Re: Stadia / Streaming
I agree...Just guessing but I don't think it could be much more expensive than 15ish a month, maybe 20. My question is then are you paying full price for games, or how does all that work financially. Would kinda suck to always have to pay that price even if you're not buying anything new for a while. Stop paying and you can't play the games you own.
I don't think they could survive with some huge upfront cost though....their whole theme implied more inexpensive and available to all.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Google Streaming / Console
Specs were of devkits and the units at data centers.
You can pick up their new controller and play a game on a monitor, then on a phone, then on a tablet then on a TV and the switching seemed to take not much longer than it did to type this.
Or use your own controller.
Content creators can send a 4k/60 stream of their gameplay to Youtube directly from their data center.
We'll see what the final product looks like at release, how it compares to things like xCloud (or works with, wouldn't that be something...). Until then the FUD is flowing.Comment

Re: Google Streaming / Console
I watched the Easy Allies live stream on youtube. Horrible presentation clearly not meant for gamers which is why they shouldn't have hyped it up. A lot of tech talk and whatnot which all sounds good and promising but it's just that - promises. That tech demo of the one game they showed had frame rate drops and lag live on their livestream so they're already coming across as liars. Doom Eternal looked bad as well and no enemies on screen or actual gameplay whatsoever. As of now, just seems to be more style than substance. We'll see what they show in the summer.Comment

I’m not so sure it’s as seamless as they showed. When the guy was using the controllers it wasn’t matching up with the game so it was either a video for each device or the latency is pretty bad.

We've already seen that feature demonstrated last year with Project Stream.

Phil Spencer had a memo that says they'll go big at E3. It'll be interesting to compare streaming options.

Re: Stadia / Streaming
For a Google services announcement it was a bit of a letdown that we got the more traditional 'coming in 2019' instead of something being available sooner/now.

Until most of the US has super reliable/fast internet with NO DATA CAPS, this is never going to work. You will burn through a month of data in a day.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment

Re: Stadia / Streaming
I do agree and don't think they have to code for people with horrible internet.
My concern will be data caps (as it is with the thought of cutting cable). I have a 1TB cap we don't hit now ever, but were I to cut cable or do this then it could happen. I think I can pay 30 or 40 for unlimited bandwidth, but then that's added cost towards gaming or tv.
This is my feeling as well...at least give us a date or some pricing or something.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Stadia / Streaming
I cut the cord and only stream now. I have a 1 TB limit and have never gone over 650 gigs in any given month. We are not super heavy TV watchers, but adding this and I would assume we would fly by that in no time.
I believe I saw that 1 hour of gaming at 4k/60 would chew through like 20 gigs an hour.Last edited by DocHolliday; 03-20-2019, 01:19 PM.GT: Event Horizon 0Comment
