You say games like cyberpunk 2077 will not be affected but i am not so sure about that. The summer Olympics have already been pushed back to summer 2021 even though they where not supposed to start for almost another 4 months. The big issue is the games like i said if ps5 comes out in late 2020 still exclusive that where supposed to be ready by launch may now be early 2021 games and games that should have been launch window meanning like early 2021 may be Middle 2021 now. Now that would be even a bigger issue for xbox. With xbox getting no exclusive for the first 2 years if on top of that it launched with no big cross gen games if games like Halo are pushed back and very little multiplatform games that would not look good. With no exclusive cross gen and multiplatform games are going to be even more important for xbox at the starr. How many people are going to buy a new system with no exclusive, no cross gen games and very little multiplatform games? The big thing will be how long will this whole virus thing go on. There has been talk it may be way better come june but also talk that things may not be much better in till August. 2020 could end up being a very week year for video games.
I think that you make some very solid points here for both consoles. I honestly think that this point with everything going on they should just wait and release the new consoles either Spring 2021 or wait till Fall 2021. Considering this virus is slated to probably not clear up till sometime Summer, people are just not going to have the money to spend on a say $400-$500 systems and there would be shortages if they can make the Fall 2020.

I bet Sony delaying TLOU2 and next will be Ghosts as they will probably both become Fall release titles to soften the pain of no new consoles this year. The other thing is that like you guys were saying earlier, Microsoft has been pretty transparent about their plans while Sony has done some skirting around a lot of the next gen details. Part of the problem with this too has been the huge shakeups in upper management the last two years.

I wouldn't mind if these consoles were delayed, since I have more than enough to play from my backlog.

The virus has stopped/delayed a lot of things but the manufacturing aspect in China for Xbox Series X is getting back to normal so with 7 months to go, I can easily see Xbox being ready to go come November.

TLOUP2 was delayed because manufacturing for the disc was basically shutdown or something to that affect and Sony isn't going to lose money from not being able to sell the game at retail on a disc. Plus, can't sell it digital only because it's too big of a game and retail partners would be pissed off and you need them to sell your consoles.

Cyberpunk 2077 at worse could be delayed to November to coincide with the Xbox Series X launch. Microsoft does have the marketing deal for the game and with CDPR confirming that you could get the Series X version for free if you bought the Xbox One version, I can easily see this being pushed back two months at the most. I see Cyberpunk 2077 launching 100% with Xbox Series X or in September. It won't slip to 2021 even if both next gen consoles get delayed. As for Assassin's Creed, it's coming out in October no matter what for one simple reason - Ubisoft has nothing else and they can't go over a year without releasing a major title especially if one or both next gen consoles launch in November.

PS5 isn't going to have many top tier exclusives at launch. Sony simply doesn't do that. They let third parties carry the console. At best, im expecting Ratchet & Clank 2 which as great as it is, it's not a console seller. Don't be surprised if you end up seeing TLOUP2 as a cross-gen PS5 launch title especially if their 2021 PS5 titles get pushed back 3-6 months.

The no Xbox exclusives is bull crap because it's only for Halo Infinite. Hellblade 2, Everwild, etc. will all be Series X only. The only other two titles that could be cross-gen would be Gears Tactics and Forza Horizon 5 which honestly makes sense. Both will have a few third party timed exclusives. Sony thus far has Godfall and will probably have at least one or two more. Microsoft will have a few as well.

Just because games are cross-gen doesn't mean that they aren't exclusive. They won't be on the competing consoles which means it's platform exclusive. Besides, who wouldn't play Halo Infinite or TLOUP2 on Series X/PS5 instead of Xbox One/PS4? You're going to go with the better version which would be the next gen version.

There will be over 10 (if not 20) games available at launch for both console including third parties and Indies. Trust me, there will be plenty of games to play. If anything, there will be too many.

Sony/Microsoft will have 3 or so first party titles, at least a few timed exclusives and all the multi-platform games from third parties like Assassin's Creed, COD 2020, etc. Neither Sony or Microsoft need to go all out in regards to first party titles because after spending $400-$500 on the console, people aren't going to buy every game. On average, 1-3 at most. And that doesn't count those who buy extra controllers, Gold/Plus subscriptions, etc.

I don't think 2020 will be as great overall as many expected especially with the first 8 or so months being kind of empty but I do believe the last 4 months will easily make up for it.

