Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

We are potentially 2 -3 weeks from games reveal. I wouldn't mind if there were less 3rd party and focused on 1st party and exclusive 3rd party games. I can see them showing off major titles that are slated to come out within first 3 years. I still feel we will see a PS5 hardware teardown before we see the games reveal. I know the rumors are that Sony doesn't want to show off console until they are certain they can mass produce it due to securing enough parts. But I don't really see the logic of showing off games when you are uncertain you can mass produce console. Then why would you show off games when consumers don't know what the hardware even looks like. But at the same time, I don't see console being revealed at same time as games. That would be almost too much information at once. When you release too much info at once, important details gets overshadowed. With June right around the corner, they have to know by now or very soon whether they can mass produce console.

I can see console hardware either being revealed days to week prior to game reveals. Nothing big else is planned until early June for Summer Gamefest. So next week would be a perfect time to reveal hardware. I can see next week to early June as time they reveal console. I just don't see the logic of revealing the games before we even know what consoles even look like.

I personally don't see a lot of first party titles. If we even get 7 shown like those I listed, I would say that's better than expected simply because majority of the studios aren't far along enough for their next games to be shown and sure, Sony could show games that are several years away but I personally wish they don't do that because too many things can change when a game is years away plus for me personally, more than two years and my hype gets deflated because it's just too damn long of a wait.

I also believe that a good amount of their internal games have been pushed back because of COVID-19. It's much harder to work on a game when everyone is at home as opposed to being together inside of a studio.

If anything, im expecting more timed exclusive/full exclusive third party deals and AA/Indies to round out the show.

As for the console itself, im not expecting that until August when they also announce the release date and price. If they show a few "must play" games like Horizon 2, it's not going to matter if they don't show the console because fans will buy it anyway.

I can see that. At most would be showing the titles and logos of futures games. I feel the first half of generation being sequels to top PS4 titles, then 2nd half of generation introducing new IPs.

I definitely think they show off HZD2. Since they want to make that game a trilogy, I see them releasing HZD2 within first 18 months of launch and the 3rd game at end of generation.
I agree with your list entirely. Just that third party titles are up in air. I would love a Lost Legacy 2. As much as I enjoyed the Uncharted Series(one of my top series), I feel they ended it off well with UC4. I wouldn't want the legacy of that series to be tarnished by going the cash grabbing route by forcing out more sequels. But with a Lost Legacy sequel, there is a lot they can go off from there. Especially if it is a fuller game then the original.

With the whole pandemic, like you said, I can see future titles being delayed. I can see the 3rd party exclusive deals and AA games. I can also see the continuance of remasters and remakes for the first year or so. I would love for Sony to buy the MGS IP and do a remake of MSG 3 and MSG4 and then reboot the series.

I can see the first half being sequels but depends on the sequel and development studio working on that sequel.

I believe that Ratchet & Clank 2 will be a launch title as will Guerrilla's second game which is led by the guy who worked on Rainbow Six Siege. I'm expecting it to be Killzone 5 but wouldn't be surprised if it was a new FPS IP.

Can definitely see Lost Legacy 2 (or Uncharted 5) in 2021. I'm hoping for Lost Legacy 2 and I believe it makes more sense than Uncharted 5 would but im not 100% sure either way. I would be very surprised if that new San Diego Studio was working on something other than an Uncharted game as it's too popular and successful to keep it on the shelf.

I know smallville believes that Horizon 2 is going to be a launch title or early 2021 and while it's not impossible, I don't see it happening at all. I believe that it gets announced and revealed. Then gets a Fall 2021 release date but is then delayed to February 2022. I really see the vast majority of sequels taking about 5 years give or take.

My guess for sequels would be -
              - Ratchet & Clank 2 (launch)
              - Killzone 5 (launch)
              - Lost Legacy 2 (2021)
              - Horizon 2 (February 2022)
              - Spider Man 2 (September 2022)
              - God of War 2 (Spring 2023)
              - Days Gone 2 (Early 2024)
              - Ghost of Tsushima 2 (2024)/2025)
              - The Last of Us Part III (2025)

I can see Sony contracting Ready At Dawn to develop The Order 1887 as that was meant to be a trilogy as a 2021 title to tide players over before the bigger exclusives hit. At the same time, I can see Sony just paying third parties to have their games as a one year timed exclusive just to give themselves breathing room.

