Don't other systems have the same model? I can only think of one game (Zen Pinball) that was a cross platform purchase.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
If I was to get a new WiiU and had already sold my current Wii U I couldn't just redownload the games I bought as the games are tied to the console not your NNID name.
So if I buy a Switch and it had retro games ability through store (Old N64 games etc..) I would have to rebuy them as again they are tied to the system I bought them on and not my Nintendo NNID name.
Heck do we even know what type of storage the Switch will have? Possibly 0 anyways as the games are cartridge based... so it would be a non issue if so.Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-24-2016, 06:13 PM.Joshua:

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Half of that is the same as PSN, though.
If you're buying a completely different system (ie: WiiU to Switch) then you'll probably have to rebuy those games again. The games I've bought for PS3 I cannot play on PS4 unless I buy them again with the notable exception being Zen Pinball.
Buying another of the same console is different, though, as PSN ties everything to your PSN log-in.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Would not be surprised if they renamed Virtual Console to something else on Switch because of how limited their old system is and made everyone rebuy anything they want.
We'll see though what Nintendo does now they they know about the internet.Comment

. I was just curious if the games are still tied to the console and not the username.
And Sony has nothing like that due to they have no bc.
. On xbox any digital games I bought on 360 IF they become available on BC I can download again free on the XBOX 1.
With Nintendo it's a no go due to games being tied to console...Joshua:

I'm saying even if you are buying the same system you have to buy again with Nintendo a setup.

Also, I wish Nintendo would throw us Wii U owners a bone by making the Pro Controllers compatible. I have 3 of these things.Last edited by XtremeDunkz; 10-24-2016, 07:56 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Yes if I had one gripe that would probably be it. I DO prefer to buy the games on my console as opposed to going the Rom route but I have bought a couple VC games twice already, not buying them a 3rd.
Also, I wish Nintendo would throw us Wii U owners a bone by making the Pro Controllers compatible. I have 3 of these things.
About the controllers in general: while people are excited about the '360 setup' for the thumbsticks, I'm a little concerned about its placement on the Joy-Con (the parts that slide on and off the tablet). In every stick/button configuration, the relationship is at an angle due to the pivot of the thumb around the radius of the knuckle with the rest of the hand. DualShot, XBone, Wii U...no matter the configuration of stick and buttons, they're always at about a 45-60 angle. On the Joy-Con, they are directly above one another. I'm trying to picture moving my thumb STRAIGHT DOWN from the buttons to the sticks comfortably. That alone would probably push me to play more with the pro controller from the get go.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
$250 is the only way that this succeeds. Again, pricing it effectively the same as PS4 and Xbox One at $299 will kill its chances.
Also, one thing to note that is the biggest issue aside from price point is something I see in this thread, a large group of people who got burnt by the Wii U taking a "wait and see" approach.
If it doesn't sell right out of the gate for the above two reasons it could be disastrous as it will lose support from third party and the "wait and see" crowd will keep on waiting.
I'm hopeful that this succeeds but I think if Nintendo follows what some in this thread seem to be saying it will most likely be a huge flop and spell the end for Nintendo.
Sorry but there's just not enough older gamers who travel frequently like some in this thread to make this thing a success. Children? Yes but just getting the children market is doubtful enough to have this work and work well - they need to get some of the actual gamer market as well and its a tough sell unless they meet a certain price point and/or have the software that makes it a compelling sale in year 1.
Yeah I agree about the wii u hurting this. I love the wii u but even I am kind of iffy about this because most likely it is going to be under powered again and I am mad that Nintendo basically stopped with the wii u after only 3 years and I fell like really this system is about a year maybe 2 years to soon. While being able to play games on the go is interesting I don't have really that much need for that has I don't play much on handhelds any way. The only handhelds I have are Gameboy color and 3ds and I don't even have many games on 3ds. Nintendo is going to have to impress me a lot for me to get one on day 1. Like not only Zelda but like at least one other must own game like a 3d DK game or something. If they don't have another must own game I am most likely just going to buy Zelda on wii u and want to get Switch in like 2018.Last edited by Smallville102001; 10-24-2016, 09:53 PM.Comment

Nintendo posted their earnings: Nintendo loses less money, but Switch can't come fast enough
They plan to ship 2 million Switch consoles globally by the end of the fiscal year (March 2017)Comment

I hate to sound so cynical because man I love Nintendo, I grew up on that and have tons of great memories from it, but I think once again Nintendo and their fans think that a new Nintendo system can compete on the same tier with the two established giants and I'm sorry but it's not the same tier.
And while I agree that you don't have to necessarily travel to play this, you could for example use it while the wife watches tv, again I think this is a feature a lot of folks think would be great but in practice it really is not used all that often.
Heck the Wii U can be played on the little screen while the main tv isn't used and I remember thinking that would be awesome to use while I gamed on my PS4 and the wife could game on the Wii U but guess what? We used that all of about one or two times and that was it.
So man, I do want this to succeed, I'm keeping a very close eye on it but something needs to happen extraordinary here to keep Nintendo in the game, either a huge really awesome price point or a plethora of nostalgic games (Animal Crossing, F-Zero, Kid Icarus, Tecmo Bowl) that are needed is going to have to happen.
Just being able to use this system in unique ways as shown in the trailer makes for a really cool trailer but it is not, for most people anyways, going to push this system anymore than all the cool things the Wii U could do IMHO.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Been thinking about this a lot and what I really want, I pretty much already know I won't get. A real online network like XBL. Give me voice chat, saving and sending highlights, streaming. Let me play Mario co op online. Let me and my friends play Mario Party online now that we can't just go over each others houses anymore.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I don't know if online is something that's held them back.
The lack of 3rd party support and really 1st party releases is what held them back.
That and a weak *** advertisement plan... No one freaking knew about the system..
Basically a leadership team that knew what they were doing is what held them back. And still does.
I barely online game now and really have zero desire to do so on a Nintendo console.
They have a ways to go before even attempting online play... like getting rid of the 1/2 *** ESHOP system where games are tied to console and not user...
With that said it would be cool to have for those that would like to online game with a Nintendo system etc...Last edited by Skyboxer; 10-26-2016, 04:52 PM.Joshua:

I am 28 years old. As a kid I would play Mario Kart, Mario Party, Super Smash Bros, etc with siblings, friends, cousins when they would simply come over my house and play. These days, everyone lives all over the country. I am not going to buy Mario Party to play by myself. Super Mario 3D World would have gotten 10 times the amount of play by me if I could have played co op online with friends. My friends and I played Mario Kart and Smash online, but we had to use XBL party chat at the same time to talk!
Nintendo needs to do better.Comment
