Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Comparing - you have a combination of a far bigger library of over 700 games for both PS4/Xbox One, far better third party support, first and second party exclusives, third party games are like exclusives, far superior online capabilities, no gimmicks, better indie/psn/xbla games, 4K resolution upscaling, HDR, WCG and in the case of the Xbox One Slim - 4K Blu Ray playback. Hell, Switch doesn't even have an ETHERNET port. Come on. It's not even close even if you're the most diehard Nintendo fan.
And this is all without factoring in the pricing. Nintendo better hope, wish and pray that Scorpio gets delayed a year because if not, the holiday season will leave Nintendo behind.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
There are at least a few games considered must have games on Ps4 and some other ones considered really good and considering you can get a ps4 for only 50 more then the switch but that is with a game where with switch no game so really switch is like 10 more then ps4 when you factor in how much it cost to just get the system and 1 game. When it comes to the switch the only kind of must have game on day 1 is Zelda and you can already get it on wii u then the next one is not in till holidays when it comes to Mario.
Sorry but after watching that presentation the other day, all my excitement and hype is pretty much gone. Was tempted to buy it but the more info that gets leaked out, the worse it gets. At least for me anyway.
Come holiday season, I can easily see PS4 and Xbox Slim being $200, PRO $300 and Scorpio $400. If Switch is still $300, let's be honest, it's going to get buried.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
From neogaf based on Digital Foundry video -
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ktFlmH_0CI
Nintendo Switch
-720p and locked 30fps in handheld mode
-900p and 30fps when docked
-Texture filtering is poor
-Frame-rate drops typically seem to happen when there's depth of field on screen
-Lowest recorded frame-rate is 20fps.
The handheld is fine and nothing more can truly be expected but if it ends up where the Wii U version actually runs better, that's going to be bad for Nintendo.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Actually, PS4 Slim is $300 with Uncharted 4. Xbox One Slim is $280 with Battlefield 1. PS4 Pro is $400. The appeal of Switch is it's hybrid concept but launch wise, outside of Zelda, no point in buying it. Plus, it's Wii U all over again. No new games, no true third party support. Seriously, the console is getting Rayman Legends??? WTF Ubisoft???

Oh right I forgot that ps4 slim is 300 not 350. I think I confused my self because around black Friday and December time it was down to like 250 and I think I was confusing me self with that 250 being 350 lol my bad. So yeah it cost the same to get a ps4 slim has switch only you get a game with ps4 slim and not with the switch. So really switch is like 60 more then ps4 slim right now. Yeah I see ps4 slim being either 250 or 200 come holidays and slim xboxone kind of the same thing. Pro I think will be either 350 or 300 but I do think Scorpio is going to be higher then 400 I am thinking either 450 or 500 just sounds like Scorpio is going to cost a lot. Now if Switch was 300 but came with Zelda and had better games in its first few months then its price would not be that big of a issue. Yeah when I saw the Rayman thing I was thinking really? Why not a new one instead?Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
If docked can really not do better then 900p and 30fps that is pathetic because even some wii u games are 1080p and 60fps and this also says that Zelda cant be 1080p with 60 fps even though some reports say it can.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I love how gaming and console discussion come down to comparing specs and features nowadays...I've hardly read anything in the last 3 pages about if any of the games do what they are supposed to do: be fun and entertaining.
Watched some more vids today:
Snipperclips: looks fun to play
ARMS: looks to be to fighting games what Splatoon was to shooters...and fun
MK8: fun
Honestly, I could give a crap if a game is 1080p or 900p...does it entertain me and make me want to keep playing? Watching reaction vids online last night of groups of people, several near my age (almost 40) cheering, smiling, and laughing with each other when Mario jumped out of that manhole put a smile on my face.
I guess I'm just old...."Back in my day (what you call retro now), we played on a 240i console that flickered and lagged....and loved every minute of it!"

Well graphics are not ever thing yes it is about how fun a game is or is not but the thing is Nintendo is like 2 gens behind ps4 and xboxone it sounds like and a lot of the games on the switch doesn't do much for me. Zelda looks great but is also on wii u and Mario is not in till holidays. Splatoon 2 we don't know if its single player is going to be better then the first games and I don't play online. So because Zelda is already on wii u if I get the switch the first 10 months I would be getting it for just 2 games in Mario and splatoon 2 as nothing else looks good and interesting to me and even those 2 games don't have a date yet just a general time period of when they may come out.Last edited by Smallville102001; 01-14-2017, 05:38 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Visuals aren't the most important aspect but frame rate is simply because if the game isn't running well, it's not going to play well which turn affects the gameplay and from there, the fun you would have with the game.
Maybe im just expecting too much from Nintendo knowing that they can't and most likely won't ever meet those expectations.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Well at the moment I have two preorders out. One through Gamestop and one through Amazon. Completely paid off Gamestop thanks to that trade promotion. Gave them my XB1 and 2DS with games, and ended up with enough to entirely pay off the systems and most of 1,2 Switch. I wasn't ever planning on buying 1,2 Switch at MSRP, but only needing to spend $15 on it after trade ins was enough to pull the trigger. That trade in deal is actually really good, especially since I've been hedging on selling my Xbox One since they made all Xbox games essentially playable on the computer, I could replace it with my gaming computer.
I'm going to wait and see if anyone I know wants a Switch before I cancel the Amazon preorder. Really wanted the system with the neon controllers but they are sold out everywhere sadly. Guy tried to sell me them real hard at gamestop, but too expensive for me, especially when most of my multiplayer gaming is done online since most of my high school friends have spread out pretty far stateside.Bulls|Bears|Cubs| Blackhawks|Huskies|Horned Frogs|

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Exactly. I don't care about the specs. I'm not looking to replace my PS4. I'm buying simply because I want to play Mario, Zelda, and other Nintendo exclusives. Those games are fun to me. That is what I spend my money on gaming for, fun and enjoyment.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I am glad I grew up with NES/SNES and don't give a crap about graphics. A game can be amazing without photo realistic visuals. I have actually noticed a lot of times the games with the best graphics are usually lacking in the gameplay and fun dept. Give me 16 bit and fun any day.
With that said, I expected a much better launch lineup.Comment
