Wii U is a dead system

I REPEAT the wii U is.... a ... DEAD SYSTEM

I have to wonder though how many people are pissed off by Nintendo because of the wii u? I am like the only person that thought wii u was a good system and much better then the crap wii but even I am pissed off at how Nintendo let the wii u die. Wii u was only out for about 4.5 years from the time it came out to the time switch comes out and really Nintendo let the wii u die about a year ago. So really wii u only got support for like 3.5 years. While I am still getting a switch I am worried about if the switch will do well and if it doesn't I think Nintendo is done making new systems and I would hate to see that though. But I have to wonder how many people did the piss of with the wii u to the point where they don't want to get a switch as a result.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't mind console refreshes every 3-4 years. I understand what PS4 and Xbox are doing but to me I just don't see why they'd make their consoles fully modular at this point. It's practically PC gaming anyway.

I'd rather have the option than not have the option.

I would say you are in the minority for sure. It cost a lot of money to be a gamer in the first place and a lot of times systems don't really start getting good games in till around year 3. Heck ps4 didn't really start getting much in till last year. If you get a new system ever 3-4 years and it takes 2 years to really start getting new games then that is only like 1-2 years to really get a lot out of a new system. A lot of people complained about it only being 4 years from xbox to xbox 360 and when it comes to the wii u you could say it was even worse considering wii u got like no support after year 3.

I come from PC gaming. $300 every few years is pocket change coming from that.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017

            All good points.

            I don't mind refreshes
And I understand the butt hurt of Wii U owners

But bashing Nintendo because the system isn't powerful enough isn't fair

Nintendo has proven time and time again they they stopped after the gamecube caring about power so the whole "you're playing with power" era was then lost
And they went on to want to innovate and they did with wii(wasn't a fan because I got roped into the fidelity of the 360 and PS3) and then the Wii U (where they stumbled by not providing more games)

Now with the switch it's really simple. Get other third parties to start making or helping make your Nintendo ips. Have easports take Mario gold,Mario strikers etc and help them make new Mario golf and strikers games. Zelda breath of the wild got help from monolith. Just do the same thing Nintendo. Have drag help with zero again. And for goodness sake have retro studios work on a metroid game

If Nintendo does this they have a huge chance and providing us with new great series of games

I'm hopeful because what is a world without hope

I'm sorry but Nintendo's ips are much more near and dear to me than anything Sony or Microsoft can muster

It's fair. Because if it wasn't portable this would probably be a $149 system.

I'm pretty sure most of the people buying it would love a full featured slate of third parties. Saying anything otherwise is being pretty disingenuous.

But yeah, fans will go along with the 'you don't buy Nintendo for third parties' while beating around the bush at the other complaints that are the reason why third parties can't be counted on ... like saying people can't complain about power.

If the "this title is an achievement in modern gaming and truly spectacular" early impressions turn out to be true, then despite its flaws the Switch will be worth it for Zelda alone. I mean, I was at my younger couusins' house this weekend and they are playing A Link to the Past. And watching them play I was marveling at how great that game still is. It has not aged poorly one bit. Mechanics like using the magic mirror to traverse back to the light world to hit a lever and make water rise up in the dark world to access a high platform is just brilliant. And the fact that Ocarina of Time might even be a better a game is astounding, because I think A Link to the Past is pretty much perfect. If Breath of the Wild is as good as those two games, well let's just say I'm salivating. And hoping the previews are accurate.

Im happy Nintendo stays in their own lane, no need to have three of the same system. However, i would like them to up the graphics, just a tick..also would be cool if they could resurrect some old franchises, like double dribble, blades of steel, blaster master etc. Give them a modern day makeover and this system would be a game changer, for me anyway.

I agree. I truly believe that if Nintendo's third party support, online gaming, virtual console and console's power were all on par with the competition, that they could easily become number one again simply due to being as close as you could get to having a complete console. All of that and Nintendo IP's? Yes please. But sadly, I don't see this ever happening.

While the point of consoles has always been that you only have to spend a few hundred ever like 5 years or so to upgrade.

While I understand that about Nintendo they have Zelda my favorite video game franchise of all time, DK my like 4th favorite franchise. Sony I like there exclusives but not as much as Nintendo's and Microsoft on the other hand I don't like any of there exclusives but with that said the lack of power hurts Nintendo because with being so much less powerful they don't get the multiplatform games the other 2 get and while exclusives are important it is not the only important thing. Because when you don't get multiplatform games it makes the droughts with out exclusives harder to go threw. A lot of people don't want to have times were there is like 2 good exclusives and then nothing else for like 6 months or something. Say a system for example has 2 good exclusives that came out in Jan and Feb and then no other big ones in till October. That is like 8 months with out any thing. Where if you get multiplatform games you may have a few in like march, April and may and now that 8 month gap because only 5 months with out any thing to play. If exclusives where what really sold a console then wii u would have sold much better then it did.

Link to the past was the first Zelda I ever played and my number 3 favorite Zelda game of all time.

Those are my top 3 and they are by far my favorite Zelda games ever. If BOTW is even close to those 3 I will be very happy but I do think it may be even the best yet.

I hear most have already been charged. I'm guessing maybe if you used a actual debit card it already took the money. But with PayPal maybe is the pre charge then the full charge when it ships? At least I'm guessing and I hope it works out

My financial institution declined the charge from GameStop (flagged as a fraudulent vendor haha). I had to call to get it resolved. I'd just double check with your bank as a safety net.
