Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
So I got my Switch today. Played about 6 hours of Zelda on my TV. I can remember one instance where frames dropped for less than two seconds. Overblown issue. The game is smooth as butter. Don't listen to complaints. Play it yourself.

Yeah it's so weird. I haven't seen any frame rate issues fighting enemies, only when running through a heavily vegetated area is when the game stutters. For many of us this is a secondary system so it is what it is with Nintendo and if some of these guys haven't come to the realization by now, not sure what else they need to realize they always build their systems with low specs except for SNES and GameCube. At this point people just need to sit back and enjoy Zelda, the game is so well done despite some of its flaws.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
When I tried to play the Switch yesterday it would not turn on. After searching google, I had to hold the power button down for 15 seconds, then press the power button normally. After that it started up but my game was no longer suspended. Just passing the info along in case it happens to someone else.

Thanks to SportsDan, I will be getting his extra pre-ordered switch. Now I just have to wait on UPS. My local Target had the Pro Controller in stock so I picked that up this morning. Now all I need is to stop by Best Buy and pick up Zelda.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I have been one of the guys criticizing Nintendo a lot in this thread. I don't own the system but I do have a right to bring my opinion because I do anticipate possibly buying one.
I actually could put up with just about all the flaws I've seen from it. And I can put up with paying the overpriced hardware (and I do think its overpriced). The only thing that really concerns me is whether or not the system is going to be around for a while, have games made for it and be a long term system with real support.
Many of the flaws I've pointed out aren't just about what I think but more rather about why I think others may also think about it and why it may not become a successful system. For example, the price point, I do think $299 is way too high but I have the money and could buy it but will that keep it from being a success with families who have less money? That's my concern more than anything.
I bought the Wii U and Nintendo let me down. It was a bust and a huge, huge disappointment to myself and my wife (who is a huge Nintendo fan as well). I'd be foolish to not be wary of the same thing happening again. And many of the same mistakes I see are being repeated but I am hoping those can be overcome by Nintendo fixing them. That is why I'm commenting here, not to make anyone else feel bad about buying the system!
If I can see that the system isn't going to go the route of a barren wasteland of nothingness ala the Wii U then I'll get on board.
Hell, I'll be honest, I may get on board anyways but I'd really rather feel better about my purchase if I knew it was not going to be a flash in the pan thing and I'll start hearing Nintendo talking about their next big thing in a year and a half.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Has anyone heard rumors as to when stores may be getting the Switches back into stock?I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

While at Target this morning I asked them and they said they have no idea when they will get them in. They receive truck shipments M,W,F and Saturday and they don't know what is in each shipment.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I think I'm going to pick up a few of the Neo Geo games today. KOF98 and WakaWaka 7 are both calling my name. Love to have a fighting game on the go with this system over the other versions of these releases.Comment

What do people pay for iPads these days? $500-800? Not even mentioning their crazy expensive models?
Imagine having a tablet that can still do what most people use tablets for, but also being able to play Nintendo games. At $300.

It feels weird to say, especially since 75-90% (as a conservative estimate) of my time is spent playing games on PC because I enjoy both better fidelity and a much better framerate, but the Switch is easily my favorite console out of the 3. I wouldn't have ever said that about the WiiU. Something about it just feels different (and no, that's not me saying you should go buy one.)
I would have bought Metal Slug 3 and KoF98 day 1, but it's local co-op only - no online multiplayer, which made me pretty bummed.Last edited by ubernoob; 03-09-2017, 01:36 PM.badComment

Overpriced how? The console itself isn't overpriced for what's inside of it. I will say I think the console accessories (Pro Controller, extra joycons and stuff) are overpriced I feel (but I understand why they are - stuff like the pro controller having NFC in it for the Amiibo stuff.) I can't, and won't, defend the pricing of that stuff because the hidden costs are a decent amount - I just don't think that the console itself is overpriced (being that $299 box and everything that comes in it.) Especially once more value gets added into the proposition (stuff like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime video.)

Yeah, just hold off a year. Zelda and Mario will be there forever to play. If anything, wait until E3 2018 to see what the situation looks like at that point in time.

Compared to the competition it is overpriced. Its competition is other consoles, and hand held game systems not tablets. You can buy an Xbox One which does 4K UHD player for less.
Now to me, it's overpriced in the sense it needs a bit more offered to get it to be worth $299. A bundled game that's desirable would probably get me there, although lets be honest, pound for pound it's still not on the same level as an Xbox One or a PS4.
Also, for me it's overpriced because the portability isn't something I desire. That's just me though, that may offer a lot of value for other folks.
That is the sensible thing to do and what I'd like to do but once Mario Kart drops I'll probably buy one despite the fact that it makes no sense and I'm putting myself out there to be burned yet again, LOLLast edited by ODogg; 03-09-2017, 02:03 PM.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

I don't leave my apartment much. I live in a ****ty town that has nothing to do - however every once in a while I'll go down to LA for family reasons (though I try to avoid it as the drive and that traffic sucks unless we leave at ~midnight.)
Even being able to take the Switch there and just have all the games at my fingertips whenever I wanna play it are nice. It's not like packing up a PS4 and all that stuff.
I wish it was out when I went to the Philippines (I got back March 2, and picked up the Switch that night) because on plane rides it would have been absolutely ridiculous.
I got off the tracks for a second there. I know the portability doesn't necessarily have to be a factor (it wasn't for me, like I said I'm in my apartment most of the time) so I wasn't crazy about it... but once you see it in action (not just visually) but holding it and seeing how well it just works, it's a game changer.
Try to tell yourself that it's just the same Mario Kart from the Wii U. That being said, I honestly don't think anyone could go wrong purchasing this. You couldn't get me to say the same thing about the XBox/PS4 (especially if you already own one of the other consoles. PS4 makes the XBox pretty much redundant.)badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I have never been much of a nintendo fan, except for the old school NES and any mario cart. That being said, I bought this system thinking I would flip it. However, when I received it, the damn thing peaked my interest, so I decided to mess around with it. I def would reccommend it no matter the price. I have never in my life played a zelda game. I simply cannot put it down. Looking forward to what other games they bring out in the future.Comment
