If you consider it a mobile Wii U you can dock it'll probably slightly exceed your expectations. How much is to be determined because we haven't seen many of the games announced, and titles like FIFA are being based off their 360/PS3 counterparts and not the current gen games.
The console doesn't compare to the other current gen consoles favorably at all unless you're considering 1st party titles and portability exclusively.Last edited by mestevo; 01-15-2017, 07:03 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
So with all the talk about the price of the switch and its controllers I am just wondering am I the only one who has a wii and wii u and never owned a pro controller? I didn't care much for wii over all and like the wii u a lot but I always just used the wii controller and wii u gamepad and never used a pro controller.Comment

It's 2017 they should all be wifi and good wifi. It's a tablet. Do you walk around with Ethernet connected to your iPad or laptop?
The last laptop I bought also didn't have Ethernet ports.

What's the issue here with the Nintendo hardcore fans being so sensitive about legit questions and concerns?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Lol. I'm the least hardcore Nintendo fan. If you really think I'm "upset" I guess I need to change my tone.
Guess I can't win either way. LOL

I agree with your other points that wifi should be great but that's an assumption on what people across the country have. It's not necessarily the case for everyone to have reliable wifi.
I do understand why Nintendo wouldn't add it. If it's pick up and go, having to unplug an ethernet cable doesn't exactly support that notion.
But we are continuing down this path where technology wants everyone to be where technology thinks it should be. We aren't there yet."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I take back the hardcore comment. Just seeing too much blowback to posters that have legitimate concerns about the new console / handheld /walk into incoming traffic device.
I don't know what's real anymore."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
We have a general idea of both, but nothing certain. The hardware is based off the 2+ year old NVidia Shield tablet, and the only real direct comparison for graphics is Zelda but the Wii U version hasn't been seen since a demo several months ago and with an odd color filter.

This console is obviously not as powerful as the PS4/XBone, but that doesn't mean it's only capable of playing PS3/360 games.
I personally love the idea of the console itself, but it won't matter how great the console is if there aren't many games released for it. Which is why the launch lineup is disappointing. My hope is that we see a lot of games that would have been developed for 3ds come to the switch.
There could be an interesting paradox in which many developers will only release 3rd party titles on the Switch if they see the Switch get high sales numbers, but the switch won't get high sales numbers unless it gets those 3rd party titles.
I happen to think that the console will initially sell really well, much like the Wii did. The hype is there, unlike the Wii U. If this results in third party support, like the Wii initially got when it's early sales were high, the question becomes whether people will buy those versions. Because owners of the Wii were still buying games like Madden on other systems. So for a lot of people, absent the release of Nintendo first party titles, the Wii's collected dust. This caused the third party support to dry up. Now, the Wii didn't have the portability factor of the Switch, but will that be enough to get someone to buy NBA 2k18 on the switch as opposed to the PS4?Comment

Personally, I cannot wait to play FIFA (any chance you think of PES?) and NBA 2k18 on the go. I'm not into the dark color palette shooters, but I still think I'm going to be waiting until MK8 gets released at the earliest. Most likely it'll be summer with Spla2oon is released.
I really hope this isn't received like the WiiU. That was a marketing nightmare and communication mess. It wasn't sold as a legitimate difference from the Wii. I think this is being seen as something different, and it seems to be receiving generally positive press in the wider media.XBox Gamertag: djbeth77

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I love how gaming and console discussion come down to comparing specs and features nowadays...I've hardly read anything in the last 3 pages about if any of the games do what they are supposed to do: be fun and entertaining.
Watched some more vids today:
Snipperclips: looks fun to play
ARMS: looks to be to fighting games what Splatoon was to shooters...and fun
MK8: fun
Honestly, I could give a crap if a game is 1080p or 900p...does it entertain me and make me want to keep playing? Watching reaction vids online last night of groups of people, several near my age (almost 40) cheering, smiling, and laughing with each other when Mario jumped out of that manhole put a smile on my face.
I guess I'm just old...."Back in my day (what you call retro now), we played on a 240i console that flickered and lagged....and loved every minute of it!"

I can understand the concerns in this thread, but the repetitive, over-analysis just wears you out.

I am unsure about nba though...as much as I would love to have it on the go I would more prefer it to be on my xbox at home. I wouldn't mind getting both, but having separate save files/franchises wouldn't be ideal.
I just hope they get more than 1 year (did they get 2? I don't recall) of support from these titles like WiiU did.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I skipped out on the Wii U after talking myself into and out of getting it a million times. Haha. After the rumors of a new console began, I decided to just wait for it. I pre-ordered the Switch Friday night, and it'll be the first system I've ever gotten on day one.
As a guy who skipped Wii U, I'm pretty thrilled to be getting Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in April and Splatoon 2 in the summer. Those are two of the games I really wanted a Wii U for, so I'll get my wish early on in the cycle. I'm honestly not sure if I'll get any launch titles, but seeing as how MK8 comes out in April, I decided to play it safe and pre-order anyway. I've never been a fan of Zelda, but Breath of the Wild looks pretty damn good. I may end up getting it as my first game, who knows.
And Super Mario Odyssey will be fantastic of course! I'll be getting it later in the year when it releases.
The game that keeps getting my attention is Arms. I'm just not sure which way that game will go, but it could be really awful or really really good. I'll be watching for more gameplay of it, but it could definitely be a fun game to play with friends and family.Last edited by Thrash13; 01-16-2017, 12:33 PM.Comment
