio Scheduled For Holiday 2017

If I was Spencer, I would make sure that "we" go all out with Scorpio. No higher than $500 but I would really say screw it and release it for $300. Yeah, they would be losing a decent amount of money but the way I look at it is that they need to cut ties with the Xbox One brand and make Scorpio an entire new console. Fully backwards compatible with all Xbox One games playable on Scorpio with no emulation or patches whatsoever. Put the disc in (or download the digital purchase) and just play. The $300 price tag counters the pretty much guaranteed PS4 Pro price drop in a year from now to $300. Scorpio being $300 makes that price drop a non-factor.

And in no way, shape or form should Scorpio be Microsoft's version of Sony's PS4 PRO for one simple reason - compare Scorpio to the current Xbox One Slim/base Xbox One. Games running on Scorpio would be held back badly by the Slim/base Xbox One.

Imagine Crackdown 3 (which I believe will be Microsoft's game that will show off the Scorpio's power) being held down/back by the current Xbox One/Slim. It would be a disaster. Have already seen a lot of negative feedback regarding PS4 Pro in regards to the games just having a higher resolution and that's it because it's being held back by the base PS4.

That's just my own personal opinion and what im hoping Microsoft does in regards to Scorpio.

I definitely agree with this. I am not sure there is much sense in having a system 6x more powerful than your base system if you can't take full advantage of that power. Although I also understand about not wanting gamers to feel "left behind." Though didn't they say they will be doing a trade-up program?

As far as you hearing negative feedback to the PRO, I don wanna turn this into a PS4 PRO debate thread as we have done that numerous times in multiple other threads, but one thing I will say is I think that people just need to wait and see what we get when it comes out. I've read articles from people claiming they noticed night and day differences at 1080p with PRO Mode games, and I also read articles from people claiming the difference was negligible. It does seem like the PRO, at launch, doesn't have the most impressive list of "PRO MODE" game support but I am expecting that to grow and improve as time goes on much like any console improves over time in the cycle. I would expect Scorpio to launch with a more impressive and pronounced list of improved games for the Scorpio.

As of right now I think I have only found a list that details the graphical enhancements at 1080p for the pro in like 5 games (like extra AA, improved testures, etc), and that needs to grow for sure.

Exactly for the first paragraph. The "left behind" gimmick is bullcrap. Once the first PS4 Pro game that runs at 1080P/60FPS while it runs at 1080P/30FPS on the base/slim PS4, you've already been left behind.

Regarding Pro, the increase in power was for the GPU which in itself tells you what the focus is going to be on. Resolution will always be more important even though it shouldn't be. Games will definitely look better on Pro but FPS and the important stuff will be non-existent. Also, having parity for online gaming in regards to FPS is bullcrap. If PC gamers can have some people playing at 30FPS while others are playing at 120FPS and you never hear anyone complaining about it, why is it restricted on Pro? I'm not an online gamer at all and even I disagree with that.

What's the point in having extra power and capabilities if you're still being restricted and held back by the inferior console?

This is why Scorpio SHOULD be Microsoft's next gen console and having nothing to do with Xbox One. Backwards compatibility would be the only connection so if you do buy Scorpio, all your Xbox One games will play on it without emulation or patches. Microsoft lost, they got crushed, time to move on.

I prefer they use the checker board tech for 4K instead of native and just make everything else ultra. Digital foundary is saying it looks great on the PS4 pro and barely noticeable so I prefer that. Making games 4K on the Scorpio and cutting corners is the Xbox one back to square one.

One thing I strongly predict/believe is that MS is gonna do what Sony has failed to do (thus far at least) and demonstrate significant improvement with games playing on Scorpio whether 1080p or 4k. I am sure we will get a bunch of HD side-by-side footage leading up to release.

Regardless, I look forward to owning both consoles.

Having an odd issue with my Xbox one S.

Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of war 4 both do this.

When I put the disc in and start the game my console reboots.

Comes back up and logs me in and everything is fine, start game and the console reboots.

                    I have tried power cycling.

Only "fix" I have is to put in a game like Fifa 17, start it then minimize and quit. Then I can load Forza or Gears with no reboot.

These 2 games are MS 1st party games basically and they are the only 2 causing these reboot loops.

Coincidentally also two of the only play anywhere games.

I have no idea though, haven't heard of those problems before. Just others with forza.

Hey everyone. I got the XB1S GoW bundle this weekend, and I noticed that the system has a slight buzz noise to it. Not really that loud, but it's something I notice when room is quiet. Curious for those who have the S if that's normal. May not even be an issue, but I don't want a faulty fan.

Here's a video demonstrating the noise I have. Should I contact Microsoft and see if they'll exchange it?
