    Definitely looking forward to January 12th. For me to buy a Switch, Nintendo has to confirm a Switch version of Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad and DKC: TF from Wii U and VC titles from SNES, N64 and GCN to be available day one or within the first year. Also, launch lineup is important.

    A few more weeks to go!!!
    All of you guys who are wanting this third party support - do you guys own a PS4 or Xbox One?

      That's not really the point. Third party support is crucial for the consoles success.

        I'm all about Nintendo exclusives as well but without strong third party support, the console will sell less. If it sells less, Nintendo will abandon it and make a new console. Rinse, repeat.

        Then those cool exclusives will be three or four games for a $300 machine.

        It's not as if this will be the first time Nintendo has followed this format...and failed.

          I feel like its a catch-22 that Nintendo has put itself in due to the past two consoles. Third party-support is great and I understand the need for it, but if people are buying the Switch as a second or third console then who is going to buy these multi-platform games?

          Sure, it would be cool to play some non-Nintendo games on the go, but I'm not going to buy a multi-platform game on the Switch because of it.

            Yeah the only games that I'll purchase on Nintendo consoles are Nintendo exclusive titles. I have a PS4 for everything else.

            Ideally, they would find a way to be successful by using their library of games such as:

            * Mario Bros
            * Mario Kart
            * Mario Party
            * Mario Sports Titles
            * Luigi Games
            * Donkey Kong
            * Donkey Kong Jr
            * Metroid
            * Zelda
            * Epic Mickey
            * Pokémon
            I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

            I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

              One could argue that if this is the successor to 3DS and Wii U then they'll probably get a lot of 3rd party since Nintendo portables sell a ton....

              Just remains to be seen how this sells off the bat. A more limited but better than tablet mobile experience would be a lot of fun for most people. Kids don't care about FLOPS to be honest. This is better targeted at kids vs. the Wii U where they didn't have a good strategy.

                This is what i said, needs to be $199 and it'll be a hit IMO, much more than that and it'll be a Wii U redux fail

                  Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

                  In regards to the third party support, yes that is an issue but honestly...Nintendo has a HUGE backlog of great games that they have not done anything with that could help the Switch do well..

                  I mean Kid Icarus, F-Zero, RC Pro Am, Super Tecmo Bowl...

                  And yes I know some of those are third party but my point is if they can get those games made then they will do really really well.

                  And games like RC Pro Am and Super Tecmo Bowl, although third party, really wouldn't be competing with anything on the other "big two" consoles...

                  The bottom line: To make the Nintendo Switch a big success Nintendo has looked forward to the future, which is great, but they should also look back to their past to see what made them great to begin with..

                    Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

                    And one other thought, I see the new Zelda game and it looks awesome but it's sort of like a game that would be on the Xbox One or PS4..

                    Why doesn't Nintendo maybe make some versions of their classic games in a way that is updated and preys on nostalgia but is also not in direct competition with the other two systems in regards to how it looks and plays?

                    In other words, don't try to make a Madden 18 when you can make a game like a Tecmo Bowl type game. Don't make a first person shooter like a Call of Duty when you can make a game like Doom.

                    The Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo in general, can do really well as a unique system if Nintendo markets it and makes games for it in that way...

                    Am I getting my point across on this or am I spinning my wheels here? Because I'm not sure..LOL

                      So here's the question

                      Is...

                      The Nintendo Switch > The Wii U?

                      Is the Nontendo switch more powerful than the wii u?

                      Right now Mario kart 8 looks stunning minus the anti aliasing.

                      is the Switch's mario kart game going to be LESS visually?

                        Not to disagree with you because, yes, the backlog of Nintendo exclusives is impressive.

                        My concern is, wasn't that the argument before? We are going on, what, ten years of Nintendo ****ting the bed on its consoles by selling hype over a backlog it never creates.

                        Instead we will get a Zelda game (always amazing), a Mario game and...another Mario game that involves painting or building or stickers or something?

                        Where's the backlog of these exclusive titles in the previous consoles or even on the 3DS?

                        I'll believe it when I see it, I guess.

                          Their only hope is that since all dev teams (in theory) could focus on this system, then they can make more 1st party games, and have more Mario, Zelda, etc on the system. Instead of the "one version per generation" crap they push nowadays.

                              Honestly, if games like Retro City Rampage and Don't Starve make it into Nintendo's eco-system I would probably buy them again.

                                I would welcome this philosophy. I'm tired of the Maddens, WWE 2ks, etc... I want games to be FUN again. Not many new games have been fun for me. Going back to games with a less realistic experience is something the console industry is lacking right now. Stop with the endless line of real-life graphics where you constantly blow stuff up. Console gaming seems to be in a bit of a rut.
