I'm fine with the hard drive space it keeps the cost down and if you want a bigger one then you can just add to it down the line. Also with being able to uninstall the SP/MP part of games will save some space. I was expecting it to be atleast 1 TB, but not the end of the world.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Appears to be some confusion / mixed messaging on the backwards compatibility front. Ultimately though the blog from Sony says they should have most of the top 100 games from PS4 compatible, and expand that further. Cerny made it sound like the top 100 games would benefit from being boosted on the new console.
Lastly, we’re excited to confirm that the backwards compatibility features are working well. We recently took a look at the top 100 PS4 titles as ranked by play time, and we’re expecting almost all of them to be playable at launch on PS5. With more than 4000 games published on PS4, we will continue the testing process and expand backwards compatibility coverage over time.

Seems like a bad marketing move to release a technical spec sheet that looks significantly worse than your biggest competitor's, then put out an incomprehensible hour-long lecture video rather than showing actual game footage to demonstrate what makes your console unique but hey
I shouldn't have to be the one saying this, but the PS5's SSD is a *huge deal* and could actually change the way games are designed. Meanwhile, gamers will just look at the side-by-side specs and believe the Xbox is superior - Sony's marketing couldn't have handled this any worse
The narrative will for a long time (possibly forever) be that the Xbox Series X is more powerful than the PS5. Narratives matter!Last edited by georgiafan; 03-18-2020, 01:37 PM.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Narratives do matter, but so do games. That's where the loyalty to consoles for most is born and raised.
I've moved on to ecosystem more than any particular games, but I'm an outlier and I'm OK with that.
SSD is the largest upgrade I've ever purchased for my PC, and it'll be the biggest upgrade we've seen in consoles since HD.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
So a few thoughts.
After this i think ps5 will be 400 and xbox 500
So xbox is like 1.7 TFLOPS better i was thinking it would be closer but it sounds like Ps5 will be much faster when it comes to load times. Hearing more about SSD and its speed makes me excited about how much faster load times should be. Also like the talk about how installing patches should be much faster.
Even though ps5 may be less powerful i am still hyped for ps5 because of the games Sony makes. Ps4 was only 1.84 TFLOPS compared to ps5 and its 10.28. That means ps5 is still about 5.59 times more and i know the TFLOPS is not the only measure of power and look what Sony was able to do on ps4. Even if you compare ps4 pro and its 4.2 to this we are looking at a 2.45 like times difference.
Was hoping we would see some games. Back with ps4 we saw some games and also some tech demos in feb of 2013. Sounds like we are going to get that a lot later for ps5. Thought we would see the controller but we did not. Wonder how long before we see games. Ps4 by this this time in 2013 had already showed like 6 games or something and a few tech demos. So yeah we are seeing things a lot later then we did with ps4.
A few things that worry me/disappointing to me. BC with so many rumors i was really hoping it would be BC with ps1-ps4 but sounds like it is not going to be BC with ps1-ps3 and even ps4 sounds like its not real BC. Real BC would be put in any game disk and it works. They said something about just top 100 ps4 games or something and that means like multi-platform games from ps4 may not even work on ps5. Being able to upgrade space for more games has me worried on like how it will work and cost. They said something about needing to test to see if they are compatible with the ps5 or something and how that may take past launch. That sounds like a big fail to me.
Out side of like articles that basically cover what was talked about today and digital foundry doing a video i am wondering if we will get any thing before like around normal e3 time. I known there is no e3 this year but i am wondering if we may get nothing in till like June-July or if we will get more in like April/May.Comment

I do feel that people are underestimating the SSD. They just see 2x faster than Series X and think it is just faster loading times like "it'll just load 3-4 secs faster". It seems way more than that. It really changes the way games will be made. If games and loading only takes under 2-3 secs, that really changes how developers design games. I think you'll truly see how powerful it is with PS5 exclusive games.Comment

As a normal person I don't understand all the hardcore language so I'll rely on video's and articles to catch me up on what that means to me. I still plan on buying day 1. I hope they didn't sacrifice power to save the extra $50 are so. I do think they need to be cheaper now.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Basically, PlayStation 5 is faster as expected and Xbox Series X is more powerful as expected. I'm day one for Series X as it will be my primary gaming console where as PlayStation 5 will be secondary and for exclusives only. If PlayStation 5 launches at $400 which is definitely a possibility, it pretty much guarantees PlayStation 5 Pro a few years later which in this case, im going to wait until then.
At this point, it's going to take Horizon Zero Dawn 2 being a launch title for me to buy PlayStation 5 day one. With all of that said, both consoles are going to be amazing. Just slightly disappointed with the specs of the PS5 (mainly the SSD capacity, seriously, they couldn't hit 1TB??? SMH.) but more importantly, just no hype whatsoever as of now where as with Xbox Series X, I have been hyped since X019 and the most hyped I have been for the brand since 2011.
Hopefully, CounterPlay shows a gameplay walkthrough of Godfall or Sony announces HZD 2 as a launch title so I can get hyped for the console.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I believe it was clarified that those top 100 games are the ones that will be "boosted". So its not like Series X where it seems like most if not all BC games will get boosted. I guess rest of PS4 games will play as is until patched.
If not, then that is a let down. Not only is it just compatible with PS4, only near 100 will be playable when you're touting BC is a disappointment. I see the main top 1st party games and top 3rd party.
But I'm not buying it mainly for BC. I don't have a catalog of games and only a certain few, I want to play.Last edited by illwill10; 03-18-2020, 06:08 PM.Comment
