I follow MBG (as well as other PS/Xbox/Nintendo guys) but February 5th is unlikely because Sony would have announced it already. I would say we have a few hours left for an announcement until Monday when a new batch of rumors can circulate.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
While I am very excited for next gen games, but as far sports games I don't know what to expect. I can expect them to push towards photorealistic graphics. But I don't know if we start getting more quality games. Besides the obvious annual release issue, I don't know if the direction of these games will change. Sports games have headed towards as an Esports and microtransactions focus. IGN has reported that EA has made 2.8 billion of revenue from live services/micro transactions in 2019 and sure 2k racks in tons of revenue from VC purchases/MyTeam. So, I'm certain they will not stray away from that model. I get the cost of development, licensing, and resources needed, will continually rise over time. Heck, with 2k agreeing to a 7 year 1.1 billion deal with NBA and certainly Madden deal being at that range, I can see why they want to make as much extra money as they can. The main thing supporters say is that the more revenue they can bring in that the more they can add in. But what has that really brought us. Gimmicky modes and innovations.
My main thing is that we are heading into a generation or consoles where we shouldn't be held back a weaker CPU. I want these publishers to fully take advantage of the power. Too bad we probably won't see newer publishers. Miss the PS2/Xbox days, where we had a variety of sports options. But for now, I hope we see a jump in sport games.Comment

The $ will likely be decided by Xbox so they could hold off until that's announced

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Yea I would guess this increases the chances that the ps5 is $500 which everyone in this thread seem to be wanting. I know the rumor for the xbox side is 2 models and price points.
I can see that being the case for them to be competitive. But I definitely think it will be $500. $400 would either be a big loss for Sony or really have to cut back on specs. With the speculated specs, no way they can sell at $400 without taking a huge loss. $600 still seems feels like a touchy number even though I can see Xbox going at that price(especially if they do a 2 SKU models). $500 seems like a price consumers would feel comfortable to pay. Even $500 seems like a loss for Sony if the next gen consoles are on par with high end gaming PCsRetro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I'm hoping and expecting Sony to give me the best they can for $500 which I would be perfectly good with. Microsoft will be $500 and $300. I don't see either company going past $500 because despite the tech in the consoles, going past $500 pretty much makes your console dead on arrival.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I was never for the $400 rumors. When I hear $400 for a next gen console, I hear a scaled back consumer friendly priced console. I'm more than willing to spend an extra $100 for the most power possible. I want a true next gen experience and if that means $500, than so be it. I already have the money saved up anyway
The PS5 website is online, but basically says that they aren't ready to unveil it and to keep checking back for updatesComment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Reportedly Sony is struggling with costs, sitting at around $450/unit. With many here already expecting a $500 console this probably isn't much of a shock.

Some take-aways from the article that has me wondering/thinking
Sony has already canceled some previously planned features for a new mirrorless camera due this year owing to the constrained DRAM supply, several people with knowledge of the matter said. There is pressure from CFO Totoki for Sony to provide more transparency and information in the buildup to the PS5’s release, which has caused some consternation internally. Asked about when he expects Sony to provide guidance on the gaming business outlook for the new fiscal year, Totoki said the plan is no different from the recent past, meaning the guidance can be expected around the end of April.
If the company takes longer than usual, analysts may look to its next investor relations meeting to glean hints about the new console’s retail price. The company held that meeting in late May last year.Comment