I am hoping if it gets pushed back its only early 2021 i am so ready for 4k gaming never had a pro and not all games where 4k any way and the fast load speeds we are going to get now. It would suck if things got pushed all the way back to late 2021. Yeah may be a bad shortage if it does make it this year and now with the virus a lot of people several months from now are going to be a lot more worried about getting a job and saving some money/paying off things then they are going to be about buying a console. This whole thing may make the economy more like it was back around 07-08 when it was really bad and so 400-500 is going to be a much bigger deal then it would be if this had not happen. How far TLOU2 and If GOT is pushed back or not and if so how much may be part of what decides things to on if ps5 is pushed back or not. Like what if TLOU2 ends up being like a 2 months later then it was going to be so like late July instead of late may and what if same thing happens to GOT then it would be late August only like 2-3 months before ps5 now if it sticks to its 2020 release and 2 months may be if things don't get even worse.

I have heard that things are starting to get back up and running in China but i am not 100% sure on that because like a week or so ago there where some reports that things may be getting worse again there like a round 2 of the virus. Yes i know why TLOU2 was pushed back but games that are a little bit farther behind then it like GOT in late June 1 month later then TLOU2 was supposed to come out may still be close enough to get pushed back because of the disk issue to. Not only games like Cyber punk but also games like Avengers could be pushed back. You also have games like the next batman game the worst keep secret in gaming was supposed to be shown at e3 and was likely going to be like a october/November game being shown then and whats to say it will not be pushed back some.

You say Sony don't come out with big first party games at launch or real close to launch that is true with most systems not just Sony but we have had this talk that you don't agree with me on that i think Sony based off the release of there past first party studio's last release on ps4 i think they are in good shape to be able to get there first games out on ps5 a little bit faster then normal going to a new gen. But that was before the virus and 3-6 months is a big deal. That could mean games that where going to be launch if late 2020 still happens may be early 2021 and games that should have been early 2021 like Feb/march could end up more like middle or even September 2021. To me ratchet and clank is a system seller.

I am pretty sure i have heard the new halo game will be cross gen not exclusive for just XBSX, and with it being pushed back it might not even be really ready for launch. I don't consider cross gen games to be system sellers. Now if there are some good cross gen/ exclusive games and also some full on next gen games at release to go with the cross gen that is a different store. But i think most people are not going to get a new console just for cross gen games.

But i think most people are not going to get a new console just for cross gen games.

Spencer said during the IGN Interview the other day that for Xbox, their manufacturing plant is back up and running. I would assume that he gets updates weekly if not daily about it all as he needs to constantly know what's going on in China. Everything I have read is that they're improving everyday. Granted, it's minimal at best improvements but still, an improvement over what it was.

Avengers could be delayed but I think that was simply Square Enix delaying the game because it needed more time and that was back in January. Like Cyberpunk 2077, I don't see it going past November because the publishers are not going to miss the Holiday window. As for the Batman game, I would say 2021 is more likely than late 2020 especially since WB Games is publishing Cyberpunk 2077 in NA and they're not going to want two games they're publishing to compete with each other plus the Batman game is from WB Montreal which isn't going to do as well as if it was Rocksteady.

Yeah, we definitely disagree in regards to when sequels are coming out for PS5. I don't see any of them before 2022 and that's been my opinion the entire time. I see games taking longer to develop especially if they're bigger and not cross-gen because they will need more time to get the game where they want it before releasing it. And even if say Horizon 2 gets an early 2021 release date, would anyone really expect it to be released on it's original date? I don't. I would expect it to be delayed as Sony has literally delayed the vast majority of all their internal first party games the entire generation at least once and in some cases, twice.

Ratchet & Clank 2 is one of the PS5 exclusives that im most looking forward to but against Halo Infinite, I don't see it as a console seller to the vast majority of people. I can see it as one of a few games that someone is buying with the console but not for it.

Halo Infinite will be cross-gen but it doesn't matter. PS4/PS5 and Xbox One/Series X are all running on the same x86 architecture. Think of it like a PC on Ultra settings and then, the game gets scaled down a level depending on the console. Series X will be at Ultra settings while Xbox One X will be at medium settings or something to that affect.

I do consider cross-gen titles to be system sellers because if you're going to buy the game and console anyway, why wouldn't you buy it for the better console? Take Assassin's Creed 2020 for example. It will be great on PS4 Pro/Xbox One X but will be amazing on PS5/Series X so if you were buying PS5 day one as well as AC 2020, why wouldn't you buy it for PS5?

I'm buying the vast majority of cross-gen titles on Xbox Series X including AC 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 and many others because why would I buy and play them on inferior hardware when I play them on my brand new next gen consoles?

