    Spec discussion and outrage.

Good luck third parties on porting anything modern and meet the expectations of fickle gamers.

I have a PS4 and XB1 for all the fancy stuff. If Switch plays Mario and Zelda, and is priced properly, those specs are no concern to me.

Yeah I only buy Nintendo to play Nintendo exclusive titles.

I really don't care about specs and such, so long as I get new Mario, Zelda, and Donkey Kong games then I'm a satisfied gamer.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yeah. I feel pretty much the same way. Except this time Zelda is releasing on a console I already own. So that's not a selling point for me. Looks like they are setting themselves up to fail third party wise again though.

Yeah. If the price is right, I'm okay with it basically being a Nintendo machine.

But I will be playing Zelda and pooping at the same time.

              Marvelous times!

I wonder if it'll just be like coding for PS4 and PS4 Pro? two different scenarios?

Basically. For an idea of the difference, here's how someone smarter than me put it:
307mhz in portable mode, 256 shader cores with 2 FP32 modules means around 157 gflops performance in portable mode, double that in docked IF the devs choose (many won't). By comparison a Wii U is 176 gflops, a 3DS is 2.9 gflops, and a Xbox One is 1300 gflops, a ps4 is 1840 gflops, and a ps4 pro is around 4200 gflops.

While the NX will be faster than a wii u when docked (but not really by THAT much) its going to be slower than a wii u in portable mode. Still 50x faster than a 3ds so I guess thats progress, and a 157 gflops portable machine is quite nice. A vita runs around 6 gflops I believe, but the new Apple/Samsung phones are all 300+ and should be 600+ for next years models.

gonna make it tough for third party ports though, sure you could downgrade your games visuals but going from baseline 1 tflops to 0.3 or 0.5 is not that easy.

I guess for me then my hope is a unified Nintendo strategy where one system is mobile and home, so we get more and better first party games...not just one zelda per generation

FLOPS aren't measured equally. You can't compare Nvidia to AMD, or any other chip-set provider. So, saying the NX in portable mode is slower than a Wii U based purely on FLOPS isn't accurate, not to mention the 6 years of advancement in architecture.

Docked performance is lower than I expected.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

Switch will sell better than Wii U but it will still be dead in three years or less. Only way Switch takes off is if the battery life is excellent and handheld gamers buy it to replace 3DS.

I'm still interested in it for Nintendo's first party games and for Virtual Console games which is said to be developed for the console by those who actually did the Dolphin emulator. I'm not surprised by the severe lack of power and the console being gimmick based. That's simply what Nintendo has become over the last two decades. Outside of the fluke known as the Wii, all of their consoles have sold less and less with each release. So sad. Such a great video game company with arguably the best IP library in history and they still, simply just don't get it.

Third parties will be the same as with the Wii U. All the ports will be old, not make any money and the publishers will leave within two years if not sooner. The only thing that will save this console is a cheap price (im expecting $200 base console at launch), an excellent launch lineup and virtual console to be ready to go with a crapload of games at launch.

Such a sad day for Nintendo fans in my opinion.

SLOWER????? than the Wii U was in portable mode??? Holy crap. WTF Nintendo??? Crap like this is just why I don't care about Nintendo anymore. So sad since I was actually interested in Switch and thought about buying it at launch. May just buy one to flip it since Nintendo always under ships on purpose. UGH.

I'm still waiting for January 12th. Zelda looks great. I don't care what it runs on, but I need to play it. A new 3D/third-person Mario is exciting.

My concern is if Nintendo can keep putting out exclusive games on a consistent basis. I want Donkey Kong. I want a new game starring Luigi (would love another Luigi's Mansion). I want new exclusives similar to Epic Mickey.

Hopefully in January they'll show us more games.

Nintendo games aren't really the concern. The console won't last long term without consistent third party support. Skyrim is all well and good BUT if it's the original 2011 release, why would anyone want to buy that for most likely $60 when they could buy Skyrim remastered for PS4/Xbox One for less?

Definitely looking forward to January 12th. For me to buy a Switch, Nintendo has to confirm a Switch version of Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad and DKC: TF from Wii U and VC titles from SNES, N64 and GCN to be available day one or within the first year. Also, launch lineup is important.

A few more weeks to go!!!

This person doesn't know what their talking about. You can't say it's slower based off of just FLOPS. Unless you're comparing from the same chip-set provider, it's not an apples to apples comparison. The NX is using Nvidia, while Wii U used AMD, and it's 2014 architecture vs 2008.

One of many examples I could give: Nvidia's GTX 1070 is rated at 6.5TF vs AMD's Fury X at 8.6TF. If you didn't know any better, you would think the higher number would mean the AMD card is more powerful, but in actuality the 1070 is on average ~10% faster.

In portable mode it should be slightly above Wii U. In docked mode it's essentially a Wii U Pro. The docked performance seems a bit disappointing for sure though.
