Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Witcher and Horizon both immediately come to mind when thinking of games like Zelda. Are they as good? Well that's obviously personal preference. There are options in that genre on the other consoles though.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Zelda is the one to play if you want an exploration-based open-world game.
I've been saying for a while that while you can draw comparisons between Horizon and Zelda, they are fundamentally different types of games and experiences. Some people will prefer one, some will prefer the others.
I'm more excited about the future of Switch-exclusive games, because Zelda was originally just a WiiU game (and I believe that's where performance problems come in.) Nintendo developing games specifically for the Switch has me excited for the future of the console, let's just hope they can keep what they started with Zelda going.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
It's a game where you control a character, enter rooms, and kill things with orbs that release from your [body?]
It's like entering the dark depths of a nightmare. And there's disgusting creatures ready to attack you.
Your goal, as far as I could tell, is to go deeper which you accomplish by beating a boss in an area and climbing down to a lower level.
Or that's as much as I know because I haven't gotten very far in my limited experience. Because once you die, you have to start all over again. It's a lot like old school Nintendo in that way. There is no save file you can go back to (though you can save your progress). Once you die, your progress dies too.
Also the rooms are generated by seed. So you can enter the seed you are provided and try your failed campaign again.
Watch video. It's a weird game. But also slight addicting if you're into that sort of thing."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Yup. It's an action-RPG rogue like, somewhat in the vein of Zelda: Link to the Past in terms of view point and controls, or somewhat like a twin-stick shooter/bullet hell.
It's $40 because it comes with The Binding of Isaac Rebirth (base game), Binding of Isaac Afterbirth (expansion 1) and Afterbirth+ (expansion 2.) It's $36 for the bundle on Steam, which is actually more expensive than the Switch copy I picked up at Best Buy.
It's a rogue-like, so if you don't like dying and randomly generated elements in games - this might not be the one for you. There are tons of power-ups and different pickups throughout the game (can be seen on the wiki)
As far as story, anything I say will make me sound insane so here goes.
You play as Isaac (at least in the base game, there are other characters to unlock and stuff) who's mother goes crazy and is trying to kill him. He goes through a trapdoor in his room, and without getting spoiler-y the game is just kind of a crazy ****show in a cute way. Also very fun, if you can handle the rogue-like stuff, which I know isn't for everyone.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
So I am going to have to leave the switch or the HDMI unplugged when I am not playing because I have tried the full power off not in sleep mode and still some how the switch makes my tv auto turn inputs. I just got home and started watching a NHL game and in like 5 minutes my tv auto turned 2 times. I know it is not a issue with my tv because it only does it when I have the switch plugged in. Before the switch it never did this and when I have unplugged the switch or HDMI cable it has not done it at all.Comment

It seems that way. I've been having the same problem still. I have to unplug it when I'm not playing it.Comment

Yeah I mean there could be bigger issue but it is just annoying to have to remember to do that any time I am done playing.Comment