For me, im buying Xbox Series X because I want the best possible version of all my multi-platform games, cross-gen or not. Add in that I would have Halo Infinite, Gears Tactics, Wasteland 3 and Ori 2 via Game Pass in which 3 out of 4 are Xbox only and I would already have at least 6 games. Add in Outriders, Watch Dogs Legion, Dying Light 2 and others and im possibly looking at 8-12 games for Xbox Series X day one.

Even if a few games get pushed into the first half of 2021, if anything, that's better in general for everyone because if you look back at 2014, it was empty until Watch Dogs. Imagine having great games in early 2021 instead of having to wait until the second half or even 2022.

People also buy new consoles day one/first year because of what's coming out in the months ahead. For example, let's say I have Halo Infinite, Gears Tactics, Assassin's Creed 2020, Outriders and Cyberpunk 2077 at launch followed by Dying Light 2 in late January, maybe Watch Dogs Legion and/or Batman in March. And it just continues from there.

I would already have a six month multi-game "futurelog" (lol) that I would be hyped for especially since I would be playing all of them on Xbox Series X instead of my PS4 Pro.

Overall, it's not just for day one games or full exclusives, it's for the overall long term outlook of the console. Plus, buying Xbox Series X or PS5 at launch for cross-gen games also solves the debate of keeping the PS4 Pro. Once there's no more exclusives left for it that I want to play, it's gone so either way, by November 2020, I'll be 95% all in with next gen while my PS4 Pro will be held onto for a few third party PS4 exclusives in 2021.

We'll definitely see how it all plays out. Regardless of what happens, im hyped and wish it was November already!!! Hahahaha.

I starting to believe both the PS5 and Xbox are gettzing delayed into 2021.

Just my gut feeling, lots of people are not going to be in a financial position to buy these systems come fall/winter of this year.

If I was Sony/Microsoft I’d be very careful releasing these this year, it could be a huge flop and just not the time to release new consoles.

I’d delay and release in 2021 and let everyone get their feet secure back on the ground to receive these new systems properly.

Like streaming, consoles don't have to cater to the lowest common denominator. Unless there is an issue with manufacturing or logistics they'll be released as scheduled.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

While I do believe there's a 50/50 chance of PlayStation 5 being delayed due to form factor, other than that issue, I don't see either console being delayed whatsoever nor should they. If they're ready to go, they need to be released. A few games will probably be delayed at worse.

Switch is probably going over 3m in worldwide sales for March with PlayStation 4 possibly going over 1m and Xbox One might be close to that too as the All Digital version is doing insane numbers.

Now, take that into consideration and yeah, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will easily go over 1m on their opening weekend. They will not struggle. If anything, gamers will be even more hungry for them by year's end.

Plus, if Halo Infinite launches with Series X and you can play it for a $10 rental via Game Pass while TLOUP2 releases as a cross-gen PS5 title, both will be massive. Even if they don't, you'll have COD 2020, Assassin's Creed 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 and a few other top tier AAA titles available at launch.

Both will be better than fine come November.

I don't think this would be an unreasonable expectation, but not sure there's been any confirmation.

Cool, I’m game. Not fixing what isn’t broken. I’m glad they are attempting to address the battery life as well. Not sure I’d force developers into using that touch pad, though.

It looks as through triggers will be pressure-sensitive once again too (as well as adaptive), which is a welcomed return.

It’s funny how they mention they’re trying to make the controller light though, when I think I’d prefer a weighted one? Maybe I’m thinking about it backwards, but I know the initial PS3 controllers without DualShock vibration were way too light for my taste. I know it won’t be quite that light, but it’s just an analogy.

Still wondering on whether they’ll have some new Vita integration, or improved Remote Play from PC or anything of that nature.

I like it. I like bigger controller. Having big hands, A bigger controller is welcomed. They are definitely going for the immersion feel. I can imagine the 3D Audio plus Dualsense would create a very immersive feel in Sony First Party games. Really hope they expand Bluetooth with PS5 to work with more wireless earbuds. I don't like Headphones, and don't want to go back to using wired earphones. I have good earbuds I would like to use while playing.

Since they are going two-tone with the controller, I wonder if the PS5 itself will be two tone. I don't see them going with traditional black if the controller is two tone.

I was thinking the same thing with a 2 tone system to match the controller makes sense. I really like the 2 tone look it’s not the boring 1 color, but also nothing wild and crazy. I know a lot of people like the simple 1 color look so that will be a option as well at least eventually

Glad they're adding the haptics in the controllers, it works really well in some One X games. They've come a long way from the Sixaxis.

What I don't understand is continuing to design a controller that sits on its triggers.