Back to Lost Legacy, it was a 12+ hour game for me. It being 12-15 hours is perfect in my opinion. I don't want it being like Uncharted 4 where it's around 25 hours with horrible pacing.

Launch/2021 will definitely have PS5 ports of Horizon Zero Dawn and whatever else they can manage. It makes sense and would be easy to port over. Whether or not it's just a port or a true PS5 upgrade remains to be seen.

There's rumors about Sony paying Konami to develop a new Silent Hill game with Japan Studio as the lead developer. I personally don't believe this whatsoever and have to see it to believe it. As for MGS, Konami could license out the IP but outside of a minor remaster/collection here and there, Konami hasn't done anything except for their Soccer games and even then, im pretty sure they didn't renew the licenses a few years ago.

Have to wait and see how it all plays out. At this point, if Sony is having some kind of games showcase in June, I wish they would just announce/confirm it already.

                -Demon souls remake (Launch)
-Ratchet and Clank (Launch) Will not be a remake or like the 2016 game was but complete new

                -Ghostwire tokyo (2022)
                - COD (launch)

Batman i am not really sure how there have been rumors on it for so long with nothing and even WB teasing it big time with nothing that i am starting to think its not real. Just really bad marketing by them.

Ghost wire tokyo looked interesting and we have not seen it or really had a update on it sense like e3 2019.

Silent hill has had a lot of rumors about being a soft reboot exclusive for ps5 going to say its true.

Crash i am not really sure on like time for it but with how the crash remake did and the rumors about a new one i do think we will see it.

That would be 10 games i think ps4 back when they first showed games showed i think 9 games.

I think Sony will save showing the system and price for august and maybe news about ps4 game patches on ps5 for august to.

I am begging, absolutely BEGGING, for Twisted Metal to come to the PS5. I miss the hell out of that series and was shocked that one never released on the PS4.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                    You and I both.

Sadly, developers are going to look at sales numbers and critical reception of the last awesome version on PS3 and say it's not worth the investment. That game's biggest culprit was online connectivity, and it was sorely devastating to the point that anyone's complaint about it wasn't one bit wrong. It became a ghost town, and you could count the number of people trying to find a game on one hand after only a few months.

Not that this matters more than anything, though I think it has some weight... David Jaffe (responsible for TM) also doesn't really seem to be doing anything anymore regarding video game employment. His last studio shut down several years ago, and now he spends the majority of his time on Twitch.

I just don't see a positive sign for a series like this to be revived. I, of course, want it badly. I'd also love to see another SSX and ModNation Racers.

I would kill for a new modnation racers. Modnation racers was awesome and got good reviews but for some reason its sales were pretty low. The game is like a much better version of mario kart. I think its the video game i want the most that is likely not going to happen.

I wounder if we will see rocksteady new game soon. I am dieing to know what they are making. I forgot to say that when sony shows games for ps5 i think hzd2 will be the first game shown and i think spiderman 2 will be the last game shown.

With Sony doing another State of Play, this time to show off TLOU2, it seems like Sony is finishing out the last main PS4 exclusive news then fully focus on next gen. I get people are frustrated with lack of PS5 news, but I think overshadowing the last two main ps4 exclusives would have been a bad idea, even if they are expected to sell well. After the State of Play Wednesday, nothing else needs to be shown for TLOU2. Then GoT is probably done prior to release. So after Wednesday, Sony can focus on PS5, without completely overshadowing TLOU2 and GoT

I'm expecting Sony to announce their PS5 event next week with the actual event being the week after or the week of TLOUP2. I easily see them showing a few PS4 games including Avengers, COD 2020 (cross-gen), TLOUP2 and Tsushima.

PS5 isn't going to overshadow TLOUP2 or Tsushima because it's 5+ months away where as those two games are within the next two months and will close out PS4 for Sony.

I am expecting a few PS5 exclusives to be revealed and dated for launch including Housemarque's new IP. Just a little bit longer to wait.

The wait isn't really an issue for me now. We are approaching the point where the Summer Gamefest events are going to start ramping up. I think IGN is going to reveal their schedule today. TLOU2 on Wednesday , then next week really starts everything
